Yesterday I Windows installed an update and this morning it unpacked the packages upon the Windows loading screen.After this my PC rebooted, and it came to the Windows loading screen again, but at the moment it should change to my login screen, my PC instandly rebooted! This happens every time and then it goes into system recovery, but it says it can't fix it.I don't know what to do, and I really don't want to lose my files.

So don't know how things were just before the shutdown or anything.when i turn on the computer i get to the screen where "touch bios" is and where i can see the options like Bios settings, boot menu, xpress recovery.but i cant press anything, and after about two seconds on that screen the PC shuts down again.The keyword lights up so there is a responds on it, but just doesn't work to press anything before it shuts down.I've got BSOD upto several times a day for a few months time.believe that my computer is affected by some virus or something is delaying my computer. might be an combination of several things.I got no external things hugged up to the stationeer computer right now.it is a windows 7 x64 machine.
usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.
Each time I start Windows update, the % doesn't go above 0 and looks like it always stays paused. Why does this happen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Windows Update. It's managed to install a few updates, bust most of the updates that it automatically finds fail to install (many important ones too - security updates, etc.). A bit frustrating. For the past couple of days, it tries to install the same two updates every time I turn off the computer. The process takes about 40 minutes. Then it shuts off without an error message. Afterwards, when I turn the computer on again, it doesn't say anything but there are once more two updates that need to be installed - the same ones. It's been quite frustrating. For now, I've got the updates turned off, so it won't try to install them any more, but that's only a workaround and no solution.
I think the problem might be connected with some other installations problems. I've tried to download the updates and install them manually, but it didn't work either; first it said that my virus scanner was interfering (I disconnected from the Internet, deactivated the virus scanner, and tried it again, which got a little bit further but not all the way). At the end I got a kind of dubious error message, which I sadly haven't written down, but it was similar to the ones that I got when I tried to install Microsoft Office and also was unable to get the installation to run through to the end. In both instances, the installation was almost done, after which I got a message that there was a problem with some assembly components, and then it undid the changes. This normally took more than an hour - 30 minutes for the installation to get to the point where it started over, an hour to get it to cancel itself. Haven't found a solution there, and that sucks, because I really need it. I've got a lot of files saved in OneNote format that I can't use and need for work.
The Office error messages led me to a couple of forums where it had worked out because people had updated their .NET framework. I can't do that because .NET is part of the OS framework in Windows 7, apparently. Then I read that some other people had just used Windows Update to update their OS, and then it worked. That's what led me to the discovery that my updates weren't working. I believe that that's got something to do with the problem.I've installed some software, but there's the problem with Windows - I can't install it at all. Not sure what to do here. Windows Update lets me look at the update history. I've found that I get the error code 643 for the two updates that have repeated over the past two days again and again. For the other ones it's a little different; they tried to install once and didn't work. For those, I get following code: 80080005.
My Windows Update is failing. For whatever reason, my Vaio cannot install Windows 7 SP1. The update fails and it returns variations of unknown error or errors whose numbers are nowhere to be found when I search. (I've tried it 7 times, got 5 5 error numbers and 2 unknown errors.).Right now, I'm following the troubleshooting steps at microsoft.com. It had me run the Windows Update troubleshooter, which claimed to make changes so the update would install. It didn't install.
The site claims that it could take "several minutes" and to not close the installer "even if the progress bar appears to stop, don't cancel the installation." Fine, I haven't. But the progress bar hasn't moved. As in, there's no green in the bar at all. It has been running for over two hours. I know I got the right file; I checked my Windows 7 Version before I downloaded.
It's just hanging at "Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) (update 1 of 1)" How long do I wait? Have any of you encountered this? What do I do nextI'm technically adept enough to follow directions - but that's where my computer expertise ends. When I searched the forums (maybe I didn't search well enough?) I didn't find this problem, but others mentioning similar issues with the SP1 update and other people successfully running the updater.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem appeared in two different laptops (Lenovo and Fujitsu). The bluetooth hardware is not visible in device manager anymore, but unrecognized device appeared. Driver reinstall doesn't help. Driver installation setup says there is no bluetooth hardware. PC Suite is installed , worked fine before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS Studio MT 435 with a two HDD RAID0 system. It has three partitions:
1) C: System,
2) D: Recovery
3) Unnnamed.
It shipped with Vista Home and I upgrade to Win 7 Home. HDD1 was causing errors...the RAID0 was dying. I was getting many BSODs.I bought Acronis True Image Home 2012.I was NOT able to clone the entire disk as an image because of the BSODs.I was able to backup (sector by sector) the C: and D: partitions. I did not backup the unnamed partition.I was also able to have Win 7 backup save off the C: partition.I then replaced to the two hard drives (WD 640 GB) with two new hard drives (Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB) and reestablished the RAID0 with these new drives.First I used the Win 7 recovery CD and its backup to restore the C: partition. The restore was successful but it wouldn't boot. There was no MBR. Windows didn't ask about nor put a MBR back on the system.Next I used Acronis recovery CD and its backup to restore the C: partition.It did ask about a MBR, which I said to do. The restore was successful and when complete, it booted up to the Win 7 login.I logged in and checked things out.Everything seemed fine, my stuff was back. Until I tried Windows Update.If failed saying that the service isn't running.I checked, the server was running so its a false error report.
I found Fix It for Windows Update and it did stuff but no good. Windows Update still fails.I then got a clue that it won't run unless Windows thinks the software is genuine. So I ran the MS validation site. It reported that I was missing files and to fix that I needed to install Windows from a genuine DVD. Which I have.I ran the installer (in custom mode, it wouldn't install in express mode as the DVD was older version). The installation almost completed and I get a dialog box saying the Win 7 was not compatible with my hardware.I don't know what to try next. Of course I have compatable hardware, it was running on the old drives and running on the new drives with a broken Windows Update.I feel that I'm so close to being fully back up and I don't want to give in and start from scratch by install Windows on a wiped disk and then loading all the programs and data file one by one back onto the system.
I'm encountering an extremely strange issue on my desktop. I keep getting SSL errors when ever I try to go to google.com, gmail.com or dozens of other sites on google chrome. The exact error is "The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm". I can't reach the site at all.Windows Update service is also not running and doesn't even show up in "services.msc". I get this error "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer". Obviously restarting doesn't help. I also got a similar error for Microsoft Security Essentials, and it wouldn't run at all so I uninstalled it.MSI Afterburner also gives me an error when I start it up about how I need to restart to properly detect my hard ware, but I didn't do that before and I tried restarting with that as well.I've run many, many, scans to detect trojans, viruses, and spyware using AVG Free, Spybot Search and Destroy, Malware Bytes, Spyware Doctor, Kapernsky's Rootkit tool. AVG, and Malware Bytes both turned up and deleted some basic malware & spyware. The others can't detect anything.
View 18 Replies View RelatedInstall Windows, PC works perfectly, install drivers still works, reboot it and still works, shut down then after 5 minutes turn on it still works, install some programs and it still works(always reboot, shuting down and turning on to see if there is a program that causes the problem).Until this point everything is OK but at night I shut down the PC to go to my bed and when I wake up and turn it on, Windows just freezes at Starting Windows screen, even the logo doesn't show up. So sometimes I use a recovery point and sometimes I have to format and reinstall Windows because all my recover points just disappear, when I use one of the two things I said I'm able to start Windows again but when I shut it down again the problem happens again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 mo. old laptop. Windows 7 doesn't start for 15 min- sometimes less. When it times out it takes the same amount of time to get it back up again. I turn on the laptop, windows screen appears but no icon to open it to the desktop appears for several minutes. This repeats everytime the computer times out and goes into sleep mode. I'm pretty new at this and might be making a mistake somewhere.

It's Speedfan, so I can monitor temperatures. I put a shortcut to it in my Start Menu - Programs - Startup folder. If I click on that shortcut it starts the app. But the app never starts when I log in. It shows in the start menu in MSCONFIG and it is enabled.

This morning I saw it was updating itself when I turned it on, took long. It worked fine so I ignored it. In the middle of nothing it suddenly restarted and now it says windows can't start. When I try to repair it gets stuck loading files, and when I go to the advanced boot options, it won't start on safe mode or with Last Known Good Configuration. I always end up in the sane place, stuck loading files. i know next to nothing, so I'm afraid I'll kill it if I continue trying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago I replaced my hard drive on my laptop. After reinstalling Windows 7 from some recovery disks I had I went through the process of updating the OS. After about a week of the computer being fine I went through another batch of windows updates and windows would not start. It kept going into the system repair which would never finish and bring me to the recovery manager. I can't do a system restore because my computer keeps telling me I have no recovery points. Even though I checked and I did have recovery points before this problem. The only thing I have been able to do is a factory reset. I have done it 3 times so far and each time after about a week this problem happens again. I'm not exactly sure which update it is but I do know that it an update after the SP1 update.

I tried booting my Win 7 64 bit recovery disc (aka system repair disc) but in the second screen where it tells you to select an operating system, it is blank! I attempted to add hard disk drivers but i couldn't figure out how. So i pressed next and got to the screen with various options. I selected "Startup Repair" but that won't work. It says that "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically".

Although it has updated in the past, I am now not able to start the Windows Update Service. There is no malware on the system and I have tried several methods found on the internet such as resetting the service. I have also been unable to install MATS RunWindowsUpdate.
I am running windows 7 32-bit and a few days ago I installed a windows update. When my computer restarted it entered the loading screen, but then the screen went black and after failing to load windows, gave me the option to start system repair. I did, and was subsequently able to run system restore, which took me back to before the update and my computer started normally again. I turned off automatic updating, but today when I restarted my pc the update installed again. Tried running startup repair, but there is no more option to enter system restore. When startup repair finishes, it says it can't automatically fix the problem. Upon entering advance restore options and selecting system restore, it indicates that the specified action could not be located and in any other instance says that system restore is offline.

I am running Win 7 (64 bit) with IE 9 and also Norton Internet Security 2012 The default version of IE9 is that I have always used in Program Files (x86) folder (32 bit version I believe) I keep getting asked to run the Java Version checker which tells me there is an updated version that I should instal. I did so, and now my icons are completely gone. I can still see the text under the icons and can still access the programs, however they are running slower than normal.Also, on a related note, nothing happens when I click the start menu button.I am running Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit. I have tried all the fixes to no avail, even launched in safe mode.

I'm guessing clean install but looking for some idea before that.
i5 2500k on Gigabyte P67-UD3 if it's any help. The bios update was from F3 to F7.
My computer won't start after Windows 7 critical update 1/11/13. I was able to start in safe mode and restore to an earlier date. However, that only worked for 1 day. Now it won't connect to wireless either.

All I could see was the background. I tried the "ctrl+shift+esc" method to fix it, but when I hit those keys nothing happened. I'm at a loss, and I don't want to return the computer!

I tried to troubleshoot in Network and Sharing Centre but nothing came up, so I restarted to see if this helped. After restarting the internet still wasn't working (I have a wireless connection) so I thought the problem may have been due to a system update that was installed that morning, so I did a system restore to that point. However, upon restarting, the computer stopped on a black screen.I then turned the laptop off at the switch and back on again, however the computer got to the stage that the log-in screen should come up and remained black. Now, whenever I try to turn the computer on, it gets to just before the log-in screen and remains black (however the mouse remains on screen and can be moved) - also, Safe Mode doesn't start either and stops at a black screen shortly after I choose to start it.
