Synaptics Touchpad Enhanced Features With Win 7 RC
After upgrading from Windows 7 beta to Windows 7 RC I am finding the enhanced features of Synaptics Touchpad disabled, not available, simply not there. After each and every new laptop purchase and each return to zero installation the first feature I routinely engage is Tap and Drag, available only under the Enhanced features settings. I am so finicky about this feature I went straight for it on my company issue in the competitor's UltraNav. I am operating a Toshiba Satellite which was bundled with Vista Home edition. Enhanced features were operable there. I performed an upgrade to Windows 7 beta (OS overwrite, not fresh install) for the testing. Enhanced features were operable there. Once I moved to 7 RC no enhanced features can be found under Settings. I have reviewed the Synaptics Consumer tips page. The symptom they describe that most closely resembles my problem has two suggestions. The first did not work and the second was not valid. The first suggestion resulted in simply uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the latest driver. No joy. I downloaded the current drivers from the Toshiba support site relevant to this model and did the uninstall/install thing. No joy. I have experimented with much older versions of the drivers for Vista from CNET's Download site. No joy. I have installed both 32 and 64 bit versions of 7 RC. Still no joy. I uncovered a site that appears to have drivers newer than the Synaptics site. After downloading and carefully scanning with anti-virus still no joy. I am currently back on 10.1.8.0. I have attempted to remove the device and rescanning to reinstall the device. For giggles I even tried loading old XP drivers only to end up at the same GUI...general settings, no enhancements. Now that you know I'm not afraid of a little work I would entertain any suggestions. I got a sinking feeling when I saw the big question mark on the Microsoft's compatibility page. Tough it out for a while and hope for a change in status?

Win 7 Stability Is Enhanced When It Is Upgraded From Vista
I have three machines in my house running Seven. However I will focus on two. 1.) MSI Mobo, AMD 4200+, 2GB RAM, etc. (Look in my stats for the desktop) 2.) HP 6735s, AMD Turion X2, 2.5GB RAM, 256MB Dedicated Radeon HD 3200. The MSI ran Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I had everything I wanted on there so I didn't want to do a clean install. Once the Seven upgrade finished, it was fantastic. The only program that I already had that didn't work was Daemon Tools. However AIM still worked, and you can't install AIM from Windows Seven. Now on my laptop, it came with Vista, but I wanted Seven. So I did a clean install, because I didn't want all that HP garbage that comes with them. Now I have an issue with sleep. When my PC goes to sleep, and I wake it back up, it runs ok, but then when I go through certain tasks it hangs. Sometimes if I awake it with my wireless off, it won't come back on, it won't recognize plugged in add ons, and when I go file searching it hangs, like if indexing is messed up. I am considering, rolling back, getting Vista all the way to SP1, downloading AIM, and whatever else I need, and just upgrading it like I did my PC. Also, the third PC which is a Dell does not perform as well as it should, but does fine in Vista. I am not a Windows expert, but from deduction, I can conclude that Windows Seven stability is greatly enhanced when it is upgraded from Windows Vista.

USB Driver Error - USB Ports Do Not Work
I'm not sure if any other specs needed to solve this problem. I upgraded from vista 32bit to windows seven 32bit a few days ago, ever sense i have upgraded i have never been able to use any usb ports. i have went into the device manager and uninstalled and reinstalled the usb port drivers, they will start to work for about 30 seconds then will fail. This is the error in the properties under usb port: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) I have installed my motherboards new drivers and bios for windows 7. also have updated windows and installed all major updates. I have been working on fixing this error for days now and i have had no success.

USB Driver Explosion
I am running Windows 7 x64 build 7600 on a Compaq laptop. I am having a specific problem with external devices. When I go to burn a DVD, whether the data rests on an external device or elsewhere, I start getting very high DPCs (split between interrupts and DPCs 50/50 CPU usage). It basically causes the computer to become completely non-responsive and I have to hard reboot. I do not get this kind of error under any circumstances besides burning or R/W to USB devices. I have tried running stack traces but its a little difficult when the CPU is maxed out. I ONLY get this particular crippling effect when burning or occassionally when I access external USB devices. This only happens in Windows 7!! Is it possible to use the USB driver from Server 2008? Has anyone with a fix? Could I switch files from another OS?

No Driver For USB-UIRT
Not sure if this is a real problem or not, but Windows 7 installed all my other hardware devices so smoothly that this stood out. My USB-UIRT is basically a IR transmitter/receiver that can be used to control IR devices (TVs, DVD, cable box...). Windows 7 was unable to find a driver for it, but I used the old driver that I had for XP and it worked perfectly.

USB Driver Can Not Be Installed
I am running a Windows 7 RC 64 bit system. I would like to run Bang & Olufsen (B&O) BeoPort with a B&O PCLink 2 on this machine. B&O does not provide an 64 bit USB driver. They provide only 32 bit version fro XP and Vista. My idea was, I run Virtual XP and run the BeoPort on this virtual system. Installing BeoPort software works until the USB drivers for the PCLink 2 should be installed. There it stops and nothing else happens. Why does the same problem occur under virtual XP as it would be if I want to install the BeoPort on the 64 System? What can I do to get the BeoPort software and the PCLink System run.

USB Virtualization Driver
While trying to get an external HD (SATA-to-USB) to be recognized again after it disappeared, I read a suggestion to uninstall the USB drivers. After a reboot they were to reinstall automatically. Well, I also uninstalled the USB Virtualization driver (since it said USB...) and it did not reinstall. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the XP Compatibility Mode, and tried to do the same with Virtual Machine, but it's an update and not a program. I read on a thread here that I can remove it and reapply it. Would that solve my problem? (I'm trying to use a USB scanner and when I try to attach the USB with the tab in XP Mode I get an error that the USB Virtualization Driver is missing.)

Driver For USB VoIP Phoneset
I have a VoIP phone connected through USB. It worked fine under winXP32, but win7x64 won't recognize it. The problem is that the manufacturer (Premier) doesn't even have a website, because it's probably some cheap sub-brand or something. Eitherway, I can't find suitable drivers! Is there a multi-device driver for usb handsets or something, or should i throw the thing in the trash and get a newer one (which ofcourse I don't want to do)?

As you plug it in, nothing happens because windows doesn't recognize it at all as a modem. The driver doesnt work. I supose It will need a brand new driver in order to work. So Microsoft windows 7 developers, wake up and begin to work on a solution. This kind of modems are getting more and more used.

BEHRINGER USB ASIO Driver
It's shame that the world is changing and you do not make any step forward, the whole world knew that Windows 7 is on the way, but BEHRINGER team did not found the time to publish drivers for their products running on Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit). Worse, for them as there is no 64 bit versions of OS ( i found that there i no Vista 64 bit driver for their product). So, if any of you are trying to make your Behringer hardware work on Windows 7 - read answer I got from Behringer online support: Customer (Milos Jelenkovic)17/11/2009 06.51 AM yesterday i have installed my new OS - Windows 7, but i seems that USB audio interface cannot be installed. It says error 0x0006. I have turn off windows automatic driver install, thought it may help (because it installs it own drivers for USB Audio Interface), but still no help. What should i do? Have I t wait for Windows 7 drivers? Auto-Response17/11/2009 06.51 AM *****Suggested Solutions Have Been Displayed To Customer***** Response (Eddie Rasguido)17/11/2009 02.34 PM Windows 7 drivers are currently under development. Please check our website in the near future for announcement and release date. So, everyone that have same problem as me should fall into hibernation while Behringer is writeing drivers for Windows 7 (32 bit & 64 bit version!), those with XP or Vista 64 bit should buy some other hardware by some other manufacturer.
