Sep 18, 2011when i got this laptop with windows xp - wifi worked perfectly. I've decided to install Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, and it stopped. I cant find ANYWHERE ANYTHING about wi-fi - not in network tab, not in device manager. I've got RTL8168D/8111D network card, laptop is Lenovo Edge 15 (302-4CG). I've checked BIOS, pressed combination of keys to turn off/on radio and installed some drivers from lenovo site (Lenovo Support - Download Drivers and Software (US)), and i still cant see the card.

Feb 25, 2012I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS940 laptop and have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. It won't recognize my card ( Intel (R) GMA 900). My OOS (Original Operating System) was XP. But, since this computer was used from my brother he had installed Windows 7 Pro. Since my computer was very slow, I'd thought I'd do a new install. And as clueless as I was I installed Ultimate instead of Pro. My computer became really fast once again but I couldn't play my games anymore.

Problem: Sound card works fine in 32 bit, but is unrecognized in 64 bit. All other systems nominal. Solutions tried to date.
(1) Sound card un and re-installed.
(2) SB solution SID 82669 (force detection through LGPE, D/L and install new drivers) Failed.

Dec 26, 2009I am new to this forum and looking for some opinions. I recently built a new desktop and installed Win 7 64bit and it was a walk in the park. So now I am going to upgrade the wife's laptop. It is a HP Pavilion zv6270us. It has a Athlon 64 3500+ at 2.0GHz with 2GB DDR PC2700 Cl 2.5 333mhz memory. I dual booted Win 7 RC 64bit to test and had a few driver problems since HP won't support this unit for Win 7.
I was able to use some Vista drivers with a hack to get the sound working. Only thing not working is the Fax Modem which I never use. We use the laptop for E-Mail, Web browsing and wife is addicted to "Bejeweled 2" which runs fine under Win 7 64.
I was thinking of installing Win 7 32bit and wondering if 64bit was worth the effort as far as bootup time and performance. I was thinking 32bit might have better drivers and might even perform better.

May 28, 2012I have a new Toshiba Laptop (Windows 7 64bit CORE i3). I would like to run (via usb) and old hdd from my desktop which was 32bit Windows 7. I have the old hard drive in a SATA enclosure and running it via USB to my laptop. When I attempt to either copy or read the old hard drive I get a write protect error. I have tried the MS registry changes to remove "write protection" but the registry entry they call for is non existent in my laptop registry. My last post on this was annotated as solved...but my explanation was weak. I do not want to run this drive as a permanent addition to my system, I just need to copy some files from the old drive to the new one. If I attempt to use Control Panel/Disk Management it tells me the old drive is not "initialized". Both options to initialize don't work. I have some very important medical records that must be copied from old hdd to new.
