View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with windows 7 and the DVD drive is not working at all. I have tried with brand new DVDs, music CDs and video games and none of them work. When I put in a disc there are a few wurring noises but nothing loads up. When I click on the drive in Computer the drive opens and tells me to insert a disc.In properties and Device Manager it says the device is working properly.I have tried reinstalling the drive, deleting upper and lower filters, and I have run the Windows Fixit program and nothing has worked so far. My drive is: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device. My computer is about a year old and is completely standard. I have hardly used the DVD driver at all since I purchased the computer so I have no idea how it could have broke.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed this a few minutes ago, I just got finished watching a movie, and was putting music on when I was about to load World of Warcraft, I brought up winamp with the tracks from the CD that I had saved to my playlist, and it'd skip right over them to the next track I'd saved on my hard drive, I'd tried deleting the filters as I'd seen in other threads, and even shutting down, unplugging it, and re-plugging it back into my power supply, but still to no avail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a dell xps L501x. My dvd player is not reading any dvd movies, disc with data.. and etc. It reads cd though. I insert a blank dvd, it reads the blank dvd and ask me what i want to do. But if i insert a dvd with things on it, it would not read it. If i click on the dvd drive, after awhile my dvd tray will eject and pops up a message asking me to insert a dvd.
I check the driver, and it says everything is working properly. I went on dell website and did a dell hardware diagnosed and everyhting passed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not a newbie when it comes to PCs either, I build my own and repair/troubleshoot others.
For some reason, my computer stopped reading DVDs in the drive. CDs load fine and I can burn to them. I checked the hardware properties and somehow Windows has decided to install a CDROM driver to the device, which is why I believe DVDs are no longer being read. I've tried going through and uninstalling the driver and getting rid of the registry keys assosicated in order for the correct driver to be installed, but Windows keeps installing incorrect ones. This just happened a few days ago, tried restoring Windows to a week ago and same problem exists. Less than a month ago I used it to install Diablo 3 so I know it works fine.

View 1 Replies View Relatedthe problem i'm having is to do with the dvd/cd device on my "acer aspire 4741 with windows 7 home premium x64 notebook".the driver for the device is:DVD/CD ROM drives - (Standard CD-ROM drives)HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30Ni decided to creat a system backup to use in case of a serious crash and i have to reinstall windows. i was able to do this on 4dvds using erecovery. i haven't had the need to use theseince then, i have burned some folders onto a dvd disc....to use like a usb....using windows explorer. all goes well with the burning part but when it comes to mounting the disc to access the folders is when all hell breaks loose.
whenever i slot the disc into the device, a dialog box shows up asking how i'm going to be using the disc. if i skip that part, launch windows explorer and double click the dvd icon, a window shows up alerting me to drag files onto the window to burn, but the folders that i had already burned on the dvd never shows up.this is what i have tried so far:1) launched microsoft fixit4me from the microsoft support center to check and fix dvd/cd device.result: problem detected but could not fi2) started system in "safe mode" ran diagnostic tool.result: CDROM-the device,DeviceCDROM0 has a bad block

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR51SU Laptop which was running Windows Vista 32 Bit. I purchased windows 7 and installed the 64 Bit version. Everything seems to work fine apart from my Matshita BD-MLT UJ-220S Bluray burining drive. The laptop only sees it as a CD Rom. the device appears with the correct name as above but only as a cd rom capability. It can read and write CD's and it can read normal Dvds. It no longer Burns Dvd or Bluray whatever I seem to do.The sony site does not provide drivers or anything that will sort this out as they don't officially support this machine being upgraded to windows 7. I cant find any vista 64 Bit drivers for it as I imagine they would work, I cant even find the 32bit drivers for this device - Although I dont imagine that would work even if I did.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would assume this problem has come up a number of times but I can't seem to find the exact topic. I just got a new desktop, an Acer Aspire AM3910-U4012
OS : Windows 7
Proc: 3.2GHz - dual core
Cache : 4MB
RAM: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz (2x2gb, 2x1gb)
HD: 1TB
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics
Power Supply : 300W
Motherboard: Intel H57
I plan on adding a new video card, and most likely will also have to up the power supply if I do so.
The issue I am having is the computer is only running 4G of RAM. I ran DXDiag and it recognizes the 6G but for some reason I am not getting 100% of my RAM.
I bough a new laptop 2 weeks ago (Asus with windows 7) and decide it was the time to install Microsoft office today, what a surprise the CD drive can't read anything...I've tried CD, DVD and Blue ray nothing work!Basically, when I click on the DVD RW drive it open the DVD reader and said <please insert disc into drive>. Then, it start reading for 2 seconds, stop before opening anything and bring me back the same error <please insert disc into drive> like if there was nothing in the drive. I think the drive itself is functional it is only a reading issue. I found some tips but nothing work for me
