View 3 RepliesI've just moved flat and after I did my computer keeps rebooting itself every so often. There doesn't seem to be any reason to it. I've check that all my fans are still working and that all the cables and cards and what not are corrected install and that something hasn't been knocked but everything seems fine to me. I had a wee gander round the internet and it pointed me to check my system log and the two error codes I'm getting every time this happens is: Event I.D 41 + Event I.D 6008. The I have just recently got a new Graphics card, 4gb extra of ram and a wireless adapter. These were all installed on a clean version of windows 7.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had my computer do this awhile ago, but I had fixed it. My GPU fan wasn't spinning, causing it to overheat and then auto restart to prevent damage. This is no longer the issue as my graphics card fan is fully functional and my temperatures are now what seem to be normal. This isn't a gaming GPU, but I'm not really playing any stressful games. I have a AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB, and I'm playing Minecraft. I downloaded a program to monitor temperatures and my graphics card never rises above 121* F while playing Minecraft. After awhile of playing Minecraft or any other mildly stressful application, my computer auto restarts. I know it is not my CPU, which never rises above 65* F. I cannot imagine what could be overheating, or if that is even the problem. No recent hardware changes, nor software changes.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHere I am, bebopping around the internet (looking for a sleep remedy) and suddenly, a dialog box popped up, saying that windows was updating itself. It looked like a normal Windows screen, "updated" itself, shut itself down, and rebooted to the welcome screen. I did nothing to warrant this, I didn't click on anything unusual. There was no option asking me if I agreed, or wanted it to be done. I use the Norton Web Safe deal, so I do not visit any sites that have the little red warning flag. I've been ignoring some "critical" updates (ones Microsoft thinks, like an updated version of IE) for a while, but I've never had my machine just up and do this on it's own. I'm obviously concerned about a virus, malware or whatever, but do run a current version of Norton Internet Security, which is updated regularly. A full system scan was done yesterdaty, and a quick one this morning the seach found nothing but the normal cookies. Would Windows decide suddenly that it really really needed to update itself like this? Note, I was in a user mode, since I try not to log into the admin, to help avoid unwanted software installing itself.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2 have caused my computer to totally shutdown without warning after about 20-30 mins of play. Then after maybe 3-5 mins after the shutdown the computer restarts its self. First game I installed into this machine was Shogun 2 and I did not have a problem with shutdowns. However I haven't played that game in awhile. I am going to format harddrive and reinstall windows 7.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 will delete "Read-Only" files without providing any warning (unlike XP). Windows Media Player 12 will overwrite files which have the "Read-Only" attribute set. How to make Windows 7 (& WMP) obey the "Read-Only" attribute on files?
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday and today I'm constantly getting warnings from windows, that it detected a problem and suggested to backup my hard drive. I currently have 2 drives. the c:/ is where windows resides (60gb ssd drive). The second one is an older (3 years old) from my old computer where my programs reside. It is this latter one D:/ (500gb seagate barracuda) where windows is telling me to backup.
I just installed another WD 500GB black (also about 3 years old) so I could backup the D: drive. The computer is running fine. Is windows accurate in being able to find hard disk problems before they become an issue? I'm afraid that if I take out the drive and send it back to seagate they might not find anything wrong with it. Is there a way to test and fix it with software?
It does it once a day, yesterday it was about 3:30 pm today it was 11:30 am its done it at 9 pm and I have windows update service disabled on the msconfig startup.

I had problems with this computer doing this before and sent it to HP they said they fixed it that only lasted for 3 months and it's doing it again now my contract is up with them for free repair. I open it up and sprayed a can of air into it still didn't do anything to stop it.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSince about 1 month my PC turns randomly off. Sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 2. Mostly when in Idle or when I'm watching movies on a second Monitor (TV but it also crashes if it is unplugged so thats not the reason). Sometimes when I try to boot again it wont start except if I turn off the PSU for ~15 seconds. Sometimes when I reboot there's an error message "Asus Anti Surge was triggered".
I already tried:
- Replaced my OCZ ModXstream 600w with a Corsair AX750 PSU
- Stock settings in Bios
- Asus Anti surge deactivated
- Changed the power outlet to another one
My hardware:
i5 3570k @4,3 GHZ
Asus Sabertooth Z77
GeiL Evo Corsa 16GB
Sapphire AMD 6970HD
2 Harddisks 250/500gb
1 SSD OCZ Agility 3 120gb
And like I mentioned 2 different PSU's.
OCZ ModXstream 600w
Corsair AX750
I have an acer Extensa 5620Z laptop and recently, without any warning it just restarts. A blue screen appears out of nowhere and then the computer restarts. When I was able to choose how to restartt I chose safe mode and went to the event log where it said "The driver detected a controller error on DeviceIdeIdePort2.". I've tried downloading the files I need to repair my Windows 7 Home Pro Pro but I can't get it to run.I'm waiting on a 2-disc package from Asus that contains Windows 7 but I really don't want to loose all of the data on my harddrive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 64 home premium installed on the following computer:
Intel i5 2500K (3.30Ghz, 4core, 6MB cache)
Asus P4H67
8 GB Ram
2TB Hard drive
and when running a specific application (that task manager says is only using about 500 MB), Windows gives me a Low Memory warning, even though taskman says there is about 4000MB free memory. Does anyone know what would be causing windows to think it has low memory when, in fact, it has more than half of its physical memory empty.More info? I have a 25GB Swap file configured and over 300GB free on my main hard drive. The app that is working when Windows complains is Sony Vegas 9, and the warning message shows up both in Vegas as well as explorer.I have tested the ram and it is all working, and I can fill it right up by starting a beefy instance of bukkit, so I know the meter successfully registers up to the full 8GB ram, but when the error happens, it's somewhere between 3 and 3.8 GB used.
Tried it twice without and then with compatibility mode - each time BSOD before the installation can complete.
Fortunately you can boot back up again successfully. Good job as SA wont uninstall in Safe Mode.
I had to download and run their uninstaller as it fails to appear in CP > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
I've attached it if anyone else falls victim. It takes a couple of seconds to run and then reboot is necessary.
It's a pity as SA is quite a good anti-spyware agent & is a good last resort against Vundo before going the Hijackthis route.
