Detects ATI Instead Of Nvidia Graphic Card
Nov 9, 2009So I installed Windows 7 32bit a couple of days ago and I have tried to install the drivers for my NVIDIA 8600 GTS ever since without success. I downloaded several versions from nvidia and none of them work.
The weird thing is is that according to device manager I've an ATI X1200 installed. I tried uninstalling it and installing nvidia drivers but it still doesn't work.
Im clueless, since I have no experience in solving problems with my graphic card. So, if anybody got some tips and things for me to try, I'd be grateful.

Sep 15, 2009i have a MSI notebook with Nvidia Geforce 8400M G.
i recently installed windows 7 professional (final version, not RC or beta), and discovered a serious problem: it doesn't recognize my Graphic card. instead it claims i have a "Standard VGA graphic adapter" (in dxdiag, device manager etc.). because of that i cant download any Nvidia drivers, cause the setup always says "Nvidia couldn't find a driver compatible with your hardware". that's, again, because windows 7 doesn't recognize my card.
i tried also uninstalling the VGA adapter from device manager, but after restarting it just installing it again.
is there anything i can do? should i wait for windows updates to come and fix my problem? i really don't want to install windows again. is my card not supported, is my Computer not supported?

Nov 9, 2009I am using a Sony vaio laptop VGN-SZ75GN. I recently upgraded my windows vista business 32-bit to a windows 7 ulitmate 64-bit using a clean installation.
I have a external graphic card which is NVIDIA� GeForce� 8400M GS notebook graphics processing unit(GPU) (SPEED MODE) / Intel� Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (STAMINA MODE). After installing Windows 7, it couldn't detect the graphic card. This was done by looking at the device manager saying that it only detected a standard VGA Graphic Adapter. I tried to check for updates, but it said that the standard VGA Graphic Adapter was the best driver software. I looked around the forum like a headless chicken and couldn't find a solution for my laptop.
Can anyone find a solution for my problem?

Dec 13, 2011I have sent in my computer to get repaired and got it back yestersay. Since then i've been trying to get it to work properly again.I can't play any of the games I used to play before I sent it in to get repaired (for example, Battlefield 3). I can start dota2 but it looks pretty messed up. My computer shows me that I have an nvidia geforce 7025 nforce 630a graphic card.Although it says in the computer description that it SHOULD have a AMD HD 6870 1GB GDDR 5. My screen isn't plugged in the graphic card, since it doesn't recieve anything from there. It is plugged directly to the motherboard.So, from what I understand the nvidia card is the integrated graphic card or am I totally wrong?Anyway, the device manager can only find the nvidia card and I cannot run any game smoothly on this computer.Before I realized this possibility I've tried to download newer drivers for the nvidia card, but it didn't help.

NVidia Geforce FX5600 XT
I went to Nvidia's website in order to download the drivers for my graphics card but there are no drivers available for Windows 7 designed to my card. I've downloaded the latest drivers there (Forceware 96.85, compatible with Vista) and they work. However there are two problems. The first is that I notice some small delays when I'm working normally with the computer, using Aero. The second one is that I can't access nVidia's app that manages the card's options.

Dec 5, 2009I am using NVidia GeForce FX 5500 256 MB RAM on my home PC. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate RC and everything worked smoothly including Aero to the highest quality where drivers were from Windows Update. Now, I got licensed Windows 7 Professional. When I update the driver from Windows Update everything works just fine until I shut down the PC and turn it on again. When I do that after OS finishes loading, screen suddenly goes blank. After like 2 minutes, system gives a blue screen and restarts. This time Windows successfully makes it to desktop saying that Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown. When the report is prepared it says something went wrong with the video card drivers. The same thing happens even if I install the latest drivers for Vista directly from nVIDIA website as there is no Windows 7 drivers for FX 5500.

Jan 19, 2012I'm not sure if this belongs in Drivers or here, but I'm having an issue with the video drivers on my laptop. It's an HP Compaq Presario V6000 series,v6205 according to the limited tech support I received. The laptop was purchased in '06 and originally ran Windows Vista, however I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit a couple of days ago, and have had an issue finding compatible drivers, namely a driver for my nVidia graphics card. HP's website has the drivers for XP and Vista, but want to charge me to get 7 compatible drivers (59.99 for a one-time use). I've read on other forums that it is possible to take the non-manufacturer drivers and modify the .INF files to work, but I'm inexperienced with that sort of stuff. The card is an nVidia GeForce 6150. If there are any other details I've left out, I'd be happy to add them. EDIT: In the event that I can't secure the proper drivers, does anyone know if Linux is an option for such a machine? Or would the same driver issues be present?

Should I have installed the nforce series drivers (the driver package that runs the entire motherboard) that are months older because my graphics are integrated or should I stick with the latest 8 series drivers?

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX Series (yes its old as hell) and ive read that installing the vista or xp drivers wont work regardless. what should I do? does anyone know if i can buy a better graphics card for my laptop?
my friend told me HP laptops are made customized for the specific graphics card and i would have to buy another laptop. i am not down to spend 2000 bones on a new laptop with everything working with windows 7 on this current one with the only flaw an outdated driver!!! Is there some other downloadable updates I can find to get my card working?
also, as some people mentioned before, i cannot get the brightness slider to show up in my power settings options. do you think it has something to do with the outdated graphics card i have? So far i havent updated it with any drivers. I really dont want to buy a new laptop...and i also dont want to waste all the money i spent on video games if i cant play them without a driver anymore..

Oct 13, 2009I recently bought an Nvidia 7200 GS graphics card for my computer, but it is causing problems. I plugged in the card and booted up, and it somehow found a driver for it (maybe on the driver cd I had inserted). I then enjoyed 20 minutes of dual monitors, but then I had to restart the computer.
Ever since, Windows 7 will not load. It displayed the startup animation, then promptly froze. I unplugged the card, and it booted up fine, and I downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site.
However, I cannot install them, because the it could not find any hardware for the drivers! How can I install the drivers in Windows 7, if I cannot start Windows with the card installed?
I am currently using Vista that I have installed on another hard drive. However, I don't know if even this will boot up again if the card is plugged in.
Sound Drivers Stop Working When NVidia Card Inserted
Jul 9, 2012I am using HP DC 5850 system and I currently inserted nvidia gforce gt520 the sound driver I uses works perfectly when there is no nvidia card in the system but as I insert the card the sound driver stops working and it works only through hdmi and there is only single icon of HDMI in my pc sound control menu. I tried every sound driver but no one works to give me sound through the speakers.
