Network Issue When Streaming To PS3

Dec 13, 2009

I'm attempting to set up PS3 Media Server on my PC running Windows 7. Here's how the setup is right now:

PC is connected to modem/router. PS3 is connected wirelessly.

I can't see the PC on the PS3 but I can see my girlfriend's laptop just fine. I was able to enable the option to allow sharing to the PS3 and resolved the issue on the PS3 not being able to access files.

In a way I have a feeling this has to do something with the fact that they are seeing each other due to the fact that they are on the wireless connection.

In any case, I can't see my PC on my PS3 and I need some help. Running Windows 7 x64.

Streaming Live TV To Another Computer (tv) On The Home Network?

Jul 23, 2011

I have a Windows 7 x64 media PC with a InfiniTV 4 tuner in my living room. In my bedroom I have another TV hooked up to another PC (currently running Vista Business but that's probably about to change...). What would be the best way to get the bedroom setup to behave as close as possible to a normal TV with a cable box by controlling and streaming video from the tuner card in the "main" media pc in the living room? Does media center have anything like this natively? I'm open to solutions that skip the second PC too if there's some magical ethernet based KVM switch that can just pipe everything up to the bedroom...I've been eyeing Orb for a little bit but it looks clunky to use, admittedly I haven't tried it yet though. Also preferably I would like to be able to use both at the same time, with the bedroom PC just hijacking one of the four tuners on the infinitv 4 card.

Streaming Video Constantly Buffering Over Network

May 20, 2009

I have two windows 7 computers connected to my router and one laptop with Windows 7 connected wirelessly, also WinVista 64bit connected to router.

Anytime I watch a movie through the network, it constantly stops and buffers. At least I assume its buffering.

I use VLC player and I've never had this problem until I switched up to Windows 7.

Is there any known issues with this type of problem. I can't find anything on Google.

Streaming Soundcard Output To A Computer Over Network

How can I setup a simple client-to-server audio-streaming solution that will take mear minutes to setup? I want people to be able to play their music using whatever program or web-site they want over the local network to the stationary computer connected up to my sound-system.

I found something about Virtual Audio Cable & Axia IP-Audio Driver but VAC is a bit to complex for me to set up and Axia's IP-Audio Driver is impossible to find. Anyone got a solution to this?

When I select 'Play To' in Media Player, the dialog box does not appear - well is does for a split second then disappears. PCs are 64bit with IE9, laptops 32bit with IE9. All settings checked and the same. Laptops are wireless, PCs on ethernet.

WMP Streaming To Another WMP?

Oct 2, 2011

I'm having a bit trouble setting up streaming and remote controlling from my WMP in laptop (name LAP1) to another laptop running Windows 7 & WMP (name LAP2). Here's what I've done so far...

I have set up a homegroup. Put ticks on all libraries (music, photos, etc.). Turned on Music Streaming. And in further settings of music streaming Ive turned on Allow All. This I've done on both laptops.

In WMP I've turned on "Allow remote control" and "Automatically allow devices to play my media" on both laptops.

I can see both the WMP devices in Network. They both connect to each other ok as well. Now from LAP1 I try to play a music file (right-click; Play To; LAP2). A new window pops up. This shows that the file is trying to be played on LAP2. This window keeps showing a 'waiting sign' (revolving circle), and the WMP on LAP2 shows a message at the left bottom that "media changing...". And that's it.. nothing happens further.

But if I directly play a media from LAP2, that popup window on LAP1 allows me to move the slider position, play/stop, set volume, etc. That remote control feature is working ok. But when I play media from LAP1 to LAP2, it keeps showing a waiting sign and nothing happens.

All 3 computers are on the same homegroup also when they're at my place. Additionally all the computers dont show up for eachother in the ''other libraries'' section of WMP, they show up intermittently.

Streaming From NAS To Windows 7 PC

Nov 13, 2012

I had been using my ReadyNAS Duo Mk1 NAS with my Windows 7 32 bit PC (running an i5-2500k with 8g memory) for a while with no problems. It streams to my WDTV Live Media Player over ethernet & works perfectly with no problems at all even with 19g 1080p files.I decided to change to Windows 7 Prof 64 bit and did a clean install. It all works fine except when I try to stream from the Duo to the PC by double clicking on a movie, again over ethernet (just to check on files) is stutters on the larger files, in places with plenty of action, which it used to play fine before in the 32 bit version. If i copy the file to the PC it plays perfectly. It copys from the Duo to the PC at around 200Mbps, and when it's streaming to the PC at around 10 Mbps.I have tried Media Player Classic Home Cinema & VLC which both have the same stutter when steaming.

Streaming Video From Internet

May 23, 2011

I just bought a new Hp desktop presario, when I first got it I could watch video from any source online and it would stream no problem. Then a couple of weeks ago things changed, now if I open a tv show from any of the online sources none of the shows will stream as before, they will run maybe up to 5 minutes and then pause. I then have to restart the video stream. I have tried both IE and Mozilla, I get the same result, I have updated FlashPlayer with no change. I can see that it is a system issue on my machine but cannot locate what needs to be reset. I have created a new user as well to see if that will work but nothing changes.

Streaming Media From PC To Xbox 360?

Dec 30, 2011

What I would like to do is to be able to access all of my music and videos from my computer and external hard drive, on my Xbox, through my router. I am using the Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus and firewall, and no third party antivirus/antispyware or firewall programs.I have an Xbox 360 Elite, not one of the new wireless versions. I went into HomeGroup on my computer and checked 'share media with devices' and also checked music, pictures, and videos. So far I can play music on the Xbox by going to the music app and choosing my PC. The problem is, I can only play songs that are directly in the Music folder on my computer. And only certain songs at that, I'm not sure why. I have a subfolder within Music called Full Albums and I cannot play ANYthing in that subfolder. What am I missing? Also, is it possible to access music and videos on my external hard drive? Provided my external hard drive is connected to my computer of course.Lastly, I can't access anything unless I disable Windows Firewall. How do I set up an exception for the Xbox so that I don't have to disable the firewall every time I want to do this?

Cannot Turn On Media Streaming?

May 9, 2012

I have a home network setup and am running Windows 7 Pro on my main computer. I am trying to stream my media from this computer to other devices on the network and have successfully many times on this network, mainly to a Sony tv in the living room. I don't know when or what happened, but one day I tried to watch a video on my TV, and the Windows Media Server was unavailable.-Network is setup as a "Home" Network-I have Windows firewall turned off-Am running Norton 360 firewall instead of Windows firewall-Have reset Norton firewall to all the default settings (which I believe allows media sharing by default)-Have my libraries shared-But, here's the problem I believe- when I go to Windows Media Player to ensure Media streaming is enabled, a button says "Turn media streaming on", but when I press it, it grays out for a few seconds, like it is turing it on, but then dosen't change to "Turn media streaming off", nor do I get the button at the bottom to "Save" settings.I recently converted to a SSD drive for OS and seperate data drive in RAID0, so changed a regristry key to move the user files to another drive location (all programs and files open the way they should on the computer right now, and I believe media streamiing has worked since then.

Streaming / Downloading Issue

Dec 21, 2009

when i open any webpage in firefox or ie8, it only sometimes loads. half the time, the progress bar will sit about halfway loaded, then eventually give a cannot connect to webpage error, and then when i refresh it will load almost instantly. the second problem is streaming of any sort, and downloading. streaming from any site, no matter how "fast" it is (Internet vs, say, msn), takes forever. i click play, it will buffer 1 second...play one second...buffer for 15 seconds and gain about 3 seconds of playable material.

occasionally, it will completely stop buffering and i will have to refresh the page to try again. also, something strange on Internet for me is that i have to wait until the video is completely done buffering to click on any other links on the page. for example, if i am watching x video, i have to wait until it is done buffering to click on and have y video successfully load. then it just repeats the buffering issue again. note that i can use "copy link location" options in firefox, restart the browser, and then paste it back in to get it to load without having the first video buffer all the way (sorry if that was a bit confusing, it's an odd problem).

downloading aspect is that it will start out fine (still with cruddy download speeds, 230 kb vs advertised 10 mb), then drop to 0 kbps and then eventually give me a cannot read source file. this applies to everything, essentially, from Internet (i download the videos to watch instead of waiting 30 minutes for a 2 minute video to load), to rapidshare and mediafire and even simple driver downloads. i think that is everything, if i remember something else i'll edit it ;p

i can't test the connection with an ethernet cable until basement construction is finished, and i can run an ethernet cable up from the new media center to my room. i am using the adapter "atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band wireless network module" that came installed with vista x64 on the original computer, which i upgraded to windows 7 and installed the "original atheros wireless lan driver" for windows 7 found here, which i then updated with driver-genius professional edition to the most recent version (yeah, i actually paid money to try and get this fixed...).

the only other thing i can think of which may be an issue, if the build of windows 7. every except the network is fully functional, so i am pretty sure that's not it. here is a ss just to be sure.

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4840/buildx.jpg

any questions, just ask. i really will try and help get this problem solved.

edit #1: i have a laptop, from hp, with vista x32 on the same network. runs beautifully, buffers fine, nice download speeds, and all the extra fluff that you can add to this list. but it has a different adapter, so that's why i'm thinking something is going on with the atheros. if you think that's the problem too, can you point me to a good non-usb wireless adapter?

Video Streaming Choppy?

Mar 12, 2011

I am having problems with playback of streaming video from the internet.Sound and buffering do just fine, but the video is often so choppy that it is unwatchable.Considering this machine is hooked up to my Mitsubishi WD-65837 TV as a HTPC, this is unacceptable.

The machine is:
AMD Sempron 3200+ 1.8 Ghz
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD5570
Windows 7 Ultimate, fresh install
Networked via ethernet to router to cable modem

Here are some points/things I have tried:

*local video plays back just fine via VLC

*It happens both in original window and full screen

*I have disabled hardware acceleration on Flash player

*It is not a router/network problem, as I have a Dell Studio Laptop via wireless and it plays streaming video just fine

*All drivers and Catalyst are up to date

*Fresh install of Windows 7, so it isn't a resource problem

*I have messed with every setting in Catalyst

*Speedtest and Pingtest come out 13 MB/s and A grade

*Happens in IE, FF, Opera, and Chrome.

Streaming Audio To Two Outputs?

I tried looking for an answer to this in the forums and on Google first, but I couldn't find anything for my issue. I have a set of computer speakers that I like to listen to music through, and a USB headset that I like to listen to games and movie through. I switch back and forth pretty often, but every time I do, I have to log out and log back in for the newly plugged-in device to actually make sound. Is there any way to set up Win7 to play audio to both devices so that I can just turn off my speakers when not in use?
