"Invalid Start Mode: Archive File-name"

When i right click on any of my winrar files i get the option to install with GTA mod installer, I used to have the program but i deleted it. I go to my windows folder and there is a San Andreas Mod Installer file. Inside there is a uninstall program, when i try to uninstall i get an error message that says, "Invalid start mode: archive filename"What does this mean? Is the program already uninstalled? Is there a way to get rid of the option when i right click on a winrar file?

I'm trying to UNINSTALL programs that I have not used for a long time. I can't find those in Control Panel -> Uninstall Programs & Features, but I found it in C:Windows folder. When i tried to Run the Uninstall Application I'm prompted with: INVALID START MODE: ARCHIVE FILENAME
the programs i'm trying to uninstall were scanned with rootkits by Avast! antivirus

Several months ago I got a new laptop with Win 7 Pro SP1 64bit. I have done numerous backups on this machine but I've noticed that the file attribute 'archive bit' (a) is not being reset as it was on Win XP. (NOTE: backups were full backups not incremental or differential. Does Win 7 treat file attribute bits differently than XP? I also have noticed that 7 displays various attribute bits that were not used in XP; where is there a description of all attribute bits?

I've got an old computer that is running Windows XP that I've decided to upgrade to Windows 7. After a bit of trouble, I managed to get through the installation process. At least I think I've got through the installation process - the problem starts soon after the bit where you have to name the computer. Soon after, the computer has to restart, but when it does there are some strange noises from the computer and an error flashes onto the screen for a second:Invalid BOOT.INI fileBooting from C:\windows\And then the screen just goes black. I had to boot it up using the Windows 7 CD again and I tried going on repair installation. It checked, tried and failed to repair. Under details it said "A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting".I haven't added any new hardware during the installation process - all that was connected was the keyboard, USB mouse, monitor and power cable.

I put it in a zip file because it kept saying invalid to upload... I have spent two days on the web reading everything I can find on this subject and have tried many of the suggestions but simply cannot get this update to install. I even went to restore back to before downloading the two XP mode files. Virtual Machine is enabled in BIOS and the MS tool verifies that. The event viewer has many red errors and some of them say ....Windows update could not be installed because of error 2147942413 "The data is invalid." (Command line: ""C:Windowssystem32wusa.exe" "C:Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu" ")I am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit with SP1 and all updates since 1-1-11. The Mobo is ASUS M5A88-M with AMD FX-4100 and 8Gb RAM. So far this is the only problem I have been having with software and the PC was put together last weekend.

My boss has an Epson P-7000 digital photo viewer. The other day, after he had taken the pictures off of it, he formatted it. I guess he thought that he was formatting the SD card, but he ended up formatting the unit instead. Now, when you turn it on, you get an error message that says "Invalid File System, please power off the device".I figured that the best way to fix this was to update the firmware. However, it won't let me get that far.

I have a PC with windows vista installed. I recently bought windows 7 home premium and installed a fresh copy of it. Every time I download some software like Chrome, VLC, iTunes , it downloads fine, but when it has to install it gives strange errors. I have seen all kinds of errors.
E.g.: VLC gives NSIS error.
Microsoft Security Essentials gives "File Corrupt Error".
Got certificate invalid error for some other software. if I download zip files, they fail with CRC check.
Just to be sure it wasn't hardware issue, I installed vista as a second OS and that works fine. I am really uncertain what is causing the issue (seems network related though). I had an old router and just purchased a new linksys router. Other configurations are: Core 2 Quad, EVGA SLI ready motherboard, 4GB DDR2 ram, ASUS EN210 gphx card.

I am using acer laptop,intel Pentium processor,windows7 professional os,my problem is windows is not starting normally and is running safe-mode.when entering normal mode it is displaying "welcome" after entering password "Please wait",it takes a long time to starting window and i'm waiting more than 24 hours but its not starting window normally...but it starting safe mode.

i bought my hp pavilion dv6 laptop in 2010 and the warranty went out on 2011, i turn on my laptop and i only get the quick web. a few months back, I use windows update to install a windows update. After, some strange things have hapend. When I booted my computer on, my monitor went into powersave mode and wouldent come out of it, so I switched the port and it worked fine. I then went to play minecraft, I noticed it was very laggy. I checked my system score and it has dropped by 1.1 points for some reason. I tried to use recovery to roll back the update but it didnt make a difference, so I tried to re-install the OS. I went to control pannel -> Recovery -> advance recovery methods and reinstall windows. It restarted, and once it restarted and boots into the part when I am reintalling the OS it it gives an error:"The unattended answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the invalid key or provide a valid product key in the unattended answer file to proceed with this windows installation."What I have tried:
Re entering the product key
Try to install it many times
reinstalling drivers
using recovery

Running win 7. Just scanned my C drive w/ESET and the scan turned up several damaged archived files (see below).Should I:
1. Delete the damaged archived files shown trusting that there won't be any repercussions later?
2. Leave everything as is and forget about it?
3. Any reason not to delete the damaged files and leave everything as is since all is currently good?

I use a backup software called Macrium Reflect and they have an option for splitting your backup archive. I have a split archive that I have stored over multiple hard drives (because it is a very large file), but I cannot open the archive unless the archives are all in one folder. Is there some way to make a "virtual directory" or network drive so that I can use these files as if they are in the same folder, even though they are on different drives?

My daughter's XP laptop crashed (trashed hard disk that I doubt we can rescue much data from) and so we got her a Windows 7 computer. Unless we can rescue much of the old data from crashed XP, she's pretty much starting off empty. Except that today I discovered on an external hard drive the "Easy Transfer" of her account from 15 months ago, from a computer she shared at that time, that was used to "port her up" on the XP laptop. So in theory, this "Easy Transfer" archive should have all of her data and files from 15 months ago.
But although the archive looks like regular Windows folders and files, on closer examination, it's not. For example, I know there are jpg and .doc files, plenty of them, in the mix, yet all I see is lots of shortcuts to such files. Is there a way, without running Windows Easy Transfer (I don't want to mess with her now running and configured Windows 7 laptop), to turn the Easy Transfer archive into a source from which I could copy over selected files and folders onto her new machine?

I have a quick question about compressing a bunch of log files that have specific years at the end of their file names.[code When the above is executed, it looks for an "archives" folder. If it's not there, it tries to create it as a place to store the yearly ZIP archives (notice the years are in bold in the above list of example files). Beyond that, it just goes through steps of reading the file names and parsing the name itself if and only if they're of type *.log. As you can see, I'm still working on this but wanted to understand why "ECHO is off." keeps repeated during runtime... I thought I had it set to OFF. It has me stumped.

I want to copy my pictures to an external hard drive. When I load digital pictures to "my pictures"on my computer, it also copies them to my ext. hard drive. Should I delete a picture from "my pictures" it also deletes the picture from my ext. hard drive. I want to keep the ext. hard drive pictures safe no matter what I do with the pictures on my computer "my pictures." Any one have an idea how I can do that.

So i just purchased a new computer to run World of Warcraft xDThis morning my computer wasnt working as intended. I booted it up and it went through the usual stuff, the winds logo popped up, then suddenly the screen went black and i got the message "out of range" on my monitor.I restarted the computer and the same happened again, after the windows logo, the screen goes blank.I then ran it in safe mode + networking and everything was fine !I tried "repair my computer" on the start up menu, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode.I tried configuring my PC to an earlier point in time, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode .I tried uninstalling my drivers (within safe mode) and it still wouldnt boot up in normal mode.
Could it be the monitor resolution? if so whyyyyy? it's been working fine for two weeks.Also yesterday we had about 5 random power cuts? could this have caused the problem?Everything works fine in safe mode so i think it's not a hardware problem, but normal mode just gets me to the windows logo loading screen then the monitor goes black

when i set my pc in "sleep" and in the morning i try to turn it on(by pressing the on- button or key/mouse-button) all i see is my keyboard light up and my pc wont start up not even a fan moves.and then i have to unplug the power-cable from the pc, and wait a few seconds. and all my unsaved work is gone.and i really need the sleep mode to work properly?
