How To Show "arrow Icon" For "Notification Area Icons" Setup In TaskBar Beside Systray
Oct 29, 2011
On one of my Win7 machines I have a arrow icon shortcut close to the system which (when clicked) opens the "Notification Area Icons" setup dialog (= the window which opens when I go to
Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsNotification Area Icons) On another Win7 machine this arrow icon shortcut is not visible. How can I tell Win7 to embed this arrow icon onto TaskBar?
where is the General Tab In this Network adapter? Also, I couldn't find that check box for Display Network Icon on the Taskbar? Where can I find it? Is something wrong with my new installation of windows 7?
As the title said there is just no notification area arrow. I right clicked task bar> properties> "notification area" customize and all i see is nothing in the box. It says at the top. some settings can only be managed by your system admin, well i AM the system admin. it was showing up earlier and all i did was update windows and poof arrow gone and when i minimize things they disappear.
A week ago all the notifications in the notification area stopped appear. There is no problem with icons - they all are there, but the notifications aren't display. My taskbar is set to autohide. When there must be a notification - i.e. when I disconnect a flash drive - the task bar stays for a moment (like there is a notification) and then hides, but there is no notification shown at all. The situation is the same with all other notifications.By default I work with the checked option "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar". I tried to uncheck this option and select "Show icon and notifications" for all icons, also tried to set "Only show notifications", with no success - the notifications aren't display under any circumstances.I tried to Reset the notification area icons cache, but this also doesn't help. Tried to turn off Aero - no change. Tried to turn On/Off "Always show all taskbar icons and notifications" using reg files from here, in both cases there are still no notifications. In fact not a single notification showed in any way for the last week.
I remember their being an option in the older Windows media player versions and now its adding on to my clutter when i often have 6-7 programs going at once
deleting a icon from my notification icon area, i have recently uninstalled the program, and the notification is still there. the program is called Hide My Ip and i used it once and hated it.
I have completely removed several apps using Revo Uninstaller so I know its been completely removed, yet somehow it still remains in the Notification Area Icons area...(The place to turn the icons on or off....) Is there any way to clean this up so the old icons from applications that at one point were installed but arent?
Just started having a small problem with icons not showing in the notification area. The programs are running (or so Task Manager tells me), but I am unable to open a program that does not show its icon.
One program is SUPERAntiSpyware. I have it set to run a scan each night and I usually click on the icon the notification area to see results. Also use Karen's Replicator to backup some data each night.
New to Windows 7, like it a lot, but I have one thing that is driving me batty. On the taskbar, in the notification area, I have many of the standard Windows system icons, volume, power settings, wifi, hidden icons, etc. When I try to access the options in those popup notifications. the notification disappears so quickly that I don't even have time to get my cursor on it. Maybe one in five tries I can get on it before it folds, but for practical purposes trying to use those icons is hopeless. It seems like the 'puter or the OS is just too fast.I found one crackbrain suggestion to take out the battery (I have a laptop) and to press the power button a few times, and them replace battery and boot. Naturally, that solution didn't work, but I tried it anyway. There is also a suggestion about using the Ease of Use to set a time for notifications that doesn't do it. The notification area doesn't play by those rules. 5 seconds? I can't get 1/5 of a second.
No matter how I try to access the Icon Notification Area to customize hidden task bar icons, Win 7 freezes to a great extent. I am running 64 bit Win 7 SP1.
Under these conditions, when I put my pointer onto the task bar it changes into a hand with a pointing index finger. The Icon Notification Area will not show icons and all I get there is an interminable spinning blue circle.
The Task Manager will not correct this condition and I have to close my windows session manually with the power button. It seems something has been corrupted but I am at a loss. I have run chkdsk /f and sfc to no good effect.
I am running some 32 bit programs including MS Office Pro.
I cannot access the notification area icons page neither from control panel nor from the taskbar pop up to customize, the page in explorer stays loading and it goes nowhere. im running windows 7 ultimate in an asus notebook.i recently deleted some programs used to hide the taskbar and interrupted and remove and installation of uxstyle, but dunno if that is related.
My notification area will not stay customized. I have set 5 icons to always show, but after a windows update, scan by MSE or even after a reboot, the area changes back to the default of only showing the volume and action center flag.Is there a setting anywhere to "keep" the customize settings?
I have the problem that my program is shown there but i can't set it to "Show Icon and Notification". Every time i close the program and open it again, the settings are the default "Only show notifications". Is there a work around to force this? And NO i don't want to check the options "Always show all Icons and notifications on the taskbar"
I have several applications in the Notification Area (some call "system tray"). Can anybody tell me how I can access them using Speech recognition?
I do not mean by saying "mousegrid" etc. and drilling down, but wonder if there is a command that I have not found that relates specifically to the Notification Area.
I like to enable the Guest Account on my Windows 7 computer so that my family can also use my PC for simple web surfing.
One thing that I have noticed in Windows 7 is that when in the guest account no network icon appears in the notification area (aka system tray) to tell you the status of the network connection. This is particularly annoying for me as our wireless network connection can be flaky at times (I blame the neighbours!) and it is good to be able to see the status.
Does anyone know how to enable the network status icon in the guest account?
I have a couple of programs who's icons I have set to always show, one of them is mailwasher for example. Everything is fine until my wife logs onto her account when I log back onto mine mailwasher becomes hidden again by. So it means I have to unhide it every time she logs on. It's not all icons that do this
I have this very weird problem in which the 'Notification Area Icons' Window automatically pops up right after Windows Boots. Usually it shows after a minute or so after windows boots. Even if i keep my computer idle it shows up automatically (but only following a boot). This is irritating me quite a lot
I tried re - installing Windows but still the problem persists. I have a IBM Thinkpad T510 loaded with Windows 7 professional 32 bit. I googled this qute a lot but could not find a fix.
Click on 'Show more Icons' on the Taskbar, then click 'Customize...'Now at the bottom of the Dialog click the link 1. 'Turn system icons on or off' then in the following Dialog (at the bottom again) click the link 2. 'Customize notification icons' again, - now just keep repeating doing steps 1 and 2 for a couple of times, THEN try clicking the 'Cancel' Button - and see how many times it takes to close the Dialogs? On the first time you click The 'Cancel Button' it should close the Dialog - right? But instead it takes a couple of 'Cancels'?
Somehow, while configuring my new Win 7 laptop, I have deleted all my notification icons. They aren't hidden, they are gone.If I right click the taskbar and go to customize, they are all listed, but grayed out so I can't check them.
I installed a few apps yahoo IM for example. It installed a taskbar notification icon, but when I deleted the application and rebooted it still shows a choice in the Customized section of the Notification Area in the Menu.I found a fix for this, not sure if its the best way but it works! SO I hope some of you will enjoy this!BeWarened you need to regedit!#1. Regedit to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal ettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionTrayNotify#2. Delete the entries for IconStreams and PastIconsStream. (close Regedit)#3. CTRL + ALT + DEL Start taskmanger Find Explorer in the Processes tab and end the task#4. While in Task Manager click file, New Task (RUN) and type explorer
Is there a way to show the Power notification icon in the system tray on a desktop?
In "Turn system icons on or off", the drop-down menu beside Power is grayed out and set to off. After a google search, I found a registry tweak wherein I'm supposed to delete some registry keys that hide notification icons, but these registry keys don't exist.
Keep in mind that I'm on a desktop, which might be why it is disabled. I don't have a UPS so there is no battery to monitor, but I'd like to be able to switch power plans quickly. I might just have to stick with a desktop shortcut.
I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.
