Physical Memory HELP For Beginners
Mar 24, 2012
I am having problems with physical memory when I am playing games on Facebook. It has always gone a bit high, but now it shoots up and throws me out of the internet completely.I have tried looking for answers on this site and other places, but most of it confuses me!When I tried to download TSG SysInfo, my pc blocked it as unknown and potentially dangerous so I stopped.I have an Advent pc, 2.67 GB, 32 bit operating system, using IE9.

So I just custom purchased a new computer with 12 GB of Corsair Dominator RAM. My "System Information" shows 12 GB of installed physical memory, but only 10 Gb of available physical memory. And just an hour ago it was only 9.97 GB of available physical memory. Just wondering if anyone knows why it would not be the full 12 GB. As I typed this post, it went back down to 9.97. It was my understanding that the system information is not dynamic, and my available memory should not change anyway.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
I actually work in the IT industry, and have A+, Net+, Sec+, MCSA, CCNA. I am kind of embarassed to be here asking this, but it's odd.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with a Core i7 extreme (not OC yet I just got the PC today lol) and Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 along with a single GTX-285. I found a great deal and would only have saved about $200 building it myself with the exact same specs, so I just went ahead and bought this one. I have been building a lot of systems for friends lately and needed a break.

I've recently noticed that my physical memory is around 76% when I'm not doing much! I have 6gb of ram installed, and I have checked windows task manager. The process that uses the most memory is firefox, which uses 300,000kb of memory. Here's a picture of my task manager: [URL]

What can I do to lower the Physical Memory Usage in my Laptop?
For information, I am using Windows Seven Ultimate (build 7600) with RAM 1 GB, Intel Core i3 M350 @ 2.27 GHz.
When I hit task manager, the Physical Memory:
Total : 941
Cached : 85
Available : 81
Free : 0
Physical Memory average 92% all the time (currently I am using Windows Classic for it is known as the simplest and lowest taking memory of windows setting). If I am using it in normal Windows Seven Aero Themes, my laptop has a big chance to go Blue Screen.
Yes, I gotta tell you that my laptop got Blue Screen suddenly after previous days I set administrator and user password in BIOS. I thought at that time it is just because of it, then after I reset it to default way (no password at all) the system is still has a big chance to go Blue Screen.
I have tried to clean up with Ccleaner, defrag all my disks, using spyware malware removal, and it give me no positive result at all. It is still always goes above 800MB Memory usage with Physical Memory average above 80% all the time.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.Ok, so heres my problem. Maybe 3 or 4 days ago my physical memory started running at around 30%-40% (around 1.5gb), and this is at idle and starts happening right at start-up. Normally in past it runs at around 10% (600mb or so). I have noticed it mainly when plaing SW: Force Unleashed and Dawn of War 2. Gameplay runs fine for maybe 3 or 4 seconds then freezes for 10 seconds then is fine again for 3 or 4 seconds and so on. I have tried disabling services, clean boots, virus scans, searched every forum maybe in existance and have found no soloution. I have 4gd DDR3 Ram (2x2gb sticks) and a 3.2ghz Quad Core AMD processor. Also i have noticed that my CPU usage is around 1 or 2% which is rather small isnt it? In my event log, i have been getting multiple errors relating to a bad block in my hard disk. This error repeats about every minute or so.

My wireless mouse and keyboard are not connecting to my laptop, after just an hour before when I was using it they were working fine. I tried re-starting it, but a blue screen popped, saying that it was deleting physical memory for crash dump. My laptop won't even recognize my mouse or keyboard even when I plug in the USB to a different port, what do I do?

I am running a pretty good PC, with Windows Home Premium x64. All of a sudden I have noticed a sudden drop in my computers responsiveness and so I tried to figure out what was wrong. So I looked at task manager and noticed a high phyiscal memory usage, and then preceded to do all the regular stuff of scan with MalwareBytes, turn off unwanted services and start up programs. Nothing seems to be working. Here is a screenshot of task manager and resource manager.
I just don't understand what is using up all the memory.

Why does my laptop use around 2-3GB of physical memory for NOTHING.
I know my skype, Msn, and TS3 lauch on laptop start, but that should be just about it.
Atleast form anything that takes much memory. Even those 3 dont take much.
i just turn it on and it instantly uses that MUCH OF IT.
How do i reduce it!

This has been going on for about a week now, where my physical memory spikes from a solid 20-30% to 90-96% and just makes my laptop completely unusuable. I currently have 4GB of RAM, so I KNOW it's not an issue with lack of memory. I've investigated this to the point where's it's really starting to drive me mad. I've been using VLC for a good 6 months and this happens all of a sudden, now I can't even use VLC in fear of slowing my laptop to a crawl. I've tried Malwarebytes, scanning for viruses (In safe mode and clean boot), re-installed VLC TWICE, updated everything I could think could be causing the issue, checked the resource monitor each time the spike occurs to see what service could be causing the issue, only to find nothing.

My computer will randomly decide to put up this Blue Screen and tell me it is dumping the physical memory. It says that I should make sure I did not download any new software and to make sure everything is updated. So, Ihad not put anything new on my computer recently so kind of ignored that part. I went through and updated the programs I was using while it crashed (mozilla firefox, internet explorer, itunes) and yet it still keeps crashing. It just crashed a few minutes ago while loading up a game.
I was trying to isolate what program is doing this but it seems any of them pretty much bring it on. Also, it seems Mozilla now freezes randomly when opening a new tab or trying to load a page for about 10-15 seconds and show a white screen saying (Not responding) on top. It usually fixes itself but this will sometimes lead to the blue screen. There is a mention of the BIOS memory and I should take off caching and shadowing. Not sure what to do and how would I access the BIOS memory if this is the next step?

I have a problem in booting my computer. It is Windows 7 64 bit laptop, from Dell. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer separately. When I try to boot my computer, it runs into a blue screen. The blue screen disappears very quickly and then the computer will restart again. I guess the last line of the blue screen is something like physical memory dump.
I tried to boot my computer in safe mode, but it stops at CLASSPNS.SYS. I have also tried to use the startup repair, but in vain. I can't do system recovery because it doesn't have a recovery point. I used the Dell diagnosis tool and ran some tests. It seems that the diagnosis tool can't detect my hard drive. But it is a little bit strange to me because I can access files in my Windows 7 using Ubuntu.

i shut off the computer and restarted it Windows does not boot up any more, it will go to where the Windows icons should fly in, but they never do. It will take me to the startup repair, i tried repairing it but it said it could not.
I tried the system restore from an earlier date but that would crash and say it failed.

couple a times a week something suddenly is eating up all my availible memory. some weeks ago i could se at the resource monitor that is was the svchost.exe, that has these services in use as seen in screenshoot, but now the resource monitor don't show svchost as a big mem hugger anymore. any help? my computer barely moves when this happens, only remedy is a reboot. it is usually at 99% use.opera always use alot of resources, but that only 5-15% so it is not that, the picture is to illustrate what programs that is running and svchost don't show up anymore as a mem hugger, and i don't know if it still that service that still use alot of mem or anything else?

I'm having this for quite some time now, physical memory usage goes up (especially when using firefox/bitcomet - both of which are the highest consumers of memory on my taskbar-around 200-500MB of RAM). shutting them down will only free a small amount of the memory and the rest still counts as taken. at first i thought it was a bitcomet only thing: Bitcomet hogging memory - Comet Forums it looks like a memory leak since the process won't free the memory i also read on google that using a processor with "NUMA" based memory design doesn't go well with windows 7 (which is the case here), therefore i tried to download an attached hotfix which apparently did not match my machine (Windows6.1-KB2155311-x64) here are my specs:
cpu: intel i7 860
gpu: geforce 560 ti
8GB 1333MHZ of RAM
tons of free hd space

My HP desktop suddely slowed down for no reason -- to a "snail's pace" -- and I opened windows task manager and saw that the memory was 99% full. Restarting solves it for a few minutes, then it happens again. I've run Anti-virus (Avira says I have "multiple hidden files") -- and I need another program to fix that. It's been running Ok for a few hours, but I'm sure it will happen again.

(Sony Vaio) has been extremely slow lately, which I am assuming because the physical memory is constantly high (up to 95% at times) even when I am not doing anything. Below are some screenshots for information. I have tried killing some processes but cannot find one process that is a major problem. 52 Processes are currently running which doesnt seem so excessive. Is it normal to have so much memory reserved for hardware?
