View 2 Replies View RelatedBut my biggest obstacle is that I am just a layperson with very little knowledge of computer lingo. plain non-technical language. LOLMy HP touchsmart tm2 crashed a few weeks ago after I tried making a recovery disk using drive D on the laptop (which wasn't the smartest thing I could've done!). After a 4 hours, I got the error message that I did not have enough space. But when I tried to undo it by doing a restore point prior to the recovery disk making, it did not work and i ended up with zero memory left on my computer which led to the computer crashing. When I tried a factory reset, it did not work and i ended up with a computer that does not boot... some error i could not recall anymore.
Bottomline, I had my computer sent to a "technician" here in my city who said there was no way to boot my computer except to replace the OS.... which he did by putting a Windows 7 Ultimate operating system into my computer. It now works fine... EXCEPT for the fact that this is a pirated software. He warned me not to do updates on it as it will detect the illegal software and freeze my laptop. I cannot live with the fact that I am now using an "illegal" software when by rights, I still should be able to use the original "legal" one which came with my laptop when I purchased it.My other problem is that I did not create a recovery disk way back when i first got this laptop, so I couldn't do it from there. I have the product key to my windows 7 OS but i am not sure which version of windows 7 came with my laptop originally, i only know that my laptop has a windows 7 sticker on it plus the product key sticker in the back.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a burnt up motherboard in my laptop. My question is do I have to match the exact model to the one that is in there already inside? Or can I get one alittle cheaper? The one that is inside is around $200, and I was hoping to spend a bit less.Me and hubby can replace and change out anything on a desktop, and even build one from scratch. But laptops aren't our thing. This one is an ASUS K52F REV 2.0. Any suggestions, or do I have to match it up with what is factory?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 and find new windows open behind my current window. For example, if I am in Outlook and click 'New', the new mail window opens behind the main Outlook window. Also, I do not think the issue is specific to Outlook but I cant repeat it consistently enough with any other application to be sure.

View 9 Replies View Relatedan HP desktop E5550/4GB/1TBHDD with W7 Home Premium x64. It is pretty much overrun by rootkits, trojans and all manner of fun. Anyways, I have decided to wipe it clean. The problem is this: She lost the CDs that came with the computer. My current plan is to use a CD key-finding program, get the CD key, and use it in conjunction with a legally purchased Windows 7 Home Premium OEM DVD bought off of Newegg.com. Will this work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer that had Microsoft home Premium on it but no disks. I had to re install so I used the key that is on the sticker under the laptop but after installation I got the message that it wasn't the right key. So i followed the prompts that led me to a phone call to activate by giving a bunch of numbers that were sent to Microsoft and it still says invalid key. Their is no OEM key that I can find and I cant get recovery to come up. I have a copy of a Win 7 Home that I used to install but its not the original. Is their a way to use the original key somehow?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm new to windows 7 - which I don't like. Also don't like new laptop but I'm stuck with it till I can save for something else. I wanted to change the default font on the desktop. And after looking around found that you can change the font type by going to personalize, colors, advance. You can't change the desktop font but you can change it for different areas such as the start menu and desktop icons. So I changed the font style to Arial Black for both. But I don't like it. It's too large. But now I cannot seem to restore it back to it's original settings. Can someone tell me how to restore the settings back to default?
