New Build, Windows 7 Installer Cannot See HD/Partition
Apr 12, 2010
I know this has been talked about a million times and I've read them all but I still cannot get Windows 7 to see my HD. This is my first build so bear with me being a little new to this.
Gigabyte H55M-UD2H
Intel Core i3 530
4GB (2x2GB) Kingston Ram
LG SATA DVDRW
Hitachi 500GB Deskstar SATA
Thermaltake 600W PS
Apevia Fans/Case
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
I can see the HD listed in the Bios. Ive tried both IDE and AHCI, and Ive tried HPET mode in 32 and 64 Bit. Ive tried reconnecting the hard drive. Still cannot see the hd in the installer.
I have been trying to install windows 7 on my hd and initially started with ubuntu on partition 1 then resized partition to leave unallocated space for windows 7.Now I am installing windows 7 from cd and can't get past 'where do you want to install Windows' page because of error stated in title.I've tried having unallocated space, a ntfs partition, and now have completely wiped the hd of ubuntu's partitions to clean install windows 7. None of the attempts have gotten me past the location of install page.
Upon inserting the windows installation disk into the drive, the basic windows procedures took place. It then asked where we wanted to intall the windows operating system. We decided we wanted to partition his one and only hard drive (a 1TB Seagate at 7200rpm or so). We chose a 100GB partition to be the primary drive where the operating system would be installed. Windows also created a 104mb drive for system files or some nonsense. That left a 900 GB partition that would NOT have windows 7 installed on it. Everything installed, PC booted up and when we open windows explorer, the 900 GB drive does not appear. Maybe it has not been formatted?
I'm replacing my mobo/cpu with Sandy Bridge parts when they become available tomorrow, and I'm hoping to be able to move my data partition over without wiping it. I've currently got my drive partitioned up such that C is Windows 7 and basic programs, and the D drive includes my Steam games and other data. I know that a new mobo means reinstalling Windows, so will I be able to just wipe the C partition, keep the D partition intact, and then reinstall Windows 7 over the C partition on the new computer without issue, or will all the programs on D fail to recognize and function with the new Windows 7 install?
My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?
I am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta?
I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening.
Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?
I have installed Win 7 x64. I suspect I have inadvertently deleted part of the Win Installer 5.0. It is not available as a separate download (only 4.5). I have been stuffing around for several days and have tried many, many things all to no avail. So, the installer could be in quite an indeterminate state.Every time I try to install software (say Office or even the OS) the installation simply fails with setup has encountered n error after a few seconds.I have backups from a month ago, but am unsure whether these had the problem. Is there some way I can reinstall the Win 7 Win Installer 5.0.Also in the services there was a Windows installer service, now there is an Instalator Windows service.
i got a problem about window installer appear when i started my laptop..before this, its does not happen...i use window 7 home basic...when i searched in internet, the problem related but its for window XP not window 7...
I have been attempting to install my hp officejet 6500A printer disc. I keep getting an error message which reads as follows: The software required for your printer could not be installed. The detail read as follows:The window installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assitance. I contacted hp, but they were unable to help me. I am also having trouble installing updates from Adobe.
after upgrading to internet explorer 9, i realized that ie9 doesn't work with most of the things i do in the browser!! facebook locks up, Internet doesn't like it, and most of all, i can't do my online classes because internet explorer 9 is not supported by webassign or csi blackboard. webassign and blackboard do not work in firefox, either.i thought, uninstall ie9 and put internet explorer 8 back on. after being to over 20 different websites, i cannot find an installer for ie8 for windows 7 x64 anywhere. i did try the installers for both windows xp x64 and windows vista x64, but both of them said the installer was incompatable with my version of windows.
i contacted microsoft and they told me to go to programs and features, windows features, and check internet explorer 8. but after i uninstalled ie9, only the internet explorer 9 feature was listed, not 8.so i called support back, and this time they didn't tell me to do that. instead, the support rep, as stupid as he was, told me that internet explorer 8 is not compatable with windows 7. i told him, my computer came with ie8 pre-installed. windows updates is what broke it!so basically, tl;dr, i need an installer for ie8 for windows 7 x64.
have been having problems installing programs in my computer.the error messages i get include "the windows installer service not available". i have tried to activate it at the services.msc and its not even there.
I'm having huge problems at the moment; I can't install MSI files as well as install a handful of other apps. (Including Skype, Solutio)I've googled for hours, but to no avail. I've tried::* /sfcscannow* Going into services, restaring Windows Installer service, setting it to manual * Deleting / replacing msiexec*
I am trying to install a program on my windows 7 home premium, and after using the installer, nothing happens for a long time. This has happened before, and sometimes the installer starts after a few minutes, but sometimes it takes over an hour, and often i have to just shut it down, because i can't wait for it. Does anyone know about this problem, and a solution for it? In the Joblist, under processes, it is called SETUP.EXE*32, and looks inactive.
I've been searching the web all day for a way to reinstall Windows Installer V 5.0?Windows Important Updates will not install Cannot install Yahoo Messenger Was unable to Uninstall Microsoft Office XP until I used Revo Getting error messages : The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. For Updates error codes are : 641 & 8004FF01
My copy of windows 7 came with IE9 and the installers offered for download on the site all tell me that it's incompatible. Is there a 64 bit Windows 7 download of IE8 somewhere (preferably hosted by microsoft) I could use?
I was having a problem earlier with tons of BSOD's, but after getting some help here I was able to solve the problem. But lo and behold I try to install something and get this new problem. I tried going into cmd and unregistering windows installer and then re-registering it but that didnt work. Someone suggesting going into regedit and going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCURRENT CONTROL SETSERVICESMSIserverWOW64 then right click on WOW64, then select Modify Set Value Data to 0 (mine was set at 1) and Base should be Hexadecimal. However, I can't even do this because when I go to MSIserver there is no WOW64 folder so I don't even know what to change.
System restore doesn't work earlier. I really want to avoid a complete reinstall. I was able to avoid it with my BSODs but now with this new issue I cannot install anything on my computer.
I built this computer Dec 11, and have had consistant installer issues from day one. Installing or removing programs hangs/takes forever or doesn't work at all. I don't get any error messages. It just hangs forever. Sometimes, if I go to bed on it, it will be complete in the morning. On the first Windows OS install, once I got the install probs, I just did another clean install. It didn't change a thing.Sometimes, thru the past, I've just ignored the errors, and simply tried to get along without some of the programs I've wanted to install. But now, Windows Updates aren't installing either, and the persistant messages and restart prompts are driving me crazy.Where in the heck do I start? I've run Microsoft's fixit for install errors.
After several automatic update by windows my system time has been changed (easy to change back but why did it happen) the windows installer cannot be accessed. I ran elevated sfc/sannow some repairs were made but not to installer. Would a start up repair work.
I am getting an error when I am attempting to install the C++ Redistributable Package that says:
"Windows Installer Service cannot be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I have attempted to look up what this means, however all of the guides I find are for Windows 2000 or Server 2003! I have also had the same error message pop up when I try to manually install updates with Windows Updater.
Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit version Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 Ghz 4 GB DDR3-1333 GeForce GT220 Western Digital Caviar Blue HHD 320GB 7200 RPM ASUS P5P43TD Motherboard
I built this machine myself but I have very little knowledge about Operating Systems
I have an ASROCK 890gx pro3 MB and GSkill Phoenix Pro 120 gb ssd. The BIOS screen shows the ssd. I have already installed a copy of Windows 7 to my samsung 2 tb HDD but also wanted it to be on the SSD as the primary boot option.I disconnected my HDD, changed the BIOS boot set up to AHCI and Windows installer would not show the ssd. Changed the boot set up to IDE and still no luck
i have win 7 pro, 8gb ram, and home made pc. in the past 3/4 days the unspecified error message "win installer package could not open". i downloaded open office and it installs till the end of ms virtual ++ redistributable and the error nessage pops up. i have applied several fixes to no avail. i verified that win installer service was on, and the folder is intact. dont know if one of the files is corrupt? i am stumped. where do i go from here?
When I installed Windows 7 on to my new laptop I think I did it on to the wrong partition as there is still a 30GB freedos one.Can I merge it with the partition Windows 7 is installed onto as it is getting full?I don't want to have to reinstall Windows again.
I'm building a new computer. Can I partition the hard disk, copy my laptop HD to boot from one partition and run a new windows 7 pro os from the second partition?
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Home Premium. I cannot install Openoffice.org, I have the message": "You need Windows Installer". This is ridiculous, since I install other software to reverse without any problems.
I recently took on repairing a friends computer, trying to remove multiple virusesUnfortunately I was unable to repair the os without a fresh install. I successfully wiped the hard drive with active@ killdisk, but now the dvd drive won't detect the windows 7 install disk. I did some more investigating and found that it reads cd's but not dvd's anymore. I tried making an iso image of the install disk and create a bootable flash drive with unetbootin and the bios detects the flash drive but when i choose to boot from it, the computer jumps to the next bootable device. I'm in a pickle, either I need to find a way to split Windows 7 into multiple cd's or any other way of installing without buying a new dvd tray for them.
I installed Rosetta Stone the other day it worked fine after i fixed another problem, i installed a language pack, bla bla bla bla...I wanted to delete the language pack because it would only let me install one language pack and i couldn't find a way to delete it, bla bla bla bla bla....... So anyway i deleted the language pack manually but when i opened rosetta stone, it opened up windows installer and it said "configuring rosetta stone" or something like that. and after that it said "the installer has encountered an unexpected error......" ".......The error code is 2203. I can't find a way to get it back?
the windows installer is not posting application installs. I see dates in the control panel of install but no volume/meg counts. I have one program I use all the time -fenderfuse - and I cannot get it to work. Most everything else is okay as I installed them a while back and these programs are working. I found 4 virus's yesterday and the virus checker could not put them in the vault so I was able to delete them. The virus detector wanted to check all my boot files. It found several corrupt boot files items and could not repair them. I was able to deleted them, When I check users, rose - application data is missing. I downloaded windows performance kit and windows sdk v7, I believe someone told me to do this so that I can fix my problems but not sure what to do and I didn't put the tech site in my favorites folder so I'm not happy with myself. I do see some debugging tools for windows .64 so I will check that out. I also have microsoft silverlight installed.
I have been getting this error. This is quite a pain when it comes to installing some things, like the newest version of iTunes, some games bought through Steam, etc. I also think it may be the reason why some updates aren't installing right away anymore. I also can't access things like Add And Remove programs, and I believe this is it (as another question, is it potentially? If not, then what is?). Because of it, thins like Adobe Flash Player also won't update. I've been trying to find a way to fix it, but none work. When I try to Google how to reinstall it, I usually get old XP help, or Vista- and I'm not sure that works. This is a problem that's really annoying me, and I will take my laptop to Geek Squad if I can't figure this out. To clarify, this is a Windows 7, Acer, 64 bit
Running Win7 64bit. Have spent hours on various forums with a ton of "so called solutions.Windows Installer doesn't show up under services at all. Can't find a download to reinstall since it should use v5. The v4.5 won't install.
