I've tried to install Microsoft 2000 so I can use my files but whenever I click on a file, I get the following message, "required registry information is missingand this application cannot run. rerun setup to correct this problem". The first time around I was asked for the 25 digit product key which I did type in. Now when I re-insert disc #1 nothing happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HP laptop with a Vista Home Premium 64 bit on it now that came with no recovery disc from HP like on all DV2 laptops from HP.
So question is if I order the upgrade W 7 Home Premium preorder and install it on my laptop it should be no problem the first time even with out recovery disc since Vista will be on the harddrive. But if I do a second clean format reinstall say a year later (after the first upgrade install) to freshen up my laptop, will there be a problem installing Windows 7 the second time since I have no recovery disc of Vista to put in the DVD as proof?
So originally when I bought my Laptop it was Windows Vista. A while ago I upgraded to Windows 7 by downloading the OS and a valid serial key form a third party distributor associated with my school. Next week I`m putting together a new desktop PC, and want to install Windows 7 on it. I have another valid serial key to use for the registration, however do not have a boot disc to use. Wil the System Restore Disc that I can create using the wizard on Win 7 be able to boot and load a new OS on my new desktop or will i have to create a boot disc another way. Also, I still have the original installation files saved in My Downloads, although not in .iso format but expanded and just saved as files.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a virus while on Windows 7, it pretty much destroyed the OS. So I had to revert back to Windows vista and try to figure out a way to Install Windows 7 Professional again. To my luck, I can't upgrade from Windows vista (home) to Windows 7 professional.
Now, I don't have the disc, or any other disc so I can burn an ISO(legally).
So, I was wondering, is there a way to perform a clean install? OR, is there a software that will load up the ISO when the PC boots?
I have a universal disc I made from my upgrade retail version of home premium. I have purchased a pro version product key which I have upgraded to at the present time. If I get a SSD, can I use the universal disc I made along with the key I purchased to install only, the pro version on the SSD to save space on that drive after, I remove the OS from the standard hard drive?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI normally use Word 2003 for documents, although I use Outlook 2010. This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have an bit of an odd and I think unique problem (as many searches came up with no solutions). Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). I have tried doing a repair with the install disc but no problems are found every time I try.

I have an ECS H61H2-M2 mobo with a G620 cpu. Makes a nice budget rig, but I was thinking of using it as an HTPC in the near future. It only has a VGA out right now. What would be a good video card to upgrade to with HDMI and DVI? Low profile and fanless would be optimal but not mandatory.
