In the box that comes up it has more... "This web page contains content that will not be delivered using secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire page." Then it has three buttons to click on, "More Info", "Yes", "No" - This comes up time after time, page after page, didn't use to do this and I haven't downloaded any programs for security, or to use with/on the INTERNET.

May 7, 2011I get a popup widow for damn near every program on my computer after a recent virus attack the gave me continious bogus security warnings.I'm 99.9 percent sure I've killed off the virus but now I can only access some files by right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator". I've tried downloading the files I need to repair my Windows 7 Home Pro Pro but I can't get it to run.I'm waiting on a 2-disc package from Asus that contains Windows 7 but I really don't want to loose all of the data on my harddrive.

Mar 15, 2012I use Outlook2010 as mail program. When I Start it to receive my mails I got a Internet Security warning. Target Principal Name is Incorrect What simply means that the URL of the certificate and the domain I connect to is not the same. Thats not a real problem as I know the cert is OK.
The question is how do I tell outlook that it hast to trust this certificate? I already tried some ways to install it, but it seems that I'm missing something.

Sep 13, 2012Ok I have a problem thats starting to affect more users every few days.Outlook 2010 has started blocking all attachments ie xls xlsx doc docx pdf and more.I have added the file extensions to the level 1 and level 2 remove string in the registry but then when a user goes to open the attachment the Outlook Attachment security warning will appear prompting the user to save the file to a location. but the save wont complete

Oct 21, 2012Trying to download a GIS mapping program from Purdue Univ. Seems to download to my "Dwonloads" file. When I look at the Download folder it shows an icon with correct title, but I can't see any files when I double click on it. This is not a "file folder" icon. I get an "Open file Security Warning" pop up. Shows run or cancel. Hit run it brings up "Win Zip Self Extractor" pop up. I have already supposedly unzipped this into the downloads. Have been through the issues of downloading Google Earth and think I have worked this out.

Dec 14, 2011Here I am, bebopping around the internet (looking for a sleep remedy) and suddenly, a dialog box popped up, saying that windows was updating itself. It looked like a normal Windows screen, "updated" itself, shut itself down, and rebooted to the welcome screen. I did nothing to warrant this, I didn't click on anything unusual. There was no option asking me if I agreed, or wanted it to be done. I use the Norton Web Safe deal, so I do not visit any sites that have the little red warning flag. I've been ignoring some "critical" updates (ones Microsoft thinks, like an updated version of IE) for a while, but I've never had my machine just up and do this on it's own. I'm obviously concerned about a virus, malware or whatever, but do run a current version of Norton Internet Security, which is updated regularly. A full system scan was done yesterdaty, and a quick one this morning the seach found nothing but the normal cookies. Would Windows decide suddenly that it really really needed to update itself like this? Note, I was in a user mode, since I try not to log into the admin, to help avoid unwanted software installing itself.

Windows 7 64 Bit Gaming - Shutdowns Without Warning
Sep 12, 2011Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2 have caused my computer to totally shutdown without warning after about 20-30 mins of play. Then after maybe 3-5 mins after the shutdown the computer restarts its self. First game I installed into this machine was Shogun 2 and I did not have a problem with shutdowns. However I haven't played that game in awhile. I am going to format harddrive and reinstall windows 7.

Oct 28, 2012I recently purchased a lenovo laptop for home purpose around 1.5 months back. The laptop was having already microsoft security essentials (MSE) and mcafee antivirus plus software. Unfortunately, yesterday i was facing blue screen on death type of error (BSOD) error. On one forum, I found that it may be due to the mcafee antivirus software. So, I uninstalled the software as per suggestion.Why MSE was not able to detect this bsod error? Moreover, why mcafee, which itself is a anti-virus software, was causing this issue?
Morever, I want to install good free antivirus software. I am totally confused whether should I install the antivirus software or, the internet security software. Please throw more light on good free internet security software from longer perspective. (I just found that almost all free trials are only for 1 month only)? Moreover, why built-in windows firewall and microsoft security essentials (MSE) are not enough for detecting malacious software. Why extra internet security software or antivirus software is required ?

Oct 21, 2012Yesterday and today I'm constantly getting warnings from windows, that it detected a problem and suggested to backup my hard drive. I currently have 2 drives. the c:/ is where windows resides (60gb ssd drive). The second one is an older (3 years old) from my old computer where my programs reside. It is this latter one D:/ (500gb seagate barracuda) where windows is telling me to backup.
I just installed another WD 500GB black (also about 3 years old) so I could backup the D: drive. The computer is running fine. Is windows accurate in being able to find hard disk problems before they become an issue? I'm afraid that if I take out the drive and send it back to seagate they might not find anything wrong with it. Is there a way to test and fix it with software?

Aug 25, 2011I recently bought a notebook PC, and was quite annoyed to find that Intel has magically removed the ability to change the Centrino N 130 wireless adapter's MAC address.Before the nutters get in here with accusations of "illegal" activity, I feel obligated to point out that there is nothing "illegal" about changing the MAC address on my own property. Briefly, I want to pose my notebook as a hypothetical attacker, trying to bump one of my other wireless devices off the router by assuming its MAC address. I don't really know what would happen if I did this, because, like I said, Intel artificially crippled the Centrino N 130 through its Windows 7 drivers. Rather paternalistic of them.Another benefit of the proposed experiment: showing the futility of MAC filtering in keeping out the "bad guys." I have been convinced of this for some time, but been simultaneously unable to demonstrate it to my own satisfaction. There is no substitute for actually trying something, rather than just reading about it.
I am also a little annoyed at the Centrino N's (lack of) performance. I have yet to have it connect at greater than 72 Mbit/s, even while sitting less than 10 feet from the router with a clear line of sight.FWIW, my router is a NetGear WNR3500v2. N wireless is enabled. As far as I know, this router is capable of supporting a full 300 Mbit or so 802.11n wireless connection, as long as the wireless NIC on the other end is doing its part (which mine doesn't).With all that in mind, can someone suggest an N-capable wireless NIC that is not purposely crippled by its manufacturer? I would prefer an internal mini-PCIe card, but Intel seem to be the only ones making those. Even a G-capable or USB device would probably serve the purpose, if that's all that's available.

Jan 8, 2013Since about 1 month my PC turns randomly off. Sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 2. Mostly when in Idle or when I'm watching movies on a second Monitor (TV but it also crashes if it is unplugged so thats not the reason). Sometimes when I try to boot again it wont start except if I turn off the PSU for ~15 seconds. Sometimes when I reboot there's an error message "Asus Anti Surge was triggered".
I already tried:
- Replaced my OCZ ModXstream 600w with a Corsair AX750 PSU
- Stock settings in Bios
- Asus Anti surge deactivated
- Changed the power outlet to another one

Random Restarts Without Warning?
Mar 13, 2012i am in a mess with my pc.Something is wrong with it but i do not know what..??anyways the problem i am facing is very peculiar , my pc restarts automatically when log on to my desktop in windows 7 .No BOSD...No warnings...After restarts ...i start again...it starts and again the same thing...i tried SAFE MODE...it works fine...i left it for almost an hour and it was fine ...but it normal mode it restarts within seconds...so i am guessing that this is neither a hardware nor a overheating issue..so then what is the problem...software...????I have already tried a fresh install previously ... the problem comes back....i tried to check the event viewer ...it says.."Event 41"...i have cleared up my cabinet clean..the fans are working smooth...recently got a new graphic card....no noise ...nothing..but still it restarts...what can be the reason...????i am using a quad core intel processor with asus p5q pro and gts 250 grapich card.
