I have a Sony VAIO with the code SVT13114GXS. My webcam was working fine, until I tried to update it from Arcsoft Webcam Companion 3 to Arcsoft Webcam Companion 4. Now, whenever I try to open it, there's a message saying: "Webcam not found. The webcam is either being used by another application or is not connected. Please click Connect button and try again."

When I click on it it says "Application failed to initialize check camera device and restart computer" I tried downloading a new update from Toshiba but the application never installed. I have a Toshiba Satellite L655-S5150 Windows 7, Laptop that is only 15 months old (thankfully I have the extended warranty, but who wants do a re-install?Previously, I installed the Kingsoft Antivirus and had it for a while with no problems, but I see this antivirus update has many new features and one of them is blocking my Webcam. I have since then unchecked the "block this program" for my webcam, but am still having non access to my webcam I can't use Skype or You-tube. What can I do to get my Web Cam up and running. After I unchecked the "block" box I was able to access my web cam for a short while, then once I rebooted no more webcam.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOur office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application.If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.
The error states:explorer.exe - application error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.When I click OK, i just have a black screen. I can get the task manager going by hitting control, alt, delete. I've tried to start explorer.exe from the file menu, but get the same error.

I am deathly afraid to turn off my computer because my brother recently did and that caused it to freeze at the blue HP startup screen, but thats another thread. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. I've also done a system restore from before the incident and that hasn't helped. The wireless works fine with my phone, other computers, installed Ubuntu on my comp, etc. The only place it seems to not be working is in my windows. I'be checked out a few videos and can't seem to find the exact solution. I'm thinking it may be a virus, but the avast antivirus "quick check" didn't find anything of that sort. In the device manager under Network Adapters, there are two links that each have a yellow 'i' symbol. When I troubleshoot with windows it says there are no issues. When I go to 'Change adapter settings' there are no adapters available such as the LAN, etc.
