Graphics Device WDDM 1.0 Or Higher Driver?

Oct 3, 2009

Microsoft says you need a "DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver" for Windows 7. How can I tell I have the proper one? I have a GeForce FX 5200 DirectX 9.0.

HD Stuttering / Intel IG35 WDDM 1.1 Driver

Feb 2, 2009

I have an HTPC with an Asus P5E-VM HDMI mobo with IG35 onboard graphics and a E8400 Core 2 Duo 3 GHz CPU with dual boot Vista 32bit and Windows 7 32bit setups. HD works OK under Vista 32 bit using the latest Intel Vista driver but it struggles under Windows 7 using the WDDM 1.1 driver automatically installed by Windows.

The stuttering is fairly random but occurs very frequently and most likely due to the CPU maxing out under HD resolutions (as I assume most of the graphic processing is being done in software). When I look at CPU performance while displaying HD, it shows that the CPU is working very hard. If I set the screen resolution down to 1024x768, it copes OK.

Should there be some hardware graphics acceleration with the onboard GPU under the Windows 7 driver or does it have to rely heavily on the CPU? I don't understand why my CPU is not coping as it's a good spec. Are there any tweaks or settings that would improve things? I cannot understand why performance under Vista should be better than under Windows 7.

If I can't get it to work properly, I might have to put back in my noisier HD 4670 512Mb GDDR3 card to take the load off the CPU which I shouldn't have thought to have been necessary.

Identify My Graphics Card As In Device Manager?

Jun 27, 2011

I have been taking apart computers for parts and am learning some things about computers.I understand a fair bit about computers.I was just wondering how I can identify my graphics card as in Device Manager, it displays "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter".I am sure it displayed something different before I upgraded to Windows 7. I think I may be missing a driver.

Either way, I used to have Windows XP and the game I wish to play worked then, now I have upgraded, it no longer works. This could be because the driver for the graphics card was erased. I am using whatever card comes with this computer, as I have left it unaffected since the purchase of the computer, and all I have altered is the disc drive and hard drive.Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7, the game won't start and it gives me a graphics error "We are sorry, but the operating system failed to provide the window to render the game graphics in. Please consult the game manual for known workarounds that might improve the game's compatibility with your hardware.". This is for the game "18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul". I have checked and this game is compatible with Windows 7.

BSOD Caused Graphics Card To Disappear From Device Manager

Aug 10, 2012

I'm using an Alienware M17x R4 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660m.

I've been using this laptop for about 3 months now and everything has been running fine. Yesterday, I was playing Skyrim testing out a new mod from nexusmods. I've read on the description and comments and there were no problems associated with the mod. While I was using it a received a BSOD. When I restarted the computer my resolution was reset. I right clicked on the desktop and the options for my Nvidia control panel were gone along with the other options for the Intel Graphics control panel.

After a while my first display adapter came back which was the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I looked up as much as I could about the problem and it was usually associated with the display adapters being reverted to something like Standard VGA Adapter. This applied to the Intel graphics, but that was all. It was as if my graphics card vanished and I can't find it under device manager. When I try installing/reinstalling the Nvidia drivers it says that there is no Nvidia hardware. I've tried waiting a couple of hours with the laptop shut down, finding it in safemode, and searched for even more solutions. I can't seemed to find any. The last thing I did was check the BIOS and it said that the Discrete Graphics Card was not detected.

BSOD With Install Of Intel Graphics Driver Or Install Of Graphics Card

Jul 19, 2012

I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.

When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.

I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.

I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.

I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.

I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

System:
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/GEN 3
Intel 2600K
XFX R7950 Black Edition
OCZ 850W
Crucial 128 GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HD
Corsair H100
Windows 7 64 bit (full)

ATI Drivers, Use WDDM Or ATI

Apr 29, 2009

when i installed Windows 7 it had the WDDM drivers installed they seemed stable didnt have any crashes in short time they were on but...

when i played games eg L4D (via steam), msg came up saying drivers not up to date

so i decided to DL latest ATI drivers now i get constant driver crash (prob once an hour ish), but only to extent black screen to 2 secs and then back all good, only real prob is it resets my Fan adjustmens via Rivatuner back to std

should i go back to WDDM drivers? are they worth reverting or should i stick out ATI ones, or is there a better option

...did drivers not install properly, anyone else got this problem?

Are There Any WDDM Compatible Drivers Out There

Nov 13, 2011

I'm just trying to get Aero working and it's saying my driver isn't compatible."The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."I've got the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and haven't really been able to find a solid answer if there is a compatible driver. If there is no driver can I just install a different graphics adapter or will I need a new card? [code]

Simulate Higher Screen Resolution

Jun 19, 2012

I have a 22' monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050px.When I am working on my pictures for example in Adobe Lightroom the UI is very big and it lets about half of the monitor space for the actual image... I know that people having bigger screens with higher resolutions have the UI MUCH smaller, and I also know that the screen resolution is physically limited so I don't want to set my resolution to for example 2560x1600px but I want to decrease the size of everything on the desktop... Like just scale it down like you can do with the icons with simply holding Control and rolling the mouse when but with the whole desktop, the mouse, the UI, the start, etc. etc.A good picture of what I am trying to achieve is when you set the DPI to 125 or 150% but I want to set it to like 50 or 75%

I tried rolling back to an earlier point today and still have super high ram usage. Now with just this single IE tab open im using 900!

Windows 7 64bit - Resolution Not Higher Than 1280x800

Dec 2, 2011

I recently upgraded from Vista Ultimate 64-bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have a problem with the resolution now. The monitor I use was supported in Vista for resolution 2560x1600 but now the highest I have is 1280x800. I can't get it any higher, when I go back to Vista /same Dual-link cable, same monitor, same PC/ it shows 2560x1600 correctly, once I go Windows 7 - it only displays 1280x800. I have tried every driver update /Dell monitor3007WFP, ATI Radeon HD6950/ but nothing works. I first thought its my monitors' driver problem but after I researched online, it seems that many people have same problems with the resolution once they go Windows 7 /no matter the pc or monitor brand/. How to able to run this at 2560x1600 resolution.

Upgrade From Vista - Higher Privileges Are Required

Dec 25, 2009

I purchased the Windows 7 Professional upgrade version through Digital River and I have been trying to install Windows 7 since last night with no luck. I downloaded the ISO file and EXE file with absolutely no luck. I keep getting an error that my current version of Windows (Vista 32-Bit Home Basic) is not compatible with the version I am trying to install which is Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit.. I tried Paul's three methods with no luck =(. The second method gives me an error message that higher privileges are required to do this.

Why isn't my computer reading any of the Windows files as a boot disk? I hope I downloaded the files correctly. I did burn the ISO file to a disk but still no luck. I am so frustrated abd honestly had I known this was going to take up so much time I probably would have just continued suffering with Windows Vista which i absolutely hate with a passion.

Higher CPU Usage Due To Deferred Procedure Calls (DPC)

Feb 10, 2010

Running Windows 7 64-bit and just downloaded the lastest updates from Microsoft last night. Now my CPU is sitting at 20% due to Deferred Procedure Calls and Interupt Service Providers running constantly according to the resource monitor. What could cause this issue? Could it be a driver that downloaded from MS? I believe the fix for this would be to just restore back to before the install but I have a question about restore points. When I open up the restore point menu and it shows all the dates, do I pick the date of the MS update or one day earlier?
