I must use the devcon disable command across a network. I am an administrator and I must use the devcon command to disable a device on a remote computer on the network. The disable command only works on the local machine. I was wondering if there is some sort of walk-around to this. If I totally must use a devcon disable command across a network, what would be the best way to do this? I really don't want to code this up myself. I prefer to use devcon.
i have a problem dealing with ctrl+alt+del command.the ctrl+alt+del in are system was disable, after i join my pc in the domain and reboot it, my pc prompts ctrl+alt+del to log on,how can i enable ctrl+alt+del to my system via command prompt using another pc , i use windows 7 embedded the system i use is for NVR (network video recorder)
In the past, I have had to use the built-in Administrator account to install Microsoft's virtualization software and install Windows XP Mode (I don't know why it wouldn't install before, I even disabled UAC with failed results). In order to do this, I enabled the Administrator account via Command Prompt, as recommended by a tech support specialist I used the command "net user administrator /active yes" and the Admin account was active, I installed the program, disabled the Administrator account, and went on my merry way.
It is now about a year later and after I have created a system image of my computer (I only made one because I do not have enough sufficient storage to make multiple ones, or even replace my current one) I have found out that there is an issue with command prompt or something... I unfortunately do not know. I had to reactivate the Administrator account for one reason or another and did my business, but after I reactivated it I came to find that the same command to activate the Administrator account... Changed its password. I used a Linux Live CD with Ophcrack to find out that the password for my Admin account was changed to "yes". And after I tried to disable the account, INSTEAD of it being disabled, the password was set to "no" hence "net user administrator /active no". I decided to experiment on the matter with other accounts, and typing in other words besides "yes" or "no" and I found that the net user command will change the password of any account. This is disturbing to me and also, I would like to easily enable or disable any account without changing any passwords.
How do I disable the command prompt for a standard user account on my computer? Can my geeky teenager get around Windows7 parental controls by using the command prompt from his standard account on my computer?
I copy the devcon.exe file from ...devconia64 to the diver folder
then I install my driver under administrator, but it notice me that:the image ...devcon.exe is valid, but is for a mathine type other than the current machine.
Do I use the right devcon file, if not which version should it be? And is there something else should I do ?
After a power cut, I can't connect to my router and as a result to the internet anymore. It keeps telling me the network is unidentified. I downloaded my motherboard's network driver (Asus M3N78-VM), installed it, then through Upgrade I selected the driver from NVidia as opposed to Microsoft. Did not work.
I then tried to Uninstall network drivers, or Disabling them. When doing that, my PC is in an infinite loop to uninstall the driver, or to disable it. Also changing IP setting manually and pressing Close in the Local Area Network window _sometimes_ makes my PC go stuck as well (often after disabling IPv6).
I do not have the Bonjour service running (says the Bonjour removal tool), I do have Adobe PS2 for some time and Adobe Reader.
It's hopeless, I can't think of what is wrong or how to remove the network driver properly. I'm up to a point to reinstall the OS, but that involves a lot of work, so if it can be done without it would be great.
I am looking for ways how to disable the internet connection without interfering the LAN/Network. So i found the solution by putting the wrong default gateway and DNS. But when you check on the automatic obtain IP address and DNS, internet can be accessed again. And when i used and administrator to limit the user's privilege, there are certain programs that are disabled. how can i totally remove internet access?
My netbook is running Windows 7 Starter. It is an MSi U135. At random intervals (can be every few minutes to every couple of hours) my connection will show a 'limited connection' and I have to manually disable then enable the network adapter. As soon as I have re-enabled it again the internet will connect. Sometimes it will force me to restart the netbook for it to connect again.
I have tried the following: - Disabled firewall. - Uninstalled antivirus. - Reinstalled the network adapter. - Completely removed the adapter driver from the system, then downloading one from the Msi website and installing the new driver. - Changed the router channels to a few different channels. - Made sure the box which says something like 'allow this device to turn off to save power' is unchecked.
I have tried the ipconfig /renew in CMD as an admin. Also tried the ROUTE 0.0.0.0 command (read somewhere this could fix it). I ensured I didn't have 'bonjour' on the system as I have read this can cause it too. I even tried reinstalling the OS too. None of the other netbooks in the house does this. (One running Windows 7 Starter and one on XP)
The wireless is one I share with my roommates and is fast. The wired NIC connects to a router which has slower internet. The reason I connect to the wired router is so my PC can talk to a linux machine, which I use for some data downloading/analysis.I want to disable internet from the wired connection but keep the ability to talk to other machines on the wired network. I just changed the IPv4 settings and deleted the DNS server information. Is this the best way to do so? I want the wireless to provide internet.
whenever i start up my computer, windows seems to disable both my sound and network drivers, so everytime i start my computer i have to go into device manager and disable, then enable my network controller (for the internet) and my creative soundblaster card so they start working again. This is very annoying, also the time it takes for my computer to load is ridiculous, what could be wrong, do i have a virus?
When I log off or turn off my pc and then log on or turn the pc on, internet is not working. I need to open Network and Sharing Center, go to my Local Area Connection, disable then enable it and then all works. How to fix?

In UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .
In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,
Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .
Does any one know how to get the win.ini missing fixed when opening bootcfg/msconfig not found. Also How to change "forcing changes in msconifg" to "not forcing changes" in msconfig from command prompt, as well as opening msconfig from command prompt w/ dos command(s) / paramteters.
I am trying to create some batch files to connect to network drives. I am not understanding something.ode: net use x: \myserverc$documents /USER:mydomainlogin_name the /USER:mydomain, what do you enter in the mydomain location of you are not part of a domain?
Ok So I got myself into a unique bind here. I was trying to install some custom system files (for a theme) and I did it wrong and now I cant open explorer.exe . I dont want to goto a backup because this is a easy fix. (in my view). So I need to know how to run command prompt with administrative privleges from command prompt.
I am trying to do this command: copy explorer.exe C:Windows
So if there is also another command I can just tack onto that that gives me admin rights to do it. I would be happy.
I was just wondering id it was a good idea to have an extensive knowledge on the windows command prompt and how to use it. If so can anyone share some links to where I could see some tutorials?
When I type into the command prompt the following: DIR "C:UsersRoyMy Documents" I do not get a listing of the My Documents directories and files. Instead the message displayed is "File not found".
I've got a fairly recent Win7 x64 install on my system. Since Beta, I've been getting an error message "Not enough storage is available to process this command", which is accompanied by a stop code 0xc142 when launching items like Task Manager. I've seen the first error is typically related to the Windows Desktop Heap, but I've set from the original (2GB if I'm reading it correctly), to 4GB of space. I'm running a system with 1.7TB of available drive space (20GB on the OS drive as it's a smaller SSD drive) and 6GB of RAM. I've tried varying the windows page file from 500MB to the system-controlled 6GB with the same result.
