When I save images they go to my download folder, after a while I then transfer and organize the picture files in my pictures folder.Sometimes though, some pictures have the same file name even though it's not the same picture. And other times there are duplicate files of the same picture. I copy and paste into the folder and usually select manually whether to move and replace, don't move and don't replace, or move and keep both files. But when it's 1000 files it can be tedious. I would like to only have one single copy of a picture.
I realize that it takes 8-10 seconds to open up a picture when i want to click on it to view it. I do not have such problem with Vista and Window XP. Is this a new problem??
I Have a Dell XPS 9100, with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. After I download a pix from my camera, then change the orienation with a counterclockwise turn, i cannot locate the pixture in the folder, it disappears. The pix seems to be there becuase the file count for the folder remains the same, but i cant see the pix anymore.
I literally have no idea how I did this, one accidental click, it said something about folders..? :S I have folders, I thought I managed to successfully get rid of this particular photo folder options but it ended up anhilating all my pictures - and somehow (yes, I see the pattern) I brought them all back, but I cannot get rid of this eye sore - the issue, ever since then, it's slown down my photo saving process, in Photofiltre, it refuses to save certain photos, it's slown down my online photo editing, and even Photoscape.
I go to my library and I see Videos, Documents & Music but NO Pictures. When I save a picture from the internet it takes me to the folder automatically, here I can see all my pictures. However when I try and find the Picture library on my laptop it cannot be found? It was there about a week ago. I performed a SYSTEM RESTORE which did not resolve the matter. I also tried "Restore default Library"
if this issue is Gimp related or not, I just noticed it a few days after installing Gimp 2.6. Their is a weird folder named "WINDOWSTEMPDIR_FONTCONFIG_CACHE" in my Pictures Library. After searching I haven't been able to determine what this folder is for or why it was created. Is it OK to delete it or should I move it, leave it alone or what?
Is it possible with Win7 to change any picture (Jpeg, png, bmp etc) into an icon file to use for a folder image?I just realised that its not an actual folder... its a shortcut which has a folder as an icon, Its actually a shortcut to a folder on another drive, but I'd still like to change it to an image I choose.
I used to have folders with a display of pictures on the front. Now I have plain folders, when opened, they have an icon to click and the a large picture shows up. I would like to open the folder and see the thumbprints immediately. Toshiba Satellite running Win 7.
You know how when you make changes inside a folder or any directory under windows 7 using explorer, updates, new files downloaded, any changes will reflect in that folder listing/view instanteously, without you having to hit the "refesh" button on the address bar to see what changes took place in that folder. My problem is with the new Fantom Drive ext USB HDD I bought. Anything I do inside that drives folder hiearchy of files. Like downloading new files from firefox, or unraring a bunch of archives; all changes will not show until I go manually hit the folder refresh button every time. Why is that not automatic? Like it is with my main internal C Drive, and my other ext usb LaCie HDD.
I'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.
After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
I use iTunes because I have an ipod touch, iTunes wants me to update it before i will sync my ipod touch. It won't update it tells me to download only the update threw the software, I've done a google search and no one that posted a fix had one that worked, i've have this issue before and i tried to uninstall and reinstall itune and nothing worked.
I bought a new computer last week & it's pre-installed with Windows 7. When I first put in my Mini TV DVB-T USB stick, Windows 7 found drivers for it and WMC recognised it and gave me instant TV to watch. However, just this last 2 days it all went sour. I still have the channels listed but on each one I get sound and just a black screen. No idea what changed, perhaps a Windows update as you get heaps of these when running a new system. Anyway I have tried running the USB drivers again and re scanning my channels but the result is still the same. It's so annoying knowing it has worked but now it won"t. Here's my system stats.
I am having problem with "my pictures". I don't think I am going crazy. There is a folder that I copied from my digital camera not showing up in "my pictures"
I absolute dont like the way Win 7 behaves, when connecting a camera.
In XP, I could choose which pictures to import, and give them names, and XP would number them for me, for instance import into C:Pictures2009, and the pictures would be named 2009 001.jpg and so on.
Now I dont understand how to do it, and if I have imported some pictures, I'm not allowed to do it again. WHAT???
Why should Windows 7 decide if I can import my pictures again, what if I delete a picture by mistake?
Is there a way to make it work like in "the good old days"?
