McAfee RTS Keeps Turning Off, No Internet Connection
Nov 2, 2012
I have an hp Pavilion deskdtop Model m9077c, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 X64 Home Premium (Ver. 6.1.7601). My Internet connection is via at&t Uverse and a 2Wire gateway.
-Recently I downloaded what turned out to be a bogus software (which I have since deleted) and it resulted in a yellow triangle showing up on my wifi icon in the tray, telling me there was no Internet connection. The connection to the router and my home group is fine with strong signal. I also have multiple other desktops, laptops, iDevices and even an EV charger that are connected to the internet throught the same gateway without any problems. Simultaneously, I started to get warning messages from my McAfee that my Real-Time Scanning was turned off. Turning it on manually proved to be ineffective as it would turn off again within seconds everytime.
- Windows Network and Sharing Center shows that my connection to the router is OK, but there is no Internet connection. So I ran Windows Network Diagnostics and the response was: "Issues found, security and firewall settings might be blocking the connection."
- I contacted at&t and they managed to ping and reset my router remotely. In the end, all they could tell me was that the problem was in my computer's setup and that I should get help from Windows or McAfee.
- A suggestion from a McAfee support forum was to uninstall McAfee, restart in Safe mode (which would allow Internet connection), download and reinstall McAfee, and do a full scan to remove any potential virus. Unfortunately, I did not have Internet connection even in Safe mode! So now the problem still persists and I do not have McAfee on my computer either.

I have two Windows 7, two win xp (4 in total) connected as file sharing network.1. hen I turn the router off and then on, the win xp computers see all the rest, but Windows 7 computers see no one, they still have the internet ability.2. If I turn on the Windows 7 computers first: the 1st sees nobody, the second sees the first but not the consecutive computers. No home group.

I can turn on a pc from another machine on the same home network, but can not from the Internet.I am doing this Wake-On-WAN experiment at home by using two machines each connected to the Internet through different ISP.The problem must be somewhere in the BIOS or the router setting for the machine to be turned on.I reviewed the BIOS and found the relevant option was enabled by default. As for the router(D-Link DIR 655), I set the portforwarding for the machine with a arbitrary port number assigned. I did not see anything else relevant but I might have missed something. To send the magic packet, I am using depicus GUI. I also tried one at dslreports website.

I am having the problem namely the gateway issue with internet turning off and on. I've tried with the disable Bonjour service thing but I cant find the Bonjour service at all so I guess I don't have it. Then I've read that you should update your driver and I just need a tip which driver I should get.
My network card:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Board:
ASUS P5G41T-M/USB3

We are a small business with a number of field workers who are out and about all the time. The will need to pick up new connections at hotels and the like, but every time they want to add a new wifi connection they are required to put in the Administrator Password. My question is, is it possible to turn this off, so that they can add whatever network connection they want but still keep the admin password for adding new programmes and the like.

I am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?

when my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click. Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off. Norton says no viruses. My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.

I was installing a software on my other laptop (it had SQL software with it) and I ran into some trouble as I got error problems that the installation of the software had failed and now whatever I do, I can't access the web! Sure enough, my wireless connection connects successfully and it indicates that I am on the "Internet" but every time I try to use either firefox or internet explorer to go to a web site, it says I don't have a connection.

I am working on a new Windows 7 build and have not been able to get an internet connection on my (MSHOME) LAN.I have a Belkin 4 port router and a DSL modem. Two XP Home computers on my LAN connect OK. The new Windows 7 has problems. After assigning a static IP address of 186.192.2.8 to the Windows 7 computer I can share with the XP computers and sign in on the router. (I have not been able to get Windows 7 to share in the DHCP pool. This inability to obtain a DHCP address also happened on a previous Windows 7 build that I aborted due to mobo issues. Their too I had to assign a static IP address.)AVG Internet Suite firewall network 186.192.2.1 - 2.8 assigned as safe.I get a network picture of the Windows 7 computer connected to an unknown network (public) and a red X between the network and the internet.I tried to rename the unknown network "MSHOME" but have been unable to do so. I did not attempt to make a Windows 7 workgroup as I understand it would not work with this OS mixture.

What is almost depressing is those that want faster speeds have more speed on one connection than I can get on both of my connections. I can't fathom why one would need that much speed, but I digress. In my case I live way, way out in the country, no cable, no DSL, I am stuck with satellite and tethering my smart phone. Now one might think the smart phone could solve it all, and true I have seen maintained speeds of 1600K with spikes over 2400K (saw almost 3000K once). Unfortunately those kinds of speeds are only reached in the very late evening and earlier morning hours (or if I am in town). During the day, while every once in a great while for a second it may hit those speeds, getting it to even give me an average 100K consistently, is a fantasy. Now, I also have satellite for my internet. And it speeds are decent for most things (on occation it get a bit slow), but they have this off the wall policy they call a fair usage policy (very dumb name for the policy). Basically if I use over 3GB of bandwidth (cost about $90/month) in a rolling 30 day window (not per month) they knock my speed back to about 80K till my usage for the rolling 30 day window is under 75% of my 3GB allowance. Basically I do not dare watch any videos or download anything more than a few MB in size, or I could end up stuck at horrendous speeds for a week or so.
So to make this all work I only do large downloads and watch videos using my phone. Usually I do downloads while I am sleeping, and if I wish to watch a movie, I have to do it late. But every once in while I will want to start a download at say 10am because its a fairly good chance it will be done before it gets to late. Or on occasion I have had large enough downloads that it takes longer than what I plan to be asleep for. So doing this means I have no, usable, internet access during the download. I have on several occasions tried enabling the satellite while a download on my phone was in progress but any attempts to access a web page would still go through my phones connection. Well today I found I needed a 200MB download and waiting on my phone was not an option (plus 200MB won't impact me too much) so I ran it on the satellite but while it was going I connected my phone and found all web site requests went through my phone, also a small update was found and it downloaded via the phone, all while the 200MB download continued on the satellite connection. So the question, is there a way that I can direct what connection is used? No matter what is connecting; IE, Firefox, Windows Update, Online Game, etc can I tell them which connection to use? I am not looking for load balancing, just to point a given activity to use a particular connection while simultaneously pointing another activity to use a different connection. So, for example, if I need a download I can use IE via the smart phone to download, while I use Firefox via the satellite to continue working.

I have searched online for this and I am still unclear if it is possible. I have a laptop connected to my tv for watching videos. It is connected to my home network through a wireless connection. Can I share the internet with my blu-ray player through the laptops ethernet port? The blu-ray doesn't have wireless and it's too far from my router.

I have a new Macbook running dual OS - mac and windows 7 home premium. I also have an ASUS running windows 7. When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).

i have a very small but very nagging problem concerning my internet connection. Sometimes the connection turns itself off, to counter this on the connection properties menu of Windows (this screen, it's in portuguese but i think you know what i'm talking about))
i simply turned on the option to reconnect when the connection goes down, every 10 seconds in this case and i make it so it does NOT have to ask for the phone number. The whole purpose is so that it reconnects itself when i'm not at the computer. It works, the problem is that every time i make a new connection, every time the computer starts, for instance, all these options turn back to default! I have to do it all over again every time i make a new connection! Wich is all the time!

I'm having a problem maintaining an Internet connection. My Internet co told me they were not seeing my linksys router and advised me to call linksys support for configuration. Linksys would not help me because the router is no longer under warranty. However, it appears to be working fine. All lights are on. When I lose the connection , if I disable and then enable my wireless network connection it immediately reconnects. It may hold for a minute or for several hours but eventually I have to repeat that action. I haven't changed the configuration of the router.

Unfortunately, this has to be done each time you connect and if you leave the internet open it eventually disconnects.I ran windows 7 diagnostic and it says everything is fine.
