Downloaded the RC from microsoft yesterday, installed it on my computer fine, but when i went to activate it, i got the 80072efd error. I tried many of the online things, nothing has seemed to help.
i downloaded windows 7 rc from microsoft yesterday and installed it on my computer as an upgrade to vista.
everything worked fine, until i tried to activate that thing, it gave me the error 80072efd, i tried many of the online things to try and fix it and yet it still gives me the error, only when i try to activate and when i try to do windows update. My key is legit, straight from microsoft.
basically trying to update and get this code. Second after finding out about this code, I get very bad noise when watching video on the internet. It's like when the video freezes and you get this big lag noise. Hard to describe but I get blue screen sometimes also.

When activating the open lic product I get an Error Code of 0x8007232B which translates to "DNS Name does not exist". I am installing from the image downloaded from the Microsoft License site. Install went fine. Just having a problem with the Activation.
I paid £30 for the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade as I'm a student. Yesterday I bought a new 500GB HDD and some more RAM to use for Windows 7. I downloaded the files from the link provided in the e-mail I got, and extracted. I was then given a strange error message, which upon Googling turned out to be because I was running XP 32bit whilst trying to install a 64bit O/S. One of the workarounds was to burn the setup to a disc using OSCDIMG and Nero, and install from boot.
I got my Windows 7 Home premium about 18 months ago and have never had a need to use DVD maker. So when someone told me I could use it to make menu's on my home movies I wanted to try it.So I got to "Programs and Features" to activate DVD maker but it won't work.It gives an error "Unable to install some features"Can I download it ? On the Microsoft website I see only a developers kit for Vista.
Recently I've been prompted by my computer to validate my windows 7 as it may not be genuine etc. Although when I go to either activate online or re-type in my key, I receive the error 'code 0x80072f8f' and it closes.I've researched the topic before posting this, and ran the diagnostic tool and got the following results,
I have done a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 on and Acer Aspire 5738G Laptop that I originally purchased Brand new from a large trusted company.
I am having trouble activating "error code 0xC004E003"
I got that error using a product key a programme retrieved for me before I done the clean reinstall. I did not know about the product key sticker on the bottom of my laptop at that time.
The key on the sticker won't even type all the way so I can't even test that key, I had the same problem and with that key on the last install and was told i had the wrong ISO now this ISO is no different. This laptop has been in for hard drive repair with new image, now I don't know what key the they used to activate. I would assume the same one(hopefully) I had BSOD problems and thats why I have done a clean install which has fixed all the problems I had previously.
what can I possibly do to activate asap I only have three days to fix this? Code: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):
I'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
seeing as it had infected my services.exe, part of the fix was to get a new copy of it, or something around those lines; this will come in to play later, I think. Anyway, its been a LONG time, my last update whenever I try running windows update, it runs for a bit and tries to receive the updates, but then stops and displays a message saying it failed to update, and gives me the error code of 80246008. I've looked this up, and I see that it possibly has something to do with the background intelligent transfer service.
I have a Toshiba Satelite with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and I'm getting an update error of 8024402F. These are the following steps I took to solve the problem with no success.
1) I disabled the AVG antivirus program. 2) I turned off the microsoft firewall. 3) I found a list of services to reregister. 4) I turned off the services and renamed two folders in the system32 folder. 5) I've also tried the all the fixes associated from the Microsoft website.
I own a W7 home premiun Pc.For the past 3 weeks i have been trying to update windows. Each time i try, i get the word "FAILED" code 8024200D comes up.I tried getting in touch with windows with no luck.I followed their "FIx it"Repair soft ware again with no luck.I spent hours on my Pc following do's and dont's. Until a few weeks ago I was running the following computer and I use it just for gaming, I changed the Motherboard to an Asus P8Z68 and used a different i5 2500k-everything else remained the same. I erased the SSD and did a clean install of Win 7. Loaded the mother board drivers, video drivers and intel rapid storage. The system boots up and appears to be working great. If I try and use windows update I get the error code 0xc80003fa. I have googled the error code and done everything that has been suggested to fix the issue and still nothing. I have done another clean install and get exactly the same result.
the error 800B0100 (when attemted MS updates)Tnds me to download the System Update Readiness tool (KB947821) - but this does not help at all. This doesn't even appear that it can be run?I have only (2 days) ago installed the o/s (Win 7 ultimate 64bit) and already there are problems? You wouldn't mind so much, but the MS 'he all.I've searched the net, and seen all manner of 'fixes' for this
I'm using Windows 7 RC. I did not upgrade it was a clean install.
Whenever I try to update my computer via Windows Update, it gives me the error code in the title of this thread. This happened *before* I even installed anti-virus, and after as well.
My internet connection is working flawlessly via cable, not wireless. I've tried about 5 or 6 times over a period of 6 or 7 hours.
I noticed one of today's updates seems to be messing up my volume icon. After installing all updates, if I right click the volume icon nothing happens. I did some testing and it is an update, but I'm not sure which one it is.
Windows Update is failing for some reason (I was successfully able to install 2 updates, but all of the others fail)
I am getting an "unknown error" 80070308, and while there seems to be one other reference to this on a MSFT forum, the solutions there were basically restart the update service, which doesn't work, or rename some of the Windows files... which I did as well to no avail.
Does anyone know what this error is? Or had it before?
So I was trying to do some updates for Win. 7 and I got Framework 4. FW 4 is fine The updates, OK there were 119 i think of 'em or close. First, the other day I got error 8000FFFF when trying to update. then I got a program for Win. 7 (made by MS) to fix registries. This let me install FW 4 and some updates. Then I came back, didn't get a glance at the screen but my comp. turned off and reset. It was updating registries and then trying to config. win 7, that failed and it reverted to prebious settings, where I am now.
I can press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open Tskmngr and open programs (as I obviously did so.) but the Desktop is black, no icons, no taskbar (explorer.exe)and I might be missing something else. Also the, at the top left window says its personalizing my desktop as if first use. its not, and I've been w8ing for it for over 15 mins now...
My windows update says it has 55 important updates but when I attempt to update it says that the updates were not installed and gives the error code 80246008. The windows help and support tells me I need to change or restart the background intelligent transfer service (BITS) but it isn't in the list of services that it directs me to. The microsoft fixit and automated troubleshooter fixes have both failed to help and I'm a bit worried this is a symptom of a real underlying problem.
windows update error "WindowsUpdate_80070BC9" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"I am using windows 7 64 bit I cannot install any important updates and haven't been since 8/2010
i cant install the service pack 1 for my windows 7 and im using 64bit OS. every time i try this, it "downloads" up to the 29% and then gives me that error. i have tried everything the the info page tells me to do (which isnt much), i even downloaded some repair tool from microsoft downloads page to see if it helps but for some reason it doesnt even there reads in the description that it should fix the update error 80070002.
