View 7 Replies View RelatedTHIS TUTORIAL INVOLVES:Docking program (tested on and Objectdock) Stack docklet (I use Stack Docklet For ObjectDock by ~arshi2009 on deviantART on both RD and OD) Link Shell Extension Please choose the appropriate version for your OS. 64-bit programs with troublesome shortcuts Since you're reading this, this author assumes that you already have Stacks docklet installed and have been using it for quite some time now. You are just annoyed why 64-bit program shortcuts give you error everytime you access it inside the Stack. Therefore, THIS TUTORIAL IS NOT ABOUT:Installing Stacks docklet Creating stacks 64-bit application shortcuts are not easy to tame, especially when you use Stack docklets to collect them in groups. Some may work (in my case, Photoshop has been friendly), but mostly they appear as this ugly icon:And when you click it, a dialog will popup to tell you that it can't be opened:A workaround to make 64-bit applications shortcuts operable in Stacks docklet was provided via Aqua-Soft forums. It wasn't their instruction that bugged me but the whole process of creating symbolic links, which involves using the command prompt and selecting a proper handle that is difficult to comprehend and a total pain to newbies like me. So for those having trouble with symbolic links, here's a tip to easily create them.
1) download and install Link Shell Extension. The software will add a context menu item.
2) Head to installation folder of the 64-bit program you'd like to include in Stacks docklet. (In this example, I will use 7-zip)
3) Right-click on the folder and select Pick Link Source
4) Create a folder anywhere. But I advise that this folder should contain symbolic links ONLY so they remain organized. (In my case, I put all my configurations on a separate partition, and my SymLinks folder is placed next to my Program Shortcuts folder so they're easier to reference in case I needed to change something).
5) Open that newly-created folder. Right-click anywhere, and select Drop As then Symbolic Link. (The item you just "dropped" will now appear in that folder and it has a green overlay icon to indicate that it's a Sym Link (for some reason, mine appears in blue. I'll work this out later). It will act as if it's stored there, but it only references the original folder you have "picked". You can open it directly from there and add, delete or edit contained files, and the changes are reflected to the original folder. So it's better to leave it alone unless you know what you're doing.)
6) Open the folder you just "dropped". Find the main .exe file that launches the program and create a shortcut for it.
7)This newly-created shortcut is what you should use in your Stacks docklet. After creating your docklet that include this shortcut, you should be able to see the proper icon of your 64-bit program and click on it.
I keep getting this box telling me "Error:unable to start blue tooth stack service".Also unable to open certain Web pages.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn order to make an older program run, I have to copy a stack of dll/ocx files into System32, and then register them. Yes, it's crappy design, but it's a game editor for an older game, and I'm evidently the last tech-savvy admin. That, or a sucker.I copied them onto the desktop, and am trying to copy them from there into the system32 directory. I hit the UAC prompt, and select continue. Then it tells me I need to provide permission for it. I am a local admin (as well as a domain admin).

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince about 1 month my PC turns randomly off. Sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 2. Mostly when in Idle or when I'm watching movies on a second Monitor (TV but it also crashes if it is unplugged so thats not the reason). Sometimes when I try to boot again it wont start except if I turn off the PSU for ~15 seconds. Sometimes when I reboot there's an error message "Asus Anti Surge was triggered".
I already tried:
- Replaced my OCZ ModXstream 600w with a Corsair AX750 PSU
- Stock settings in Bios
- Asus Anti surge deactivated
- Changed the power outlet to another one
My hardware:
i5 3570k @4,3 GHZ
Asus Sabertooth Z77
GeiL Evo Corsa 16GB
Sapphire AMD 6970HD
2 Harddisks 250/500gb
1 SSD OCZ Agility 3 120gb
And like I mentioned 2 different PSU's.
OCZ ModXstream 600w
Corsair AX750
i am in a mess with my pc.Something is wrong with it but i do not know what..??anyways the problem i am facing is very peculiar , my pc restarts automatically when log on to my desktop in windows 7 .No BOSD...No warnings...After restarts ...i start again...it starts and again the same thing...i tried SAFE MODE...it works fine...i left it for almost an hour and it was fine ...but it normal mode it restarts within seconds...so i am guessing that this is neither a hardware nor a overheating issue..so then what is the problem...software...????I have already tried a fresh install previously ... the problem comes back....i tried to check the event viewer ...it says.."Event 41"...i have cleared up my cabinet clean..the fans are working smooth...recently got a new graphic card....no noise ...nothing..but still it restarts...what can be the reason...????i am using a quad core intel processor with asus p5q pro and gts 250 grapich card.
