Switch Between Access Points?
Aug 30, 2012At my school we have a lot of access points, but sometimes the computer use the wrong access point. How can I solve that? Is there a program for switching access point?

Netbook Doesn't Detect Wifi Access Points
Jun 26, 2011I wanted to ask about the wifi problem on my netbook (zyrex bee 106p) made in Indonesia country. I did install the recommended way, and I have internet connection at home with the wifi network.
But when I try to connect to the internet, I do not even find the access point. And with another computer I can find the access point.
How strange, after I checked, the existing drivers already installed and I have downloaded from the official site still could not connect. Then my whim, I tried using the ubuntu live cd.
And it turns out the wifi connection can be used normally! then, where is the problem?
Administraor Access Denied Lost All Restore Points Message Says No Restore Point?
Apr 28, 2012I wouldn't go so far to say, I'm totally computer illiterate, but not far from it.. If there's anyone out there, who's up for a challenge I'm running windows 7. I am the administrator. Someone I don't trust at all, used my PC a while back. After he (did whatever he did) I noticed I couldn't access several files. I get a "access denied" or you don't have permission to view this file, owner info etc.. I can see a lot of the files, but their either empty now or I can't view them. I have used restore many times in the past, but now I get a message " no restore points".. I don't know what he did, or if he did anything.. It could be one of my kids changed properties by mistake, before I wised up and created a basic user acct w/ limited access for them.. I almost forgot. When I go into file properties there is a red x by my user name (administrator) Not in every property, but several.. Sometimes there is a red x by other user names, as well, but mostly mine.

Aug 10, 2011Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

Oct 19, 2011I use windows 7.When I turn on laptop (acer Aspire 5742) cannot connect to internet until I switch user and log in again. Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.

Nov 12, 2011after going through a lot of stress today to fix a certain problem (irrelevant tho') and installed & uninstalled a lot of stuff, I wanted to recover the system to atleast yesterday. But the latest restoration point is today around 7h ago.Is there no way at all to restore the system to yesterday or any day ago? The "error" accured when I shut down my computer yesterday and Windows automatically updatedToday I started the PC and yeah..If there is no other possible way to restore I will explain the problem.

I can never see more than one available restore point even after ticking the "Show more restore points".

To create system restore point open System Protection.I have checked that system protection is turned on and the option selected is "Restore system settings and previous versions of files".I have also set the maximum Usage to 30GB. I have tried to create a couple of restore point and it goes through the motions OK but on checking find that none have been created!I have AVG 2012 fully updated and have run a full scan also have the latest Malwarebytes installed and ran a scan with that.

A few week ago when I was having problems there were no restore points either and I discovered the upgrade install method, and got going again. Having recently been helped with PC crashing several times a day (by uninstalling catalyst Control Centre), I seem to be up and running normally again, but there are no rstore points. I asked about this serveal months back and I seem to remember that there is no automatic creation of restore points (ideally twice a week would be good). I followed instructions to set this up, but still they weren';t there when I needed them.

Nov 25, 2012I am using a Lenovo Y450 Ideapad. When I turned on my laptop one morning, windows 7 refused to start up. After starting off with the initial Lenovo start up screen, a second screen of 'Loading Files' appears. It then goes into Startup Repair. After attempting to repair, a message appears stating that Startup cannot repair this computer automatically. It cannot repair and the only solution is to restart the system and the same cycle repeats. I have read some comments about using F8 and F2 but there are also no restore points (which is surprising) or any image points. I have important data and I usually back it up but havent done so in the last couple of weeks due to work. I am hoping that I can at least get the data out. Also, I do have a Windows 7 CD.

Dec 14, 2011I own a 4GB Thinkpad SL510 laptop, running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit w SP1 installed.Lately, I have noticed that my System Restore points disappear. When I open SR and look for restore points, none are there.To test this,I create one and it creates successfully. I go back and check after a while....and it's GONE. There is no apparent pattern of WHEN they disappear. Sometimes they go after a re-boot, sometimes they stay around for a day or so, then disappear. Sometimes they go away while the computer is still on.I would guess that this started about 1 week ago...at least that's when I first noticed it.There is a common error in the event log which I attached here. This seems to coincide with the time I no longer have restore points.The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because of an IO failure on volume C:.I increased the amount of space for system restore to 40GB (which should be more than enough...this is 20% of my C Drive. I used to have this at 10% with no problems in the past.I've scanned for viruses and nothing comes up.I also ran CHKDSK C: /f /r and I found 4kb with bad sectors but no other areas.

2 weeks ago I successfully did a system restore, and I have not changed any settings since then. My recovery partition is still in place, the disk manager says the recovery drive has 8 GB out of 15 GB free. Could the restore point be in my recovery partition, but for some reason Windows isn't seeing it? How would I view the recovery partition to check?

Windows is installed on C: and I have the registry set to default to D: but regardless, many programs either install directly to C: or after installing to D:, still use a good bit of space on C:. C: is around 87% filled to capacity whereas I have ample space left on D:. I don't have enough restore points and would like to have the restore info stored on D: where I have ample space.

The performance trouble shooter won't work and I am trying to do a scan with Microsoft Security Essentials but it is just creeping along. I have created restore points manually and I have seen the occasional restore point created from system updates. I will then check back after about an hour or so and the restore point is no longer there! I found that my volume shadow copy service was stopped - I restarted it and set it to auto start. I have system protection set to restore system settings and previous versions of files and have 1.46GB set aside for restore points. I have had it set as high as 2.93GB. I have my laptop set to go to sleep when I close the lid, so I'm wondering if that may be an issue.
