Getting STOP 0x0000007B When Starting Windows 7
Dec 15, 2012
Recently, I've been getting a lot of BSODs and I've been trying to find what may cause them. I used the Device Manager and disabled a couple of devices. I've probably disabled a necessary device, and now when I'm booting my PC, it's getting to the point when it shows the Windows 7 logo, and then restarts, and so it gets into an endless restart loop.I then pressed F8 to try get into Safe Mode, but Safe Mode is not working as well. So I then pressed F8 when starting Windows again and chose "Disable automatic restart on system failure" to see what error code is being thrown. It shows the following: Code: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (...) Unfortunately I don't think I can get dump file because Windows is not working at all, but I have a very good assumption that I disabled a critical device in the Device Manager. Here is the list of devices that I've disabled: Code: Acronis Backup Archive Explorer Floppy disk drive (don't have any floppy disk drive)Standard floppy disk controller (same thing as above)High Definition Audio Device PCI bus (*I think the problem is here and is related to the on-board graphics card. I think It's an Intel graphics or something like this.) My question is: is there any way to somehow enable this PCI bus device from anywhere?

I have Windows 7 Home, 64bit, 4 G of RAM, GTX 285, Intel Core 2 Quad I had recently installed trial version of Kapersky . I had an earlier message after trying to restart and a black screen with the message bad image sector or something like that. It started several times before. Now it will not start and I had to disable the automatic startup and I got the above messege. I cannot do the system restore because it just won't and I hear Kapersky sometimes prevents this. No detecable disk errors have been noted but it still will not even boot into safe mode. This process just keeps repeating and nothing seems to be helping. I had this message before when my screen flickered before but the computer kept running. It has restarted automatically before also but with no problems. My system will also, not restore to another check point. I am ready to reinstall windows.

I needed to reinstall windows on my laptop, but I had to recover some files from the hard drive, so I took the hard drive out and connected it to my desktop PC. I installed the windows on the hard drive using my desktop PC too, because the laptops DVD ROM doesn't work anymore. I successfully installed windows on it, everything worked. I put the hard drive back in the laptop, booted the laptop and it popped up a BSOD saying:Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.Technical information:***STOP 0x00000073(OXFC8D3640), 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000

I have a decent PC (i7 2600, 16gb ram, SSD + 2HDDs, etc). I've been using it for about a year.Since it's a work machine, in the last few weeks, I've been using VMware on it to use other experimental software, with no problems.Today, I tried to create a new VM and the software asked me to update it to a new version. I did it, create new VM and rebooted to change a config in the Bios (about virtualization). But when I tried to boot again, surprise: BSOD.
STOP: 0x0000007b, (0xFFFFF880009a9928, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)
When I got back to the BIOS, I found the boot order to be different. I fixed it but no good. I disconnected the other HDDs and all I got was a different boot error message. I plugged the SSD in another machine and it worked fine?

How can I stop the wrong operating system from starting?, downloading the software from softpedia. When I opened it, there was immediately an option to alter the startup settings so I deleted vista and set windows 7 to default. Now, when I turn on thhe put, it automatically tries and fails to start vista, with no option to start 7 (meaning I can't use my computer). I've scoured the bios for something to do but can't find anything. Also, I've tried putting in the disc I used to install with, but the same messages come up, even when I say boot from CD and not the HDD!

Had to perform Reinstall, reinstall completed when Restarting after reinstall, it will not boot, it gives me Microsoft loading bar then BOOM cuts rightout.. I attempted another reinstall same thing.. So I disabled automatic restart and this is the exact error: BSOD: 0x0000007b (0x80786B58, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I saw in another forum possible registry adjustment could cure it however, it would require for me to take SSD out, which I really would like to avoid if possible, not an easy job for me with this smaller netbook.... I also tried changing SATA Drive from AHCI to ATA, and vice versa, no luck.. Stuck.

I recently installed poweriso and magicdisc on my computer then I rebooted but windows started to hang at shutdown so I just forced a shutdown, now windows is hanging up upon restart and the same happens for safe mode. I'm thinking the problem might be magicdisc cause it said drivers were not found and safe mode was hanging around the loading drivers part or that I made a virtual drive.
Also I'm attempting to do a system repair via windows disc
Edit: Windows repair just finished and the problem signature was
Problem event name: startuprepairoffline
Problem signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385

I have a laptop and I cannot get it to start. When I go into start-up mode (Esc key at start-up) I have two options:
Start-up Repair (Recommend)
Normal Start-up
When I do Normal Start-up, it lockes up on the Windows Screen. When I do Start-up Repair it locks up on a black screen.I don't have the back-up discs that were created for this specific computer at the moment (they are at another location at the moment). However I do have Windows 7 upgrade discs here from another computer.

It started with me interrupting a startup forcefully (which I now regret badly), then "i restarted it, but it gave me the information;"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause". I was given the option to either 'Launch startup repair' or 'Start windows normally'...If I select 'Launch startup repair', it leads me to a blank screen with a cursor then stays there until forever, if i select 'Start windows normally', it leads me to the Microsoft logo/'Starting windows' and just stays there for a while until it restarts." However, after the microsoft logo, I can see the screen changing for a split second, I can't see what it shows clearly a blue screen?

I installed Windows 7 (x64)/(x86) on my PC a while back without any problems at all. Now lately, when I start the computer up for the first time, it just wont start. Turn my monitor on and it says "No signal". I can only get the computer to boot up when i do several restart button pushes,So I figured it might be the video card drivers that are problematic and I installed the newest ones that I found from the official site(my graphics card is an XFX 9800GT). It didn't help, maybe relieved the problem a bit but I haven't really noticed it. I've opened the computer case up and tryed to push the Graphics card into the PCi slot further,is this a hardware or a software problem? :S I tryed searching for fixes for this but I got bored of searching too fast so I made this thread I'd like to get a quick fix, it's taking me 5-15 minutes to start up the computer every time, it's bad when I might be in a hurry someday

Every time I start my computer it scans the hard drive before starting and takes 10-20 minutes, this has happened since it crashed yesterday, I think it is a problem with missing files.
How do I fix the files that cause the problem and cause it to need to do a scan?
I have scanned using the scan before startup and the windows scan (the one that requires restart)

if I try to boot it normally it gets blue screen and dies. The same thing happends if I use fail safe. (crashed at crcdisk)So I thought idd reinstall it. However when i boot up from my windows cd, I only get the 2 possibilities to "setup and recovery". No matter which of those I choose it goes to "loading files" and then to "starting windows".I've reinstalled quite a few computers, with xp and windows 7, and I've never had any trouble doing so. So i thought idd try to take out the hdd manually, but I realised I dont have the cables to connect it to my other pc, and clean the hdd that way.

I had just put this build together and occasionally when I boot up the computer, it would freeze at "Starting Windows" screen and will not go anywhere else until I hard shutdown the computer and boot it back up and hope it doesn't get stuck again.I reinstalled Windows 7 thinking it's the new SSD I bought but the problem still occurs, I also ran CHKDSK again and no errors have shown up.I haven't ran a memory test program yet to check my RAM but I don't think that is the issue since I do not get BSOD of any kind.I also have another problem that rarely occurs and only happens when watching you tube videos, the screen completely friezes and artifacts show up as if the video card is broken but I never have such problems while playing video games such as BF3 and Starcraft II.Anyhow, I have searched Tomshardware and the web but still cannot find a solution to this and I hope you guys can help me find what the problem is.I'm beginning to question my RAM, Motherboard, or SSD at this moment.

When I boot up Windows 7 it gets to the "Starting Windows" screen which includes the Windows Logo with some animation. Once there it just hangs for about 5 minutes, then starts normally.I have Home Premium, 64 Bit, Dell XPS, Intel i7, 6BG of memory. I have several peripherals connected directly to it: Display, USB External Drive, Webcam, Bluetooth adapter.I tested booting in Safe Mode and it was very fast with no delay.I don't restart Windows 7 often so not 100% sure of when this really began. After the install booting up was very very fast. So this happened over the last month or so.The only hardware item I would mention is a Realtek card/usb reader which is built in to my unit as part of it. After Win 7 install it did not work at all and it took quite a while including working with Dell to finally track down the appropriate drivers. Now the unit works fine but I believe the problem began around that incident.Prior to uninstall or disabling the item I just wanted to check and see if this problem has been seen and make sure I am not going to do something to simply create a new problem. Also, since it was so difficult to finally get this Card Reader up and running I am concerned about just uninstalling it.

I've got a: Presario CQ62 notebook pc with a AMD Athlon(tm) II P320 Dual Core processor, and I can't get past the start up screen with the "starting windows" animation. It will show part of the animation then simply hang. I have a very bad battery but am keeping the computer plugged in. When I attempt a system recovery it says: "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart" I've tried this many times and I get the same message each time. Beyond that I have no idea what to try.
