Windows 7 Does Not Start Up
Mar 6, 2011
My computer showed the BSOD when i opened a file and then the BSOD kept showing up with the iastor.sys. Then i put in the Windows 7 Recovery disc and i opened the command prompt and entered the following commands
-Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
-Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
I read on another forum that this should've fixed my problem but it didnt.Once i restarted and from every restart from then on i get a super fast BSOD that i cant even make out what it is and then restarts my computer to a screen that says Windows Failed to Start and gives the options of Start Windows Normally or Launch Startup Repair, which sits at a screen for 10 minutes then tells me it cant fix the problem automatically and restarts). I cannot load any type of safe mode or normal windows. I cant even get to the login screen anymore it straight BSODs really quick then restarts.I can't even get into Safe Mode.Reformatting wouldn't be one of my options because i still have many important files in the computer which haven't been backed up.

I have a video card that used to boot up in windows 7 - but know this computer with a GeForce 9500GT video card boots up with the Vista boot up logo.I found out this was the video card because I have another card with another GeForce video.I took the swapped the video cards, and the indication changed. The original computer booted with the windows start up screen. And the test computer booted up with the vista boot up screen.
I was told by a local computer repair facility this had something to do with video drivers.I tried what the organization suggested and uninstalled all video drivers (I used generic Windows 7 Video Drivers). Then the organization recommended downloading the latest video drivers for the GeForce 9500GT.This video card has 512GBytes of memory. I did this. Then I was told to install the newly downloaded video drivers.I resrted the computer with the Vista login screen with windows 7 operating system, and the vista login screen was displayed.

Last night I was on my computer and then I shut it down. Today when I came home from work it keeps saying windows failed to start. I tried hitting f8 and loading to the last good configuration doesn't work, safe mode same thing, repairing nothing, so my last resort was my windows 7 cd. So I went into bios and made my configuration boot from cd/dvd popped it in and restarted, a black screen came up saying windows is loading files, then the windows 7 menu came up, picked my language, next, and first I tried repair my computer, I get the little circle meaning its loading for like 5 seconds them it does nothing, rebooted again but this time I chose, install and I've been on the setup is starting for like 20 min. And forgot to mention, when it boots seem like it does good then comes to the screen where it says windows failed and gives me two options repair our start normal, if I pick repair it just reboots and start normal takes me to like the pick your user screen but its just blank no users, so I can't even restore our access the computer.

My dell n5030 laptop isnt getting past the windows start up screen. It boots up fine up to the part where the four balls become the windows logo, but then freezes there everytime. When i try to select the windows start up repair it blacks out the screen and I cant do anything.
I know its not a faulty hard drive because its newly fitted and this problem occured previously on a different hard drive aswell.

I have Windows Ultimate (x64).I use the Asus Suite II supplied with my Asus Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 Motherboard (which I like for fan and temperature monitoring) Ai Suite II always loads BUT "on screen" it is messy during loading because a seemingly AI Suite bar sized white artefact appears top left of screen for 10- 20 seconds before disappearing when the AI suite icon appears in the notification tray. Sometimes a white square also appears temporarily.I have noted that if I exit Ai Suite II and reload via the Asus AI suite supplied Shortcut I never get these artefacts AND the suite loads instantaneously (I note however Asus uses AI Suite II.exe via the shortcut but via the Asus installed Task Schedule it open via "AsRoutineController.exe -open"I have also tried unloading AI Suite II and AsRoutineController.exe and loading AsRoutineController.exe and it too loads cleanly and almost instantaneously.
1) Why does Asus use the Task scheduler instead of loading via the normal Windows Startup procedures?
2) Could it be so each can be easily disabled if required) and is that the ONLY reason?
3) what is the -open switch in the command line?
4) Is there ANY good reason why I should not disable the AI Suite II in the Task Scheduler and add it the the Normal Windows Startup applications I use the Free version of Startup Delayer as it has served me wonderfully with my current Win 7 O/S (and my previous XP) in ensuring all desired Notification Tray Icons display EVERY time).
Today I PROVISIONALLY made the change and AI Suite II opens cleanly (as other Startup apps) without temporary white artefacts and with no noted side effects so far. I am nervous however, to make it permanent without advice from knowledgeable Seven Forums members on this subject

I'm not sure where to even begin to fix these problems. Some online searches suggested doing a system repair but I want to get some more feedback here before proceeding. Here is the message from the event log:The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AFD
cmdGuard
cmdHlp
CSC
DfsC
discache
ElbyCDIO
[code]...
I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues.

When i got home today didn't my computer work, my girlfriend has been the last one using it. So don't know how things were just before the shutdown or anything.when i turn on the computer i get to the screen where "touch bios" is and where i can see the options like Bios settings, boot menu, xpress recovery.but i cant press anything, and after about two seconds on that screen the PC shuts down again. The keyword lights up so there is a responds on it, but just doesn't work to press anything before it shuts down.I've got BSOD upto several times a day for a few months time.believe that my computer is affected by some virus or something is delaying my computer. might be an combination of several things.I got no external things hugged up to the stationeer computer right now.it is a windows 7 x64 machine.
usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.

When I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

1. Which DLL uses W7/64 for the sound at start-up of Windows? I would like to edit it for my own sound.
2. How can I alter the sequence of the entries in the Start-menu? Now the sequence is in sequence of creation, I would like to group them by application-area.

using windows 7, have a blue screen at start up issue, memory dump. Sadly the PC wont start so unable to try too much, it lets you select user, attempts to ,log onto the user then just goes to mthe blue screen and starts the cycle again. It will not start in safe mode either, basically the same result although sometimes it loads and you are in but when you try to do anything it goes to the blue screen again. I did get the error code (not always the same on the blue screen but this one comes up most time), "driver IRQL not less or equal"

Yesterday, the task bar and Start button mysteriously disappeared.I've also found that the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" windowdoesn't come up. There are two places to click on in Control Panelthat should bring up this window, but it doesn't. The Control Panelborder changes color as if something is starting to happen, but thennothing happens, possibly indicating that some program starts to runbut then finds something wrong and exits. I didn't see anythinginteresting in the error logs. The desktop icons appear normally. The problem exists only when logging onto my son's account. When Ilog on as administrator, the task bar and Start button appearnormally. The usual tricks don't work: Ctrl+ESC, or bringing up Task Manager andtrying to rerun explorer.exe. I tried sfc to check for corruptedfiles, but none turned up. I ran an AVG scan and it did find one fileit considered a threat, which it removed, but that didn't solve theproblem.
I found a web site that referred to the registrykeyHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorerwhich has a NoSetTaskbar value that can be used to disable the"Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. On the administratorlogin, the Explorer subkey is there all right, but doesn't haveNoSetTaskbar. (It does have NoDriveTypeAutoRun.) But when I log ontomy son's account, the Policies key had no subkeys at all. I triedadding an Explorer subkey without adding any values, but this didn'tsolve the problem. I haven't yet tried adding a NoDriveTypeAutoRunvalue, but since this seems to pertain to AutoPlay it didn't seemrelevant to this problem.Any thoughts as to what might be going on or what might fix it?

I am trying to fix my dads computer and when i turn it on it asks for a HDD password and i know what that is so i type it in and it says windows starting and it stays on that screen forever until i reset the computer. So then i try start up repair and it again doesn't work and i have to re start computer. Now I have done a system recovery and also made a windows 7 disk to try to boot from but the disk wouldn't work. So i finally got the disk to work after using a command prompt but now i cant get the computer to re install windows 7. Now i am not an expert and half of these things i was guessing about how to do.

Have been using W7 for a couple of months - last night it decided to reboot and will not complete the reboot. Tried to repair using the W7 tools without success. I ran Sea tools and it found 4 bad sectors and fixed them. No change so far. It still will not start and go to the desktop. The W7 repairs returned no error codes so I'm at a loss of what has gone wrong. I am tempted to go back to XP if possible - which I doubt..I have Carbonite & the System Discs so I can reinstall W7 without losing anything but it will take a day or more. Is there a better way?

Some days ago I got a problem with my laptop. As first, my laptop crashed on the floor, while Windows 7 was running. But nothing happend, only started to run slowly. Some programs were not responding and I decided to force shutdown while pressing shutdown button on keyboard. And after that forced shutdown, I can't get into Windows 7. So I tried some things already. I tried to use system repair tool, but it can't start also. I can't get into safe mode, nor in any other mode in advanced boot options. When I try to start in safe mode, it start like this: [code] loaded: windowssystem32BOOTVID.dll and after that point it just says Please wait but nothing is happening after 20-30mins.If I try to start Windows normally, it just say Starting windows and then freeze. If I try to launch system repair, i just see mouse pointer on black screen, and that last for hours. Nothing is happening. So, as I have 2 partitions, I installed Linux on D partition and it just works great, and I see both partitions from Linux, so files are still there.Fix Windows 7 Does Not Start After Force Shutdown of Computer - KezNews.com and I downloaded WIndows PE and launched it from bootable USB drive, but nothing happend.

I have an HP HDX 18T laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. It was working fine until this morning when the log in screen froze after the computer woke up from standby. I held the power button down until the computer restartedThe startup process was REALLY slow. Finally, the log in screen came up. I typed in my password, but everything froze after that. After another hard reset, I tried running Startup Repair. The blue wallpaper background came up, but no window with any options. Everything froze. After several more hard resets, I've tried Safe Mode, Last Good Configuration and Low Res Mode. They all failed as well. Safe Mode was REALLY slow, but finally made it as far as showing a black desktop with nothing on it and no taskbar.I leave the frozen screens long enough, eventually BSOD will come up, but doesn't stay up long enough for me to write the codes down before auto-restarting.I have no additional hardware plugged in to the laptop at the moment except for a USB cooling pad.I think I have a recovery disk, but I won't be home to get it until tomorrow.

Now windows reports that it can't start and so goes into the auto repair process, after a while it says this computer can not be repaired automatically and asks me to click finish whereby it will start the whole process over again.

I dropped my laptop last night. It wasn't a hard drop.. And yet, windows 7 refuses to start. have a sony vaio. Whenever I run the quick web access without starting windows 7 it works.. And the vaio assist works too but not windows. It gives me two choices. Either to start windows normally, which doesn't work.. Just goes to a black screen or to scan for errors and repair.. I left it for seven hours to repair but it didn't do anything. I also tried restore.. It says restore is successful but then when it restarts, it doesn't work either.I have access to the terminal. It says X:\windowssystem32 if im not mistaken.
