Win7 On HP Pavilion Dv9500t
It seems that HP, in their dubious wisdom, has decided not to provide driver support for the entire dv9xxx series of portables. The PC seems extremely capable so I'd like to keep it and upgrade to Windows 7. Has anyone got this combination working? If so, can you provide a source for the drivers?

Installing Win7 On HP Pavilion Dv6700
I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. Im planning to install Windows 7. I am a member of the IEEE Computer Society, and have an account in IEEE and the Computer Society which is a MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center. I downloaded Windows 7 Professional (x86). Then unzip the file and run the setup, but i could only get to the Upgrade or Custom page of the installation. Tried to do both and just get a message box that says that the installation couldn't be done, and that I should check the Set Association in Control Panel, so I think there is a file that doesn't know what program use to open it. I searched in the Internet and found an article telling that in order to upgrade Vista to 7 I should have the SP2 installed, so I downloaded the SP2 for Vista and installed it. Then I tried again to install Win 7, but it just do the same thing as before. I burned the setup files to a DVD. I run it when turning on the laptop to boot from the DVD. On the screen appears some information about the laptop, then stay still on "A:". And I get stuck there as I don't know what commands I should use to begin the installation. I've got some questions about it. Does the version of Vista have something to do with it? Can I only install a specific edition of 7 on my laptop, or I can install any edition on it? Does the 'burn to DVD' have a specific burning settings, like set from the DVD burner program to be a boot disc? How should the boot installation must be? Is there any command I should put? System Information about my laptop: -Windows Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 2 -Hewlett-Packard -Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC (it appears in HP webpage as dv6926nr) -Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz -RAM: 3.00 GB -System type: 32-bit Operating System

Install Win7 On HP Pavilion S7713W
Ok here is my problem. I have a HP S7713W and I current;y run XP Pro. I bought the Upgrade disk for Windows 7 Pro. The install runs perfectly until I reach the point where I should enter product key info. The screen goes black. No cursor, nothing. I restart, see the windows logo, and again blank screen. I went back to XP and updated the BIOS. No luck. It will not start in safe mode, I get the message that windows needs to finish installing first. The system runs Nvidia which is directly on the motherboard, not a seperate graphic card so the monitor plugs directly into the motherboard.

Upgrade On HP Pavilion Dv6810us
I have a HP Pavilion laptop (dv6810us). It's about 1.5 years old, so it came w/Vista. I currently have it dual booted w/7 Premium, and everything works fine except for the display. In the Vista boot, i get 1280x1024, very clear. When i boot into 7, it says it displaying the same resolution, but it looks horribly fuzzy, and the icons are larger. I've tried all display/control panel options thus far, and i've ensured that i have all settings to their highest level. I've searched HP's website for compatible 7 display drivers, but nothing has been released. Is it that my laptop simply cannot handle 7?

Upgrade On HP Pavilion DV4 1435dx
I have HP Pavilion DV4 1435dx running Vista(x64), I recieved my Upgrade Kit today and I'm having trouble getting it to start up. I insert the disk into my optical drive as directed by the instructions that came with it. Now when I insert the disk nothing happens, no Auto Play option comes up nothing, when I try to do it manually it says insert CD. So it got me thinking maybe something is wrong with my optical drive, so I insert a DVD movie and all works fine I also try and Audio CD and everything is good as well. Now I tried calling Tech Support and the Upgrade Kit distributor and nothing worked. I'm wondering how can I fix this and has anyone experienced this with their Upgrade Kit? Also if I can't use the Upgrade Kit, will I be able to just download Windows 7 and use the Product Key that came with my Upgrade Kit?

Upgrade On HP Pavilion Dv4 1225dx
I have just purchased an HP Pavilion dv4-1225dx laptop, and this is the one time I like the software that has come pre-installed (HP Mediasmart software) And so, by doing a clean install, ill lose the webcam software (mediasmart component) and the other stuff I have on there (Installing WoW again and downloading updates..not doing it again). I tried the upgrade feature and it hung at 18% for a while and I gave up on it (Second line on the install screen, I forget what it says it is) So I was wondering if it is normal for it to han ga little while doing an upgrade from an OEM version of Vista or just upgradeing in general..?

Upgrade Failed On HP Pavilion Elite M9650f
I tried the upgrade 2 times and it failed both times with a blue screen crash in the last upgrade phase. Not sure of the error because it was so quick. This particular computer line has been having problems with a single crash or hang when you first start the computer, but no more problems that day. I think I have to change memory and will try the Windows 7 upgrade when I do.Wonderfull rolleback with no problems.Where do I look to find out what the install was doing when it crashed?

Win7 X64 HP Pavilion DV6-1140ez Hardware Not Recognized
I'm trying to fix the last hardware problems I find with Windows 7 x64 RC1 version after battling for some of the hardware (touchpad Synaptics detected but not completely functional - had to install Synaptics official Vista 64 complete driver to make it work with vertical scroll ....)Â on my HP Pavilion I just bought one month ago. I find this hardware not wanting to be installed in unspecified section of Devices : - A309 that I presume to be the DVB T Tuner but even with official driver no luck. - 3 Base System Devices located on PCI bus 6, device 0, function 1, 3 and 4. I presume them to be related to motherboard components such as SMB, and bus stuff ... - SD Host Controller that I can't figure out why it seems to appear in unspecified. Though I didn't try to use it .... so not sure it's not functional.

Win7 (32bit) To Win7 (64bit) Upgrade Install Error
I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version) I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB) Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only". I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over. I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.

Upgrade Path Problem - Win 7 RC To Vista To Win7 Upgrade
I installed Win 7 RC on a new build and purchased Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM with upgrade to Win 7 Home premium. The Win 7 upgrade disc has arrived. I understand that Vista must be installed and activated for the upgrade to work. Attempts to install Vista with Win 7 RC running or booting from the Vista disc lead to error code 0x80070103, insufficient free space. My HDD has > 450 Gb free space in 2 partitions. Do I need to reformat the HDD in order to install Vista over Win 7?

Can I Upgrade Xp To Win7 ?
I have looked and looked but haven't been able to get a clear answer. First, can I upgrade my XP to RC without loosing all my programs and data? If I can, will I be able to upgrade RC to the released Win 7 without doing a 'clean unstall'? I have a 3.1 dual core processor with 3 gis of ram and a terabyte of hd space. I have a beta version on a second partition but RC won't let upgrade that.

XP Upgrade To WIn7 Upgrade
I currently have Windows XP Upgrade (upgrade from 98). Will the Windows 7 upgrade path work for me? I realize that it would be a clean install and I have no problem with that, but the fact that this is an upgrade version from 98 and then upgraded again to 7 doesn't sound efficient...

Upgrade Path To Win7
Upgrade Path to Win 7 Ultimate from HP's free upgrade to Win 7. I purchased two computers from HP about a month ago. They both had Vista Home Premium installed on them with the promise to a free upgrade to Win 7 on 10/22. I presume the upgrade is to Win 7 Home Premium. I was wondering if there is an upgrade path for HP customers to Win 7 ultimate, obviously knowing full well there would be some money involved.

Cannot Upgrade From Vista To Win7
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1. I downloaded the ISO of Windows 7 RC 1 and used Nero 9 to burn a DVD. Using both the DVD to perform and upgrade and copying the contents of the DVD to a separate hard drive and performing an upgrade from there, I get the following error:"Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8000FFFF" I'm pretty sure both the DVD and the hard drive sources are clean and free of physical errors Any thoughts?

32 Bit Upgrade To Win7 64?
1st. Can I upgrade (clean install) from either XP or Vista 32 bit system to Windows 7 64? 2nd. If the answer to 1st is yes... If the Win 7 64 bit gives too much trouble, will I be able to reinstall and go with Win 7 32 bit. I believe the future is going to be 64 but I've never used the 64 bit and really don't know what to expect or how smooth the transition will be. Any thoughts or advice???

In-Place Upgrade To Win7
I want to upgrade from Vista Home Basic 32bit to the Windows 7 32bit. I ran the advisor and it said to uninstall the ATI Radeon X1200 driver, and Catalyst Control Center, then reinstall. Question: If I uninstall from the device manager, will it still be present with the option to reinstall after the upgrade? The CCC wasn't a driver, I believe it's a program in the Control Panel listed as the ATI Catalyst Install Manager. How would I get that back?

How To Upgrade To Win7 With Corrupted XP?
I have an old XP pro CD that I gave to my boyfriend for his new computer. I tried to install it, and I don't know what happened, it was bad - I guess over the years the CD got corrupted. The serial number of course is good but there's no COA because back when I bought it they weren't doing that yet. So I installed windows 7 RC 1 on his new computer. I don't want to talk him into buying the windows 7 upgrade if he can't upgrade. I read somewhere that windows xp has to be installed on the HD in order to do the upgrade, but at the same time you can do a clean install. What? So how am I going to get this upgrade? Do I have to get Microsoft to send me a new CD? Because that's not bloody likely, is it? I was thinking all I'd have to do would be to input the old XP serial number.
