View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with no problem. A pop up did mention that I would not be able to use windows mail but did advise my setting and files would still be able to be used. I now have Outlook running but can find no way forward to find all my previous emails.
Question.
Where are my files?
I recently bought a new laptop that is covered under the windows 7 upgrade program. Does anyone know if this can be installed on another PC instead? The other PC is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

I am jumping into the 64bit OS this weekend. I have already installed it (Windows 7 RTM x64) and started to install a few programs. I noticed that there are two folders: Program Files and Program Files (x86). When I install software, does the OS know which folder to use?
Second question: I usually install the OS on C: and programs into a folder I create on the D: drive. Can I still do this with Windows 7 x64 and do I need to create 2 folders on the D: drive?
HATE Windows Live. Simply hate it. I liked Vista's Windows Mail because you could edit forward emails and get rid of all the junk on the left side. What's another option for Email?

View 14 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I downloaded my copy of Windows 7 from DigitalRiver from the 741 offer for students. It gives me the three files as usual, but when I click on the .exe, I get a command prompt saying "Program is too big to fit into memory" before quickly closing.
I didn't even get this expandedSetup file that people are talking about, so I can't make a .ISO out of it or anything. I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, attempting to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Preimium Upgrade 32-bit.
I've tried re-downloading it.
I've tried using a different computer.
I've tried increasing virtual memory.
I've tried running as administrator.
Nothing seems to work, and I'm beginning to think I'm the only one so far with this problem. I even asked my computer science professor, and he thought the lack of virtual memory was the culprit. I have 3GB of RAM, and was able to free up 2GB to no avail.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just had my HP dv5 laptop (2 years old) updated with Windows 7 from Vista Premium. Like everyone else I have no email and lost, it looks like, many emails on the old server. When I see all the answers about changing files, and .dll. and .exe, and all that I am more lost than ever. I don't know all this stuff and I'm really bothered that Microsoft came out with this mess.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I go to set someone up with a live mail account and use their in existing email address the wretched program will not accept the address they already have and keeps requesting that it has to be set up as a hotmail one. If I ask it to use their own address it comes with some rubbish aboout being in anaothe domain or something. Am absolutely sick of this program why in the name of reason cannot the damn thing just accept the persons existing address. I mean no one wants to start letting everyone else a new address to send to them especially if they have a lot of contacts. I set my own up so what is the go with it now and this one and only feature makes cleaning up someones machine a nightmare.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe users here can't stand WLM with its over-busy interface and buried everyday functions and so I found a nice simple email prog called Sylpheed. It is very easy to use and quick. It works fine with one exception. It is not listed in default program options ( like it didn't exist) and so if you try to email out of an app, you are told no program is installed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know with Vista there was Windows Mail or whatever it was, and with 7 they removed that.
Let me state this very clearly. I DO NOT WANT THAT PROGRAM.
I have Hotmail, I would like to KEEP that. The problem is, when I go to click a link that would open up email, I get an error saying I do not have an email program and to please get one.
Is there a way to set it back so that when I click on an email link it opens IE and directs me to Hotmail?
my Windows 7 64-bit computer acted oddly (after it accidentally got unplugged while on, tho not sure that's what did it). now when i boot i get as far as the windows 7 logo starts to show, then i get that it can't boot.i changed nothing that i know of.repair says it can't. restore, which only lists points from 3 days ago, doesn't work. i did a memory test. it was fine.am i doomed to do a clean re-install of Windows 7? btw, if i get that Windows 7 logo, and also a stage where it says it is loading files, that means it is reading from my hard drive?
