I suddenly noticed no sound from the rear speakers. (5+1) W7 64.I have creative XI-FI elite pro. The creative test would give a faint garbled sound from the rear spekaers, so I know the wiring is connected. However in windows the test sounds are totally off. All obvious settings are as supposed to be.I did run combofix a few weeks ago, and then I made a windows system restore.

I then bought an internal sound card as i only had 2 speaker inputs on my pc, but then found out that my motherboard has only 1 PCI slot. So i had to buy an external sound card for the surround sound to work (this one) I connected it all up, put the wires in the correct places, but the rear speakers do not play any sound. I know they work, as I put the rear jack into the front output to test them. If I go into sound, then try to configure it to 5.1 I don't have the option to select rear speakers. (picture of what i mean) I can't go into enhancements to select fill speakers either as the tab isn't showing up in properties. And also, as I'm using an external sound card (USB), nothing shows up in Realtek HD audio manager, so I'm not able to do it from there.

I configured for a Quadraphonic Speakers configuration. Tested sound, using Manage Audio Device, at all four speakers and I could hear the sound. However, when I used the Window Medial Player or any other player, no rear speakers sound can be heard.

I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus. [code] I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?

From that date till now it as no sound from the speakers but it is ok from the headphones. Tried different audio drivers but no results. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.
I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.
I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.
I accidentally deleted my speaker and now i don't know how to get the sound back.If i go to the "control panel" then "Hardware and Sound" then double click on the icon sound. I can see only headphones under the tab "Playback". There is no speaker under this tab.Could you please help me get the speaker back and thus the sound.I went to start menu then right click on computer then "manage" then "services and applications" then "services" to see if windows audio was stopped. it was not but I restarted "Windows Audio" &"Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" to see if I could get the sound back. I have the latest realtek drivers AC'97 audio and the high definition audio in the device manager but both have a yellow exclamation mark next to them. Then when I click on it, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

My right speaker is busted, only my left speaker works. On my dual boot Windows XP, I could move all of my sound to my left speaker, but on Windows 7, I see no way to do this.
Is there a way to do it on Windows 7? Or maybe a program is needed to intercept the sound to make it go to the left speaker?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new pc, Dell, with a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card, and a Creative T6160 speaker set. The speakers should be a 5.1 surround system (and in facts i have 5 speakers + subwoofer) but it seems i can't make the subwoofer work at all. Had only 2 speakers working since yesterday, i played a little with the Creative control panel and it seems i made all 5 work together. The problem is that, from the Creative speaker test section (the one where you can make the voice play "this is the front right speaker", "this is the front left speaker" etc.) all works fine except the subwoofer. I looked at the back of my sound card and everything seems done right. Black jack is in the black hole, lime jack in the lime hole and orange jack in the orange hole. The Creative control panel recognizes them as 5.1. Still can't make the sub work. I even tried plugging the green/black jack into the orange hole and i managed to hear the "bzzzz" test sound which should come out from the sub, but nothing happens when i do the opposite (orange jack plugged in green or black hole).

Its a dell studio 1555 with IDT High Definition Audio Codec with windows 7 x64 Ultimate OS. I had to give a clean OS after a fatal crash and sound is giving a weird problem from then. No sound through my speaker;only through headphones. If I remove headphone then IDT setup options pop ups and I cant' work until headphone is there.... Problem is I'm not sure the driver is running well with Windows 7 because there are random hissing sounds coming out. Once it comes out, it won't stop until I remove my usb and plug it back again.
So I want to try compatibility mode with XP and Vista, but I am unsure how to do this.
I recently having this problem with my computer. It randomly locks up, mostly few minutes after it boots up and a loud screech sound comes from the speakers. I thought it was something wrong with something I installed so I deleted the old partition and trying to install a new windows 7 but it locks up during installation on the "installing features". Now I am stuck where I cannot even boot up my computer. I am thinking there is something wrong with my RAM or hard drive.

I am using Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 laptop. Yesterday, I made several updates (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit updates, upgrade to K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.8.4 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0-64bit, upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus 2012 and so forth...). After that, when I play sounds and plug my headphone, the sounds keep playing through BOTH headphone and speaker.This is extremely annoyed me because I have to work in the library, lab and class room with my laptop usually and I can't listen to music while studying with this problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha headset for Christmas and tried them out. I plugged in the USB thing that came with it, which allowed you to plug the headphones and mic into a USB port, and it installed the device fine. Right now I have to send them back because of a problem with the headset. But when I unplugged the USB I noticed that I have no speaker in playback devices. And when I plug in my older headphones into the front of the computer they don't appear in the playback devices. I tried checking "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices" but all I get are four Digital Audio (HDMI) devices. The same thing shows up in Device Manager. I could use my headphones but only when the Sound Blaster USB thing was plugged in. I have Realtek High Definition Audio but now it doesn't show up in Device Manager. Also, my speakers are built into my monitor.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a Realtek HD Audio sound card. Whenever I use several headphones in the front jack, they all work perfectly fine. However, whenever I have my speakers (I tried using 2 different pairs of speakers to make sure it wasn't just one pair being affected) SECURELY inserted into the back green port of my computer, there is sound only coming from the left speaker while the right speaker is playing absolutely no sound. This happened to both pairs of speakers that I own.
I have tried the following and none worked:
- Update drivers
- Disable speaker and then enable
- Switching from back jack to front jack (vice versa)
- Balancing so that both L and R sounds are at an equal level
None of these common solutions that I found on this site have worked.
When i installed Windows 7 everything was fine but only my sound from speaker aren't working. I have Gateway CX2724 laptop. When i had Vista and XP it worked fine but now it doesnt. Please let me know how to fix it. I will appreciate a lot.

View 2 Replies View Relatedok, so i talk to best buy and what they said is that theoreticaly it would work to just take the negitive and positive leads, connect resistors and LEDs... good to go, but without a series of switchs, when i crank the volume it would blow the resistors and leds. the guy i talked to said hes done it and it would be too hard to do as a one man job, but obviously it works for some people online without needing all the switches, so what will work for me. i calculated the max voltage for my speaker system is 120 volts, so if i resisted that much, wouldnt it still work, if the max is 120, turning the volume up wouldnt put it past 120 volts. so why would it blow? radio shack advised me to go to a car sterio installer and see what they say. one thing geek squad mention is that one of them a while back bought some sound activated leds from NewEgg that plug directly into the sound card audio out and are like a third party device that just bypasses the audio but reads the signal and plays the leds to the tune. speaker modding im trying to do to give me some clear cut directions on how to do it. i know these things are really hard somtimes to do because they are so individualized but accentually what i need is for someone to make me a blue print of sort. i need clear cut verry defined reasoning behind why things are done a certain way. what they are protecting me against. and how it would turn out if i follow step by step. i hate when people are vague, it leads to screw ups so.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange problem with my mouse. This is the first wireless mouse I have ever used. At first I thought is was my mouse that was acting up. Now I am pretty sure it is my USB ports in the rear of the computer.
My problem is my mouse pointer stops moving constantly. It resembles a trashy ball mouse the way it stops moving with the exception that my pointer suddenly catches up with where it needs to be. During all this time I was considering the possibilities that it could be my mouse or a glitch in windows 7 build 7229.
A few nights ago for the first time my mouse quit responding. I was forced to check it out and try a different port. Non of the rear ports seem to work so I tried a front port. I did not have any trouble with the mouse on the front port. After a few hours I tried a different rear port and after a while the same thing started again. Now for the second time switching back to the front port without any problems.
I am curious if anyone else has had this problem. What do you think it could be?I realize this could be fixed in the Retail versions of Windows 7?
Maybe a driver update is needed.
Does this sound like a problem with the USB chip?
Could there be interference with my wireless network adapter?
I'm not really sure where to start diagnostics. I don't really want to pull my adapter if I can get out of it. What do you guys think?
W7 does not seem to recognize front or rear mic jacks. Tried with 2 mics, one brand new, I am using built in W7 recorder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot hear any sound from my PC, I tried connecting through both the front panel and the back panel to no avail.I however did notice that the only panel option available on Realtek HD seems to be the Realtek HD Audio rear output and that doesn't work.It's quite frustrating because I can't hear any sound from my computer even when I used a headphone.
1. how do I change from Realtek HD Audio rear output ie back panel to front panel?

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and have since then not been able to use my speakers correctly since. It's important you know that they worked just fine a few days ago before I reinstalled. I did of course do a full format of the hard drive. When I'm configuring the speakers in Windows to 5.1, I'm not getting any feedback from the two rear speakers.My speakers are Logitech Z5500, motherboard Asus 880G Extreme3, sound card Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro. Enabling X-Fi CMSS-3D doesn't do anything either but make the volume of the front speakers a bit lower to compensate for the supposed increased volume of the rear speakers. Which is non existent anyway.
I tried plugging the cables (I use analogue) into the on-board sound card's ports and had the same problem, which tells me it isn't a problem with the Creative sound card, but most likely something in Windows that I'm missing. Testing the speakers through the receiver works just fine. I have also tried removing the drivers I installed completely and reinstalled to see if it just was some installation error. I have also tried removing the on-board sound card drivers and disabling the on-board sound card in BIOS while trying to install the Creative drivers again. This shouldn't have worked anyway since I'm having the same problem with the two sound cards.
I have a new pc with a Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 motherboard and I plugged a Microsoft 600 Wired Keyboard into the rear port (designated for KB/Mouse by Gigabyte). The keyboard works in the BIOS, but when Windows 7 loads, the num lock light switches on, then Windows 7 says that "Driver not installed properly". In the Devices & Printers window, it shows an icon of the keyboard with a yellow exclamation mark and says "hardware not available". However, mouse continues to work. This happens in all the rear USB ports. If I plug the keyboard in the front port, Windows recognizes the keyboard, install the correct driver and it works! All the USB ports work fine otherwise (tested with thumb drive as well as mouse). I also tried with a Logitech K120 wired keyboard which also had the same problem.!!
