View 0 Replies View RelatedI have hundreds and hundreds of fonts I have added to my Windows 7 OS 64 system font folder but it is really slowing things down. I tried 'restore default font settings' in the system fonts folder but the same fonts remain? How to I take it back to just the original fonts that came with Windows 7?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning windows 7 home premium. The other day I was messing around with printer settings trying to enlarge what I was printing. Now my browser experience has taking a turn for the worse. My font seems out of whack from web page to web page. Giant bold headers on some and overlapping links on others. I am constantly having to use CTRL -or+ to adjust it depending on what I am looking at. Not sure if I accidentally changed a setting that affects my everyday browsing while I was messing with the printer settings.

But I would prefer to have just 'SED'. Any way to do this automatically?
I think it might matter that I do not hide extensions ['Hide extensions for known files' (Option in Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View)].
For some reason Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit) has recently stopped displaying Unicode characters correctly. I know its a Windows issue, not specific to a certain program, because the problem appears on Asian characters and symbols like the stars in my song ratings across various programs like foobar2000, Mp3Tag, and iTunes. I don't think they work anywhere; I just happen to notice their absences (replaced by ugly square placeholders) in my media-related programs. One interesting thing is that restoring my default font settings via Control Panel appears to fix the problem every other time I restart (ie, I might be able to get Unicode working correctly if I always restore the default font settings before restarting or rebooting my PC - but that is heinously annoying).
The only possible cause I can think of is that I have had some programs to modify the Windows UI such as GDI++ to make the fonts Mac-like (decided ClearType was better rather quickly :P) and pieces of Stardock's suite including programs like WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, etc. I somewhat recently uninstalled all of them, but I didn't notice the problem right away, so I am not sure if they have anything to do with it.
I did a system restore on my Win 7 Pro system. Now all of my desktop shortcuts quit working. Plus, if I create a new shortcut, it too doesnt work.

View 0 Replies View RelatedFor all of my folders, I use the detailed view in Explorer, but for one specific folder I sometimes want to use tiled view. I mean I mostly want to use detailed view, but on some specific occasions I need to use tiled view for that folder.possible is to create a shortcut (e.g. from my Desktop) to that folder, in such a way that the shortcut properties specify which view should be used when the folder is opened using that particular shortcut.Alternatively, is there a way that a folder can be launched with certain view settings, using e.g. a script or command-line method?

Recently though, I cannot open the Website icon from the desktop and a window message display: "Unable to open this internet shortcut. The protocol "http" does not have a registered program".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a microsoft keyboard with multimedia keys. I have assigned one of the multimedia keys to the Instant Viewer feature from Intellitype Pro. I like this feature and think it would be more useful to put it on the mouse button but I have searched and cannot find any .exe for the Instant Viewer to create a program shortcut. I was thinking I could get around this by creating a shortcut to the multimedia key instead and then assigning that shortcut to the mouse. This is not the same as pressing Alt + Tab or Ctrl + Alt + Tab. The Intellitype Instant viewer covers the whole screen when activated while Alt + Tab just gives you a thin horizontal strip in the middle.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm needing to create a shortcut, but the context menu that normally lists 'new shortcut' is missing. If it were just a shorcut to an exe or something I would just copy and past link, but I'm needing to create a shortcut for 'RunDll32 DwmApi #105'. But I can't seem to do that. I haven't made any changes to my system, so there should be no problems.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to create a custom shortcut and by custom I don't mean the way you usually create shortcuts at, but how you create it from scratch. Like open notepad and write down a script to make it work like an ordinary shortcut. The reason I want to do this is because I have a large collection of music and for the moment I have to open, first my music directory then choose the artist directory then the album directory and finally the playlist file. The way I want it is instead of getting into the album directory I would just have a shortcut in the artist directory that will open the playlist and start the music. And I would even want to have a custom icon on the shortcut. Now you will probably say just create a shortcut like you would normally do and then change the icon. DONE!No the thing is that when I re-install my computer or if I get a new disc with new drive letters or just move my whole music directory the shortcuts will be corrupted cause windows own created shortcuts has the complete file path like "D:DokumentEgna SkivorDeadmau5For Lack Of A Better Name0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u". The way I want it is just "For Lack Of A Better Name0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u"
