I have a system with two harddrives, one with Vista and one with Win 7. Vista drive was used to boot the system. Recently Vista drive dies, so I tried to boot from Win 7 drive. Since bootsector isn't there I can't. How do I make the remaining Win 7 drive bootable?
I currently have a disc copy of windows 7 and I am currently running it as my main OS as well. I was wondering just in case my computer decides to have a few issues is there anyway I can make a data partition to store windows 7 or put it on a flash drive so that in the incident of a hardware failure I would be able to go into my bios and boot the recovery partition or boot it from a flash drive allowing me to reinstall the OS.
i resized my my C: partiton and it is my main partiton usin Partiton manger and since then it is not bootable and windows is not loading although i didnt format
I have an HP pavilion dv6 that came with windows 7 64 bit. But I'd like to install Windows 8 on a separate partition. I tested this out on another computer and was able to successfully make a bootable partition and run both windows 7 and windows 8. But when it comes to my dv6 I'm having issues. At first I found online that a dynamic partitions can't install windows and that only 4 partitions max per drive. Did some more searching and found out that I could just delete my hp_tools and recovery partitions after I make a backup. And even though I did that, I still get dynamic partitions. Keeping me from installing any other os.
So I copied / duplicated a copy of my C: into another partition, H: using Partition Master. This has worked successfully, however I would like my laptop to prompt me during boot so that I can choose either of those partitions. How can this be done?(Using Disk Management, I can see that C: is the primary, and H: is a logical partition).
Does anybody know the command to make a partition bootable in Win 7? Fdisk does not work and I want to partition and make it bootable for an older program that runs in DOS

When I installed windows 7 64 Ultimate I set up a multiboot machine from within Vista, I installed windows 7 and Ubuntu on separate hard drives (one HD per OS). The boot menu is on the Vista drive. All drives are SATA.I soon formatted the Ubuntu drive and removed the option to boot to it. My Vista OS no longer boots, it just hangs whilst loading so I want to format that drive now and just use Windows 7. However, I have tried removing all the hard drives apart from the windows 7 one and I find that this will not boot.i would like to make the windows 7 drive bootable but I am not sure how to do this.I have tried removing all the HD's apart from the none booting windows 7 HD and putting in the Windows 7 disk and carrying out the option to repair start up (not sure exactly what this was called) several times but this does not make any difference. It just prompts me to restart the machine and boots again from the DVD.
I tried to install Windows 7 in a wipped HD and drive mad. I prepare a USB bootealbe with Windows 7 install dvd on it and another USD with rescue disk.I did all the steps with diskpart, them bootsec /nt60 c: and alway got "disk boot failure, insert system disk..." The partition is active and the bootsect give me the ok message. The problem is cannot continue to install Windows 7 after the first booting because the system cannot boot from the hd as I wish
I 've Windows 7 basically extracted files. I have tired to put it on a dvd and burn it, burning process was fairly easy I thought I've a bootable DVD now. Then I tired it in a desktop computer and set to boot from CD.To my disappointment it did not boot from CD. But when when normally I put it in DVD and and run from Desktop it works pretty well but then there is another problem it has no options as when the normally windows DVD has when they are bootable. So installation works it simply replaced the older files with new one and a folder is created for older files. What i want is bootable DVD so I can use it to format and Install fresh copy.
I downloaded the WIN 7 64bit .iso file from microsoft and burned it to a dvd. I have a Dell E6400 with a wiped hard drive that I want to load Windows 7 onto. I put the burned dvd into the e6400 and change the boot order to CD/DVD drive but it doesn't run. Is that burned DVD not bootable? I downloaded MagicDisk but I'm clueless, I want to be able to put the DVD into the e6400 and it self load the paid for copy of windows 7.
I installed a second HDD and installed Win 7 onto it and then t/f all data from the original VISTA HDD over.Been running just fine for a few months. Decided to remove the old VISTA drive and now I get "no disk" error when I bootI assume that the boot files reside on the old VISTA drive as I used to get the boot manager screen asking which OS to boot. What is the easiest way to make the Win 7 disk bootable now?
Long version: I have been looking all over forums for the past two days on how to make a custom boot USB or DVD that installs Windows 7 unattended that also installs programs that I want such as Office 2007, Photoshop. I understand that I can use RT Se7en Lite to make a custom booting Windows 7 DVD/USB that removes or adds windows features as well as updates and the service pack. I want to be able to have the bootable USB install my programs as well. I hate installing Windows then manually setting up every program, anti-virus, Google Chrome, uTorrent, etc. This is different than making a specific computer image. I already have images of computers. I want a universal image that has the basic drivers and programs on it that I can install on multiple laptops/PC's if one crashes. Mainly Microsoft Office 2007, Avast anti-virus, malwarebytes, and the latest Windows updates.
Someone want to explain how the hell you make a bootable ISO from these leaked builds?
Everything I try is FUBAR.
Edit: Okay..nevermind..I Frankenstein it and figured it out finally..I just copied the install files onto my USB flash drive and rebooted and set to boot to USB drive.
No need for an ISO
Edit 2: ...Okay..I give up..I get an error during install saying Windows can't install the required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. bla bla
Anyone else getting this with the 32bit leaked copy that just came out?
Maybe it's a stupid question,but I can't figure it out how...?
At this moment,I have Win 7 buil 7000 32 bit installed,and I want install x64 version,so I have downloaded Windows 7 build 7048 x64,but it's not a bootable ISO file.
I managed to make an ISO,but have never did and don't know how to make a bootable ISO file,I have already tried several programs(PowerISO,MagicDisc,ImgBurn,Nero 8),but every time I burn an image on disc,it doesn't work.
If there is someone who is willling to explain me correct way step by step,I'll be really greatful.
I downloaded OFFICIAL Windows 7, but there is no ISO file so how do I make it bootable? There is a setup.exe file but since i have VISTA 32 bit i cannot clean install to W7 64 . So what do I do?
I have a server and domain in my house. I bought a few laptops for my family and I want to install Windows XP Professional on them. For now I'm just focusing on one computer but how would I go about making a .iso file bootable and then putting on a flash drive so I can install it on a computer with no operating system. (I already made the .iso file I just need it to be bootable)
I come with cap in hand and head bowed in shame at this, my first post - after so many months reading the knowledge that so many of you seem to have.
I seek your help if you would please. After downloading at 45k all day what I believed (and still believe to be!) was the iso image of the RC, I (merely?) have the RC content that I need to create a bootable disc.
I have used Bart's BBIE to extract a boot image file from my previous W7_7068 disc and I now have 'image1.bin' at 2k.
But from here? - How and where do I merge this bin file with my W7_RC content? (I'm using 'CDBurnerXP').
Call me a 'noob'or call me a 'knob', either way I'll cop it sweet.
