I just finished building my first computer and everything seems to work fine. However, when I perform a WEI test I receive the error "Could not measure video playback". I made sure drivers were up to date etc. but still couldn't complete the test. The log file had a line saying "Unable to create D3D device" but games and movies on my hard drive worked fine so I decided it wasn't a big deal. Now, however I have just realized that I am unable to watch streaming flash videos online and think the two may be related. Video loads but upon playing video screen turns green and only audio plays.
read through the stickies, and downloaded all necessary tools, except rammon won't open for some reason. my bsod mostly appears when i'm watching a video online, whether it be Internet, hulu, doesn't matter.
Info: Windows 7 64 bit original OS on system an OEM version bought this laptop from dell in august 2010
I have experienced problems watching videos or playing music recently were sometimes it lags for a few seconds and the sound becomes very digitized and choppy. Also my computer crashed once this month watching another video, but I didn't get the BSOD. The same thing happened this time, only if froze and then I got the BSOD. I don't know if this is related, but I've been experiencing problems during start up with windows. Periodically the computer freezes while loading windows on the 'Please Wait' screen, just before the login screen is displayed. Usually it happens multiple times consecutively, when I restart my computer from the first freeze it freezes again multiple times. I then have to spend the afternoon trying to turn my computer on, until I can get to the login screen without the computer freezing.I've got a hardware problem too, but that's probably unrelated. The laptop speakers randomly stopped working a few months ago, I'm planning on sending it in to get fixed soon. Just thought I'd mention it in case it's relevant somehow.
when using sites like bbc iplayer or Internet the sound plays fine but the video freezes for a second every few seconds, i also see the same issue in vlc, windows media seems fine.
also my pc beeps repetitively when i exit firefox after having choppy playback, this last for a minute or so, this doesn't happen with vlc.
i have tried updating my nvidea drivers and also direct x but this has made no difference.
i use the latest version of firefox but have tried internet explorer and it has the same issues.
my pc is brand new from dell, although i re-installed everything from a fresh copy of windows seven as soon as i got it
i have 1 terabyte of space split over 2 actual drives that are partitioned into 4 drives, my c drive has 84 gb spare.
My hard drive crashed and when I replaced it and reinstalled windows7 everything worked except when I go online and try to view news stories or movie trailers. The commercial will play but then there is just a spinning loop and no video.
My home built computer has been having random crashes since August, but before then it worked fine. Historically, the crashes have happened in various situations, changing with each attempt to fix them. The most recent change I made to my system was to get rid of Norton Internet Security and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since then the crashes have become a bit more reproducible: about half the time I try to watch streaming video online the screen will freeze and the sound will stutter, requiring a hard reset.
I have run windows memory diagnostic, prime95, and various graphics card stress tests repeatedly, so I feel I can confidently say the problem is not hardware. Besides, this only started a few months ago, and my computer had been working just fine for a few months before then.
i always watch videos online on 1channel.ch and others, and up until 2 days ago the audio and video seemed to be in perfect sync and out of nowhere the audio is now ahead about 6 seconds?
I have a new system running win7 64-bit, and so far I have not been able to get it to connect to the Internet using a PCI wireless card or usb adapter.
So in the interim, I'm trying to get it to connect via an access point functioning as a bridge. I've confirmed that the bridge works because it successfully connects my laptop (running windows XP) to the net.
However, when I plug in the same connection to my win7 system, it doesn't work. I've gone one step back and tested the Ethernet connection directly from the router, and that works. So I've confirmed that the Ethernet port is working properly.
It's just that when I plug in the bridge connection to the Ethernet port, it doesn't work.
Anybody got any ideas? How come my bridge works with my laptop, but not my new PC?
Ever since I installed Windows 7 64-bit, I have been getting a strange visual glitch in the centre of a lot (but not all) of the online flash videos I view.
The glitch is a flashing transparent square that appears to show in between video frames in the centre of the video. You can only see it by its outline but its big enough to cause constant annoyance.
Bizzarely enough the square dissappears if the video is put into fullscreen and doesn't appear all videos, only the majority.
I have the latest flash player installed and the latest catalyst drivers for my Radeon 4980, but the glitch persists in both 32-bit Firefox and Internet Explorer.
I get a BSOD/STOP error when streaming Hulu. The BSOD will appear after streaming roughly 10 minutes of video, then the system is set to restart so it will restart. After prompting safe mode etc. it will start as normal and we will be able to watch a video on Hulu plus all the way through with no errors [code] I moved files from an XP machine to this system using an external hard drive and Windows easy move (inbuilt Windows 7 wizard). I have used Lenovo's One Key recovery to recover the system but the BSOD still appears after a successful run. I do not remember if the BSOD occurred after the file move or right out of the box but I suspect that it was due to the file move. My IT guy at work has recommended a full system restore. I suppose I can search for a thread that explains such a procedure but wanted to know if a more knowledgeable person could come up with a different fix.In addition , and maybe related I cannot complete an update using Windows Update. I can download the updates just fine. But when it comes to applying them, the system will begin applying the updates with the progress bar, but after 2 minutes, I will receive a fail message everytime.
I had Intel HD 3000 graphics but when I reformatted my computer I now have, Intel Sandybridge Mobile Graphics Chip set and my adapter type is: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter also my resolution now is 1024x768. It used to be 1280x1024. What happened? When I try updating the driver it says its already up to date.
If I am streaming a video online the screen will get fuzzy and freeze. I will then get the blue screen which will mention that there is a problem with my display driver. This has happened many times. I won't be able to do anything after that. I can't even turn off the computer. I just have to wait for the battery to die so that it will turn off.
I have built them formatted them, fixed them added components many many times...This is my issue, Internet explore won't open....well it opens and I get a ap crash notification. I take out both of my different videos cards and use internal video and it does not crash. The problem is this is my living room movie file player and the video cards make a huge difference....I also need explorer as well....now Chrome works but that is not what I want..
I purchased diablo 3 for my husband & my video card is not supported so he's unable to play, my computer is a HP P624 f-b desktop with a Intel GMA intregrated graphics, I am aware I need to up my power supply also, I have no idea what video card can be used to upgrade so the game is playable, not looking to spend a fortune?
PI have to use onboard sound card to have audio through HDMI output from video card. The external sound card installed is Xonar DG and it comes with SPDIF output header to be interfaced with video card. But I do not see no such header on the video card. I wonder what video card has such an interface header.
I have recently purchased Samsung RF511 notebook and I have been trying to run HD video files(mkv) and they do run but it is very laggy and stuttering occurs very often. So I looked a bit into this matter and what I have found is that the VLC player that I am using to play the video files runs of the onboard graphics card and not the nvidia 540M card that is also installed in this notebook.
I installed Windows 7 RC yesterday and now I installed CoD4. Single player works fine but upon starting MP i see the splash screen as normal and then the screen goes black and maybe 20s flicks back to windows and there is a problem troubleshooting window on screen for a fraction of a second but i dont have enough time to read it. I already tried some punkbuster stuff, but I dont think that is the problem here as I cant even get to the menu.
i could play games fine in x32 but i seem to be having troubles in x64, i have tried a number of things (compatibly mode including when installing, reinstalling without game updates, with updates)
i installed 2008 x64 redistribution pack and made no difference.
tried the windows update 179xx wddm1.1 display drivers (ppfft)
tried earlier disp drivers
uninstalling physx
crysis (with or without game updates) locks in the menu, thats in the rare occasion it does make it into the menu otherwise it sits at a black screen until you press space bar to close the inaccessible "this programme has stopped responding" dialog box
cod4 mw locks at mission loading screen and needs forced reboot
cod5waw when i select to start a mission, select difficulty and it just goes back to the mission select page no matter how many times you try it??
i use my system mainly for gaming so this is really doing my head in.
i have nforce 20.08 forceware drivers
182.06 geforce drivers
along with the latest physx software
all 64bit drivers.
running on 790i ultra, 9800gx2 quad sli, q9550, 4gb ddr3
I just accidentally changed my settings on my grapics card so that I can no longer see my desktop on the monitor connected to my HTPC. My HTPC has a monitor attached to it and it also has an HDMI out from the graphics card going to an LED TV in another room. I accidentally switched it so that the desktop can only be seen on the other TV in the other room.
All I can see on the monitor is the blank Windows 7 logo (no desktop icons) and I cannot navigate back to my AMD control page to undo this. I tried rebooting but this does not work. This is an issue as I don't have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse that I can use in the other room to control the desktop. How do I reset this? I am using a AMD HD 6750 graphics card.
