View 9 RepliesI'm having a problem with Windows Live Movie Maker. Before, when I used Windows Vista, I would plug in my camcorder (firewire), the import video wizard would pop up, and then I would have an option to choose between AVI and WMV. This was really really good for me, because an hour of AVI takes up 13 gigabytes, whereas an hour of WMV takes up 1 gigabyte. However, this option is no longer there with Windows Live Movie Maker, or Windows 7 in general.
It simply defaults to AVI and I then have to convert it later, thus doubling my time spend on the project. Does anyone have any idea how to re-enable WMV, or perhaps of another Windows program that would do the job? Basically, I want it to import the video directly to WMV, or any other format that doesn't take up 13 gigabytes per hour, without sacrificing quality. (WMV is great in that regard by the way. The quality is great) .
I'm getting a new PC with W/7 pro and want to import blocked senders, WAB, & iaf files into Windows Mail from my current XP pro OE.I have searched many areas for this info to no avail. I am not interested in any form of web mail, just plain pop3/smtp email that will allow me to easily import above files and allow me to send email links from browsers and email files at the folder level with a file mgr. This is the best I can do as to sys specs as I will be picking up my new PC fri 8-3-2012:
ASUS F1A55-M CSM Motherboard,
AMD A6-3650 Quad Core Processor,

View 3 Replies View RelatedA friend has a new computer with Windows 7 Home premium. There is a complete backup (the old hard drive, actually ) from his old Win XP system; We cannot seem to find a way to import his old address book and message files. I had hoper we could implement a successful import to Mozilla Thunderbird, but have no luck so far.Since the mobo of his old computer failed, the data on his hard drive is the only source of this information. I had encouraged him to use Thunderbird, If he had this problem would have been easily solved since Tbird is very transportable, but he chose to continue using OE.I tried a search for dbx and wab files. I know OE had been working on his old computer and he had an address book and message folders.

All files and folders were succesfully saved via Export Messages in Vista's Windows Mail. I also tried finding the folders manually within Windows Mail in Windows 7 thinking I could just copy and past the messages into the files but couldn't find them(thought like vista it would be in the hidden "Application Data" folder but it was not...

I copied that folder to another computer but for the life of me I can't figure out how to import these contacts into Live Mail, Windows 7. Is it just me or are you not able to import accounts into Live Mail. I have just done a fresh install for Win 7 RTM (was on RC) and I exported my mail accounts beforehand using Live Mail using the export option from the menu. However, upon reinstalling there is no import options for accounts only Messages?? Why have an export option without having an import option... Is there a way around this.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've read the excellent tutorial on getting Windows Vista Calendar into Windows 7. Only problem is that despite having eight original copies of Windows Vista, none of them at 64-bit, as is my Windows 7 install. As a Vista owner, is there a legal way to get a free copy of Vista 64-bit? Failing that, is there a safe way to get the required files?Further to the above, I notice that there is a Microsoft update that includes WinCal.exe [clicky] is there any way to extract the required files from the .MSU?

The problem I am citing today is not a new one, however, I cannot find a fix for it. Its the problem with Windows DVD maker where you set the aspect ratio to 16:9, but the result is always 4:3. Does anyone know of a fix / workaround for this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the biggest annoyances when setting up wireless networks is remembering the security key and typing it correctly so that you can connect all laptops and netbooks to it. Windows 7 makes it easy to export your wireless settings from one machine to another.
The backup of the wireless networks settings can be easily done from Windows 7, and the settings can be saved to a USB stick, and then the settings can be imported on laptops & netbooks running Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
I have a new computer (Asus K53E) with Win 7 x64 - My camera is a Canon SD 750, and I'd like to use Photo Scape to work with my pics, not the Canon browser or the Windows Photo Gallery. So I've set my photos to import via Windows in Auto Play, and to auto delete afterward. The problem I'm seeing is that once the photos are imported into my computer and deleted from the camera, the little Windows pop up box that notifies me of the deleting process stays on the screen - it will not disappear until I either use Task Manager to stop it, or I reboot the computer. I really would like to continue using the simple and effective Windows process to import my camera's pics, and to continue using Photo Scape as my photo browser/editor.
