View 2 RepliesVery strange issue on HP Elitebook 8440p running Windows 7 Pro - 32bit:
- Domain user logs in successfully after PC powers on
- Goes into Standby mode while still logged in
- Resumes from Standby by pressing the power button
- Gets to the login prompt by pressing Ctl-Alt-Del
- Begins entering password (which begins with an uppercase character), and is only able to enter *two* chars - after which all other keystrokes are ignored.
The only way to login is to force the machine to power cycle.
Windows 7, won't accept a password I set to it for my HP 620, though with a special character; which goes for Kar's1990 --that's the password. Password that used to work flawlessly in weeks I have had it in use though until today after coming back from my morning routine, to boot the system, to find out every time I try to write "'" to complete the password properly, it instead adds another black dot to the input field in which case the form ends like: Kar'as1990 instead.
The keyboard isn't Spanish though configured, to international English, so to give me the special character without a problem. To throw as well, I had some virus attack yesterday; but swept them immediately. Nevertheless, I don't know if that have something to do with the keyboard no properly writing the a with the accent I'm seeking it to input.
After instaling the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7, the machine does the normal reboot and brings me to the welcome screen. I put in my password and it gets rejected. I do not have a password reset key (USB) so what do I do?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI can't disable "password protected sharing" in Win7 (home premium, came pre-installed on new laptop, less than a week old). I can disable the setting in advanced network settings and save, and it stays saved when i re-open settings, but no matter what I change, whenever I try to open the network share from an XP machine it challenges me for a login/password.

I couldn't connect to it because it wouldn't show up so i disabled the wireless and then it connected. Now back to reality..We now have fibre-optic so it's a lot faster so i tried to get my wireless signal back. Can't find it in the network and sharing centre, checked device manager as well. Have tried taking the Ethernet out to see if it would pop up but it hasn't.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to rediscover a network ASCII key on my computer. In Windows 7 , you can go into the wireless settings and simply click a box that says "show characters". Then you can see the key in ascii format.
But I am on a WinXP laptop right now. Is there a similar feature in Win XP ?
I can't find the password I used for this forum (my other half ripped it out my log book, she needed a piece of paper). How can I get it reset and input a new one.
