my Windows 7 Ultimate started bugging out of me a couple days ago. Problem first started right after an windows update I believe, and originally presented as no desktop loading after log on, only a black screen with a cursor. Restored, ran chkdsk and repair and they problem disappeared but now these unexpected crashes keep popping up. Have never actually seen the BSOD yet, computer is always rebooted when I come back to it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a relatively new custom PC (around 3 months old) and I have problems with it. It was put together by the same shop that sold the parts. It recently started to crash constantly at seemingly random times. Sometimes it would run fine for 5 days without any issues, at other times it would crash once every day for a few days. Even the cause isn't always the same. It would either give me a BSoD or simply shut down without any message and restart itself.

i've somewhat recently built myself a new gaming rig due to my old system being horribly outdated and unreliable and from day one of using the new computer i've had some problems with crashing.basically, the computer crashes at least once per day and is seemingly undetectable as to when this happens, the only thing intensifying the crashing seems to be streaming videos online, ie. Internet, facebook, dailymotion videos etc.a friend of mine had compiled the list of parts that i would use to build the computer, and also did the majority of assembling (which i cannot notice any problems with by looking at the inside of the tower). this same friend, after hearing about constant crashing problems and unreliability as to when it would crash had suggested a problem with the system's memory, but after swapping out hdd's and even installing an ssd? here is a list of my system specs.

I reformatted my computer a couple weeks ago in order to install my new 40GB SSD drive and ever since, my computer has been randomly crashing. It has never happened when I was actually using it, but it has happened a couple times when I'm sitting next to it. It seems to just shut off and come back on. When it turns back on, I get this dialog...

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am getting really tired of my computer crashing constantly. The main concerns are: ntoskrnl.exe, atikmdag.sys and dxgmms1.sys. I have fresh installed four times, updated all of my drivers and DirectX, too. Nothing helped. I have send my PC back to it's manufacturer 2 times, and they said it was fine. I have also run Windows Memory Diagnostics without any errors. It happens randomly, even though what I am doing on my computer (work, games, surfing the interwebs etc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and I've been having some problems with explorer crashing. I've searched all over the net including various forums and while I've found cases similar to mine none of them are quite like it. For instance, explorer will crash and ask for me to restart it randomly. It's not the right-click crash like some have had, I've checked my registry for a machine throttling string that caused some people crashes, but mine will just happen out of the blue, usually (but not always) when I have an explorer window open. The crash itself doesn't effect much. All my programs will continue to run as normal so it's not a huge deal, it's just annoying as it will happen sporadically throughout the day. I've ran various spyware, malware, and virus scans all to no avail and I've even used a registry cleaner. I've also tried running sfc /scannow in the command prompt as an administrator. I've rebooted several times since and it still happens. I can't reproduce it, it just happens out of nowhere, but here's the error.

a few weeks ago my computer starting experiencing a few crashes. these initially only took place when playing a computer game such as world of warcraft. the crashes intially caused the monitor to go black losing connection, however the sound loops for about 10 - 15 seconds before finally stopping.
however in the last few weeks, the problem seems to have grown since it is crashing simply when the browser is open on such sites as Internet. the time between the crashes has also become more frequent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my pc, randomly 15-30minutes after logging on, all of the programs running will freeze with "Not Responding" on their title bar for a few minutes. After a few minutes the programs will unfreeze, and more problems arise. These problems include, some of the open programs working, some partially working , and some not working at all. When I try to to ctrl alt delete to close the frozen programs, an error message will pop-up Cannot find explorer.exe. Also when I open the start menu it is completely blank, doesn't show anything. Also, some of my desktop icons disappear, while some others stay. In general, the computer gets really buggy, and I cant do much.I have been having these issues for roughly a week. I formatted on Mon, Aug 27, and the issues still arise since the format, so it appears the issues is more likely hardware related.Since I formatted, I have chkdisk /f /r, and sfc /scannow, but the issues still arise.About a week ago I was trying to clean my case, get rid of dust, etc, but before I did it, my case fell roughly 6 inches to the ground, thinking this issue could be hardware, most likely a bad HDD related.

computer spec, win 7 64 (fully updated). all drivers are updated, and bios is upto date asus p6t delux v2, i7 940, 12gb ram ocz 1000w power supply (bought 6 months ago) main drive- kingston ssd vnow series 128gb , could it be this?
recently we had a builder round, and the electricity tripped while my computer was on since then my computer constantly freezes randomly no given time really (could be guessing at this time really as updates have occured as well recently)
An example is i could be browsing the web on a variety of browsers or just using the computer in general, the computer will lock up sometimes allowing me to move the mouse but not being able to do anything, and sometimes not being able to move the mouse,it will then un freeze about 2-3 minutes later?
and when it frezes i could press ctrl alt & del, then the task manager will pop up when the computer has resumed it selfi recently ran memtest on all the ram after around 50 hours of testing there was an error on one piece, another thing it could be possibly one of the updates i have run for drivers bios etc, but id be clutching at straws trying to find out
i have norton 360 and malwarebytes on, both find NO Viruses, so i retested one at a time in the same dimm slot, no problems? i then tested in pairs still no problems? i then retested all and this time i had no problems? strange? but only retested for 30 hours at the bottom of the memtest screen, it said pass complete no errors,
My computer has been randomly crashing after it goes to sleep. After trying to find answers by searching, it seems like it may have to do with a driver, but I can't understand the dmp files. I also cannot open the xml file. Attached is the message I get when I start the computer again. I tried to attach the dmp and xml files, but it says I do not have permission when I click "open" to upload them. I am running Windows 7 x64.

This computer is 4-5 years old. Originally had Vista installed. Did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro x64when I bought the SSD drive.
In the last several months I have been upgrading it:
Installed 8 GB of 800MHz RAM - 4 months ago Installed a Crucial M4 SSD drive - 2 months ago Throughly cleaned all fans and the computer - 1 month ago Replaced Power supply that had failed - 2 weeks ago
This has been driving me crazy for quite a while. Before I replace the motherboard and cpu I wanted to see if someone could decipher the log files for me.
I have played with the BIOS settigs quite a bit. It may be time for me to return to default values..
So I recently purchased a new ASUS laptop, and everything has been fine except for windows 7. In particular, 32 bit programs will inexplicably crash at random times, and when they do, they often all crash at the same time. For example, Steam, windows media player, uTorrent, and Firefox all crashed at the exact same time a few days ago, and several other simultaneous crashes have happened since. IE8, which has to run in 32bit mode for college related applications, crashes frequently as well, and has nearly compromised my work on several occasions.
I've tried recreating it, but I can't. The only thing they have in common is that they are all 32 bit programs, even things widows photo gallery(which is 32bit) crash randomly.
I purchased a new computer with 64bit machine and windows 7, was very excited to get it. Now that excitement has turn to dispear. The system keeps crashing, for no good reason that I can see. I have limited experience with Windows, but have looked at the event viewer.I searched other sites for solutions, but not getting anywhere.I have the following ID crit and errors: 41, 6008 & 10010.At first I tried fixing the paging requirement, as the paging was set lower than the actual amount of RAM. I fixed that and that has not helped.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately sometimes it does not actually BSOD so no dump is recorded, however by luck i saved one to documents a few days ago and i put that in a folder entitled "olddump". After interrogating that one and the two that followed (unfortunately those ones are lost) i believe the error has something to do with ntoskrnl.exe something about symbols not found,I first started getting errors whilst playing battlefield 3, i can usually play bf3 reasonably with no lag, get the odd crash but these ones were different and ended up in a restart or bsod, the problem is and why i am so sketchy is the errors occurred extremely randomly, and sometimes after extended periods of gametime.It wasnt too much of an issue and i didnt give it much thought until i tried to play the guild wars 2 beta weekend, then i was hit with almost constant BSOD 1 or 2 minutes into getting in, this one was alot easier to pinpoint and after a few restarts i worked out it was FRAPS that was causing the problems, i disabled and it worked fine.In between this i was playing Age of Empires 3 on-line with no problems at all.When the BWE3 finished i gave my computer a spring clean, clearing out all dust, getting rid of all the "crap" i didnt need, removed all my old fraps videos and gave it a defrag, disk cleanup, full virus scan, i defiantly noticed the difference.I began playing Empire Total War and i received a number of BSOD, also some crashes which froze my computer and what i can only describe as gave a "blind" effect on the screen, the sound turned into a "hum"?I had a previous problem like this with my RAM so i did a memtest, it detected no errors at all. I have 1 stick of DDR3 RAM 4GB which i am unable to change at present.Last night i did every scan i possibly could, i ran a chkdsk, defrag, sfc scan, full virus scan, registry clean.. yet when i get back into Empire Total War this afternoon exactly the same thing although this time it just shut down.I have been monitoring temperatures at idle for the past week now and the temps rarely go above 42 idle and are quite consistent (GPU stays under 40), as i say fans are cleared of dust and can confirm they are all spinning.I think it is graphical related simply because it only happens when i play video games although the "ntoskrnl.exe" i got from the dump file makes me think it may be some NT coding, i am really not sure?Over the period of the errors i have done the following;
- updated my graphic card to the latest drivers
- carried out various scans/cleanups
- searched google to try and find what is wrong with limited success
- i have even tried gently shaking my desk incase something was loose or faulty
- removed/put back different USB (printer etc.) to see if that made a difference
I did notice whilst playing movies from DVD, it would freeze at specific points, no big deal but it froze my whole computer for a good 5 minutes when i tried to move on, maybe related maybe not.Things i am unable to do
- Buy/change hardware , unfortunately this is not possible at present although i am looking at purchasing more RAM.
Things i am unwilling to do
- Windows reinstall, i really would like to keep this as a last last resort, simply because the amount i would have to backup, i really dont have the time or patience although if it is the only option then i will obviously consider it.
Things i am going to try
- another ckhdsk, i did one but not sure i did it correctly, i tried to do one while posting this but had to exit it due to lagging my pc
- paying different games to really isolate the issue
- get another BSOD so i can grab the newest minidump

It has happened now over 2 times in 3 months. Not so much but it's still quite annoying.. I couldn't read the whole report of the blue screen screen but it said something about memory clash or something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedStarting earlier today, my internet randomly stopped working on my main PC, though I could still connect and it would work fine on my laptop/phone/tablet/etc. I ran a full McAfee scan which found nothing, and after a couple restarts and unplugging my modem/router, it happened again now. When I try to shut my PC down, it goes to the normal vista "Shutting down" screen, stays there for about 5 or so minutes, and then I get a BSOD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo about a week ago, I was just playing a flash game when my screen appeared to freeze, upon unfreezing Windows Aero stopped working(the transparency on the task bar disappeared). There was no error, it just stopped working. After looking around my computer it told me that Aero wasn't supported, which did not make sense considering it was just supported. So I did a system restore(it was made after a windows update) and it started working again. It worked fine for a few days and just today it did the exact same thing. Of course, I resolved this issue with a system restore as previously, but I would like to find out what the problem is exactly to fix it, since my current solution is just going to be an annoyance.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy pc has been acting weird lately, it has began randomly crashing frequently. I turn it on and after 3 or so minutes of random activity it just freezes or gives me a blue screen error. Sometimes while playing BF3, it freezes.[CODE]
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the PC is on it will depending on how long its been on will randomy just shut off. When it shuts off, it "sometimes" reboots but most often it "tries" to reboot but fails and then stays off. After this failed try to reboot if I press the power button on the case and mobo, nothing. Now if I turn OFF the PSU leave it for a few minutes and come back turn the PSU switch on and press the power button the system comes to life for a second or two then dies and will no respond to the power buttons until I turn off the PSU again.I have gotten it up and running from this state by leaving it off and unplugged for a couple of hours. When I say the PC comes to life for a second or two, I mean the case fans. If I get it booted up the BIOS is reset to default for some reason. Also if it makes it to windows, the notification area icons also gets reset... very very odd.I have a short video of the problem, sorry for the darkness, I finally decided to video it and it was 11pm.PSU dying or Mobo. I dont have extra's so I cant test them.Forgot to mention, ive checked for heat problems but none of my temps are high, they are all normal and its a Antec 1200 with tons of air movement.Event Viewer shows nothing expect for unexpected shutdown. My event viewer is clean from any errors also. I do not get any BSOD and this is on a fresh Windows 7 install from late Jan.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been getting BSOD's with the POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA reason and once or twiceMEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I ran memtest86+ and no errors were reported. BlueScreenView shows that it's ntoskrnl.exe causing the crashes. The crashes recently have been happening quicker (1-2 hours) with uTorrent running, and if I load uTorrent after the crash reboot, it crashes almost immediately. In the past, it would crash every couple of days right after clicking on a button in any program.
