View 1 RepliesI have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have two dell computers. Before, I used to be able to go to craigslist, etc and click on the link and it open a blank email. Now, the links don't open. I checked and still have windows live essentials. I tried to make windows live mail my default in the programs area, but even thou I clicked on 'ok' at end, it won't stay there. I have google chrome as my email too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed appropriate permissions and copied the windows mail folder from vista to Windows 7. It worked great and I thought all was well till I got an email with an attachment .eml. The error was the classic "windows cannot open this file.. . no program is associated" etc., message. I saved the .eml attachment to desktop, created the association to winmail.exe, and double clicked it. It opened winmail, in the same manner as though I had just clicked the short cut to winmail.exe. Without opening the .eml attachment.
I've also replaced Windows 7's msoe.dll with Vista's, again to no avail.
Also as I'm searching around, I'm running into "wisperings" of the possible need to keep a copy of Vista functional so that I can download windows mail updates to install in windows 7.
It may just prove to be not worth the hassle. It's a shame. I LIKED O.E., settled for Windows Mail, and am disgusted with Windows Live Mail!!
Whenever I run a game like Team Fortress 2 (in full screen but I'm not sure if it happens in windowed) it will automatically open Windows Live Mail and sit there in the background until I close it. How do I fix this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 in a Dell Inspiron and my live mail on my desktop will no longer open. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my battery went dead while the computer was on two days ago, but I've been able to get into the mail since.Windows Live Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Live Mail message store. Windows Live mail was unable to locate the message database. If you've moved the database files to a new location, click OK to rest the database path to that location. Otherwise, click Cancel to proceed, any existing messages found will be available under Orphaned Accounts (0x00000000.2) If I click ok or cancel, I get: Quote: Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows live message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read the Windows Mail tutorial but I have a problem.
I have used Take Ownership and removed Windows Live Mail 64 and installed Windows Mail 64 as per tutorial.
I have the shortcut on the desktop but when I try to open from there it says:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store. Windows Mail was unable to locate its message database. If you’ve moved the database files to a new location, click okay to reset the database to that location.
I clicked okay and I now click on the hidden folder Widows Mail hoping that will do the trick, it doesn’t!
The next error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store.
The last error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised.
When I try to open a web hyperlink in my Outlook 2003 mail, I get a pop up saying it is "denied due to security settings on this computer." I can open hyperlinks in Hot Mail just fine. I have Windows 7. I have tried to change all my security settings but nothing will allow me to open links in Outlook mail. I started having this problem after I upgraded from XP to Windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne day, for no apparent reason, my Windows Live Mail decided it wouldn't start no matter what I did. After searching this and other resources, and trying the suggested solutions, I finally came up with my own. This is what worked for me, hope it helps someone else:
1. I had a look at the log files, located here: C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalMicrosoftWLSetupLogs They all seemed to start OK but then hang at the same place. The last line in the log file said "Cert :00000900 (06/29/2012 20:12:10.094) Verifying signature of file=[C:Users\__USERNAME__AppDataLocalWindows Live.cacheLOO5rDp5hbmHg5sboPPgQ2mUlhc=]..."
2. So I deleted the whole C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalWindows Live.cache folder. Restarted my PC and tried once more. Live Mail was "Live" again!
I attached a file to an e-mail then sent via Windows Live Mail. It sent fine. Then I tried to delete the file but I get the message. "The action cannot be completed because the file is open in Windows Live Mail."
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm on a network where I keep my files but I'm very aware of whether or not these might be open elsewhere. From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Close file and try again". Except that the file ISN'T open anywhere.
