Windows 7 Reinstalled - How To Get Ethernet Controller Working
Jul 30, 2012
I've just reinstalled windows on a friends PC in an attempt to improve its performance (it was slow and virus-ridden), and now can't seem to get the ethernet controller working. I installed windows 7 pro 32 bit, the processor is an AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 5200+ and the motherboard is a gigabyte M61pme-s2. I've tried the gigabyte website but there are no lan/ethernet drivers for that model.
Basically I reinstalled Windows 7 (Home Premium if it makes a difference) and wiped my hard-dive to attempt to get rid of a virus that made my computer crash constantly on start up. It didn't work, but that is beside the point. Now I'm getting driver errors about my Ethernet and Network Controller, and I can not connect to the internet with wireless or cables. Apparently I have WAN Miniport Network adapters and no other Network adapters.
Today suddenly my internet stopped for no reason! When I open the device manager and click on other devices and click network my Ethernet controller has a little yellow (!)sign next to it and when I click properties it says no driver installed, please tell me what to do! I have drivers I guess, I just installed an Atheros driver there for the network but somehow it doesn't recognize it or I do not know what is the problem/
My laptop is from Toshiba, model L650 PSK1JA OK3017. Here's Toshiba's driver page for my device: Support :: Toshiba ::Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and moreI recently purchased a blank hard drive along with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've installed all drivers listed on the page for a 64 bit system but when I try to install the "Intel Wireless LAN Driver (For Intel Model Only)" driver or Proset driver, the driver extraction begins, ends, but when the setup is meant to run, nothing happens. I've redownloaded it and attempted to install it twice to no avail.Basically, I cannot connect to the internet and Windows cannot detect my network adapterI can't call Toshiba support because their operating hours are when I'm at school.casionally, when I try running the driver I mentioned before and the extraction is complete, when I select "No" as to whether I want to run the file, Windows gives me the error: "Archive Extractor -- Error occured in system module [-135]".
I found this site while browsing on my iPod. Now why would I have to use my iPod when I have a beautiful new computer sitting in front of me? Well as the title says. I have no controllers, ergo, no Internet.I bought it second hand, absolutely nothing wrong with it, I think he just might of went too far when he wiped it before giving it to me.So, I came here hoping you guys could rescue me... I'm looking for the driver(s) I need, and I'm also wondering how I can manage to download them to my com if it's not online. I have;System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., LtdSystem Model: H55M-S2OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (6.1 build 7600)Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07ghz (4 CPUs)BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PGg that's all good, I read it all of my DxDiag.
My Toshiba Satillite L655-s5153 Laptop doesn't reconize the ethernet port when I plug in my wireless router to the ehternet port. How can this be fixed? I have no internet connection.
I was using my laptop fine for a few month now. I let a friend use it for a week and he "somehow" got a virus . I wasn't too stressed as i didn't have any personal information or anything important on it. So i reinstalled Windows using my flash drive, the iso from the Windows 7 Professional 64bit CD i had, and the Windows USB-DVD tool downloaded from Microsoft. I changed the boot priorities in BIOS to my USB drive, went through the installation setup and formatted all the partitions on my HDD and installed windows 7 professional 64bit. It loads up and for the most part works fine.First off my resolution will not go above 1024 x 768. Even though previously it was a lot higher, can't remember exact resolution, but was higher than that. Next, when i go to device manager, the following are listed under Other Devices with Yellow Exclamation points by them; Ethernet Controler, Network Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and SM Bus Controller. I've Googled, searched these forums, and tried each solution out there. But to no avail.I purchased the laptop from Best Buy but i do not have any kind of recovery CD's.
Basically i think windows is not properly recognizing the hardware i have installed. Because the laptop screen can go to a higher resolution, but windows won't recognize it properly. Even Windows Aero isn't working properly, and the computer is marketed as a gaming laptop, so i know it has the graphical power.Feel free to explain in detail as i'm pretty good with computers but this problem has me stumped. And for a person that will not stop until something is fixed, its driving me crazy.I'm doing this off another laptop i have that has access to the internet (obviously). So if there are any programs i need to download i have the ability to do so.
I installed windows 7 ultimate on my dell xps15, but can not connect to my wireless network and cannot connect to the internet through an Ethernet cable, i looked around in my devices and noticed these had a yellow exclamation point next to them:[CODE]ecause of this i am not able to use usb drives or connect to the internet in any way on that computer, i dont know what i need to get this fixed and since i cant connect to the internet i sadly cant just update them like i would like to
I reinstalled windows 7 64 bit on my Samsung R580 and now a lot of things aren't working. It used to have windows 7 home premium 32 bit on it from the factory. The wifi isn't connecting, the ethernet port doesn't work/ isn't connecting to internet, the hdmi output doesn't work. I used to be able to change the brightness/volume using the FN key and the arrow keys and now that doesn't work. The taskbar used to be see through and now its a solid color and I can't get it to be see through again. I think that's because something with the chipset is wrong or the driver. There used to be a power setting called Samsung optimized and now that's not there either. I don't have any of the backup file/ disks either.
i recently bought and installed windows 7 ultimate, i reformatted my PC and when i started it everything was ok, but then there was no Ethernet Controller aswell as Audio but i'am more bothered about the internet acess
I have an Asus M3A78-EM that shows a problem in Device Manager. It's listed under Other devices and says that it is an Ethernet Controller. I have no idea how to identify this device further so I can clear the asterisk.
