Windows Media Center And WML Won't Run Videos
Dec 27, 2012All of a sudden windows media player and center won't play any videos other than mp4s. Could it be related to me installing a new amd driver? The files run good in real player but they look better in windows media player. When I try to open videos with it it will pop up then give the message this program has stopped working. I tried resetting it but it did not work.

Media Center Deleted All Folders For Pictures / Videos And Music
Aug 25, 2011On Windows 7 I installed the xbox 360 extender using Media Center, all my media files show up, but after exiting the extender, all my media files do not show anymore on their default windows folders for Pictures, Videos, and Music. Re-enter Media Center, and I am able to see all my media files, but unable to reach them through my PC, even after exiting again, and using my PC normally.
1- Advance searched my files to no avail, restored WMP library to no avail, restarted several times to no avail.
2- Used old Vista tricks in regedit to no avail, files still don't show up, they only do when I start the extender, and I see them through the extender only.
3- Restored to previous point in history on Windows to no avail.
4- Disabled WMP and WMC in Windows services and features, and re-enabled them, to no avail.
Media Center For Xbox 360- Videos Freeze Then Play Continuous?
Nov 25, 2012I have windows 7 on my computer, I got on my xbox 360 and setup the windows media center app on it about 4 monthes ago. I didn't have many problems at first for about a month. I always used it for movies and videos. The problems started slow at first a video might lag a little bit and buffer a couple of times, but I would restart my xbox 360 and it seemed to fix the problem until the next time. Now I have gotten to the point where everytime I exit windows media center or turn off my computer or xbox, I literally have to uninstall the xbox extender everytime and reinstall just to watch movies and videos, because if I don't, I will have an error saying the xbox can't find my pc and when I get on my pc wmc and go to the extender page it shows the xbox but says and don't guote me dont know for sure but it says something like xbox available but not ready or something like that. It will also have the yellow yield sign looking deal. Anyways when I uninstall and resetup wmc for the xbox it will work again only when I go to watch my videos in the videos section it lags real bad and during the video it wont say buffering but it acts like it is.

Dec 20, 2011I have just built a new machine i5 4gb 2 x 3tb WD ASUS p8z68 motherboard.. System works beautifully.. very nice. However, I have just installed a clean activated real copy of windows 7 home premium and when I enter the menus of Media Center. Pictures, Videos the blue "thinking" ring scrolls for 10 seconds and then enters the next menu with the Folder being displayed. In the music section, I have 2 test folders in there and it waits for 8 seconds after you press play a song! Recorded tv and guide work great. Indexing was also completed.

Feb 14, 2011So when I try to watch recorded TV programs or watch videos. I get an error what says: Video error files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Center and/or restart the computer. I have restart both. Not work. I have read several forums and update drivers and uninstall drivers and do everything what there has been. But nothing. I have Windows 7 (32-bit), Ati Radeon HD 5670 1gb video card, 4000gb ram, AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.1 ghz (maybe) 2 CPU's. Its been working before and im not do any big changes to my computer. Only thing what i do is that I installed Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas.

Mar 9, 2011Within the last couple days, Media Center/Recorded TV has started displaying a message "WMC could not find any shared libraries on your network or there is no content in those libraries."The directory it uses to record is "C:UsersPublicRecorded TV" and I can see prior recordings and new recordings in this directory. If I go into "Tasks" and select this directory as a library it shows as already selected and tells me no changes will be made to my libraries list on selecting "finish".I can click on one of the recorded program files in file manager and it will launch WMC and play just fine - the recorded programs just don't show up in the WMC/Recorded TV where they should.

Nov 18, 2011I have a problem getting Media Center to display my Photos showing the individual photos contents of each folder.I am running Windows 7 HP 64 bit with all updates. My MEDIA (movies, music & photos) are on a separate hdd (M). Each of the media formats has it's own folder on the M drive, Movies, Music & Photos. I have no problem with the movies or the music. However, when I choose "pictures" in Windows Media Center only the individual photos folders are shown....no photos are shown in these folders. I see the individual folders but no contents. I have set up "Libraries" on the C: drive; Music, Video & Photos. When I click on photos in the "Libraries" all the photos folders are show each with it's own photos. I have "Shared" these libraries as well as each folder on the Media drive M. The format of the individual photos is jpg. I have run SFC/Scannow.

Jul 25, 2011I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.

Jan 15, 2009I have checked two seperate DVD movies and they stop after the splash screens, FBI warning and Corporate logos, and never make it to the DVD menu.
This DVD player is an external player and I have no problem with playback on my Dual boot with Vista Home Premium.

Jul 2, 2012I recently tried to use windows media center to connect to my xbox. I've had my hp laptop for over 2 years now and may have never even used WMC. But whenever I try to launch it, the blue wheel next to the mouse pops up for a second and then nothing. Nothing happens at all.
I've tried going to programs and features and turning off both WMC and WMP, restarting, and then re-enabling them. This has done nothing. I've even gone into Windowsehome and deleted all the files in it and did the disable/enable thing (I did, of course, make a backup of the folder). I looked through the programs and features themselves, hoping to find WMC so I could see if there was a repair option, but it doesn't show up. How can I make WMC work?
Windows Media Center Crashed?
Nov 8, 2012I started watching an OTA recording with WMC7 and about 2 minutes into it WMC7 stopped. A message came up saying it stopped & had options to restart WMC or go online (which appeared to send info to MS) and a 3rd option I don't recall. I just restarted & everything worked just fine.
I looked at event logs & found this. I did a search for that ntdll.dll but could not find a definitive answer to what caused the problem. The typical comments were to reboot or reinstall software. Is there anything from this listing that tells or hints at what caused WMC to stop?

Dec 23, 2012I can't open any programs because of windows media center. I tried to access the "default program" which can be found on the control panel but still the WMC pops out and also the regedit in the start-up menu still WMC pops out. All my app icons are WMC. If i open it WMC will pop out. Lastly, I tried to make a system restore but it didn't work because WMC pops out again.
