Dec 26, 2012
This has to do with a windows update that wouldn't install and keeps giving me an error code(800FO203). The update is for Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. No matter what I do it wouldn't install. (Disabled firewall, antivirus, contacted Realtek).

I got notification 1/9 that 14 updates are available for Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. All installed but 1. Update KB2773072 generates error code 80073712. I have re-tired multiple times each after a system reboot. The update is RECOMMENDED not critical. I can probably go without it. It appears it is related to gaming applications. I don't game. getting the update installed?

A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

This has been going on for a couple of weeks. Every time I shut down my laptop, it TRIES to Update. I finally realized that something is wrong. I went into the Update folder in Control Panel and looked at the "update history" to find that every time I shut down, the update attempts have "failed".The error code is 66A. I tried the "Windows Fix-It" and it didn't work. I don't know what to try next. The three update items are for NET.Framework 4.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a 64 bit operating system. I haven't used this computer in over a year, but my brother has been using it since, but hasn't kept it updated at all or with any anti-virus. I was able to install everything on Windows Update except Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2621440). I've tried everything from simply restarting, rebooting in safe mode and safe mode with networking (I could not open windows update either of those ways), and doing a safe mode with networking full scan with Malewarebytes Anti-Malware, Super Anti Spyware, and Microsoft Security Essentials. I did find 2 trojans and removed them and rebooted, but was unable to install this security pack still. When I tried installing the individual version of the security pack online, it told me the update did not apply to this system. I also tried running the windows update repair tool. I made a separate administrator account and downgraded my own account to a standard user, but I'm unable to demote my brother's administrator account. His is not password protected, but there is no option to change the account type, even when I'm logged on as him or under the other administrator account I just made.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a dell laptop ( which is wireless) About 95% of my automatic updates fail with the code "800B0100" tried the "fix it" from MS, no luckI try to download the "system rediness update tool" from MS but keep getting a page not found prompt. I turned off the windows and McAfee wirewall, but that didn't help either. I'm using a Netgear N600 router. Maybe it has a firewall. It's just a Windows problem though, all other updates ( McAfee, Adobe, etc.) work ok.

I have two machines, desktop and laptop, both running Windows 7 Build 7600 (64-bit and 32-bit respectively) that just started getting the "Code 80070005" message when running Windows Update. I have seen many others with this issue (apparently it used to be an issue with Vista) but it's surfacing again on Windows 7. I have tried any of the proposed fixes, Rebuilding the "C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution"Running the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissionsDisabling the firewall (Windows Firewall) and anti-virus (Avast Home) without any effect.Does anyone have a reliable fix yet? I'd rather not reformat both machines just because there's an incorrect setting somewhere.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit set to automatically update the OS. Three days ago I lost connectivity on my shared home network that uses a Netgear WN2000RPTv2 wireless extender to connect to my Ruku which had worked perfectly to stream movies. (Amazon Prime). When I began to check out the systems for possible errors, I noticed that there had been updates for Netgear, several optional and one recommended. All failed with the error code of 80070103. I've tried unplugging my routers, did a hard restart to factory defaults, etc., all resulting in no change to the systems. The desktop pc connected to it is as follows:

I have a Gateway laptop M series that I upgraded to Windows 7 a few years back (o.g. Vista) has run beautifully ever sense. Recently installed Win8 fresh. Error code OxcOOOOOe9 became the issue. Start up repair was performed several times with no resolve. Used cmd to perform MBR fixes including fix mbr, bootrec.exc, and other fixes found on this site. Nothing seems to resolve the issue. I gave up and was about to call it quits, under the assumption the hdd was gone. One day I decided to throw a fresh copy of Ubuntu on it for laughs ( I am currently getting my certs in networking and linux+) it works flawlessly. Strange to me although I understand there is a difference with grub and mbr.
I should add that I am now just trying to reinstall 7. I have played with 8 on a different PC and would rather stick with the former.

Just inherited a pc, and bought a brand new 1tb hdd yesterday to install windows on. I was foolish at first by not changing any of the bios settings (was a long time since I have done an install) and just left it as it was. I got through to installing windows and it stopped at expanding files with the above error code, which I have heard is really commonWindows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required or installation are available, and restart the installation. Now I am certain there is nothing wrong with the DVD, as it is the same one that has been used on two other PC's. I tried turning it off and restarting, that was when I got another error load up - Bootmgr is missing! After this I restarted it and changed the bios settings to boot from the DVD drive. I tried doing a repair on this through the disc.
Went through all the settings and typed Bootrec.exe/REBUILDBCD in command prompt but that came back fine. I tried clicking startup repair after this but it did not restart, so I just went through the motions and restarted it manually as by this point I was getting frustrated. Upon restart I went through and booted from the DVD, and it went straight through. This time I tried re-installing but deleted all the partitions on the drive which had appeared since trying to install. However the same error message has come up again
