Creative X-Fi Titanium
Nov 12, 2009
Some thing crazy happened after I installed the X-Fi soundcard. I disabled the onboard sound and install the sound card. When win 7 booted the windows generic drivers were installed. I tried out my music and all I had was the windows system sounds, when I tried to play an MP3 windows media player got a error and could not play the file. VLC would play it but no sound was heard. When I load the new 64 bit creative drivers I got no sound from anything. I finally went back to the onboard sound and pulled the card out. Has anyone experienced this problem?

I just installed Windows 7, and I'm loving it so far. However, I am having a slight issue with my Creative X-Fi Titanium (Newegg.com - Creative 70SB088000004 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express 1x Interface PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Sound Cards
My Headset: Newegg.com - Creative FATAL1TY 3.5mm gold-plated Circumaural Gaming Headset
My Problem:
First, my Line-in connection doesn't seem to work. When I open up the 'Recording Devices' tab under the Sound dialog, and breath into my mic or make noise, none of the volume bars go up. I've already checked and my headset is in fact plugged into the correct port. Playback is working fine. The current drivers installed via a Windows Update are '6.0.1.1323' published on '7/15/2009'.
Under the 'FlexiJack' option under my Audio Control Panel from Creative, I've been able to select the 'Microphone' Radio Button and get my mic to work. Unfortunately, doing this seems to get rid of the 'What U Hear' feature.
Even though I can get my mic to work, I'd like to find a way to keep the 'What U Hear' feature. Are my drivers the problem? Could my headset be damaged? The latter seems unlikely since I can get my mic working through the 'Audio Control Panel' from Creative.

Ok so I tried installing drivers from the disk that came with my X-Fi Titanium and everything installed fine, everything's working fine, except for the fact that it's all running in 32 bit UAC virtualization. Does this effect anything? How do I get it running at 64 bit?
I also noticed on the other thread for the Windows 7 X-Fi drivers that the X-Fi Titanium (all versions) are missing from the list of supported drivers, is this just an omission or do those drivers not work with the Titanium?

I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

I am running Win 7 RC 7100 x64 and will be installing Win 7 Pro in a couple weeks. I have a Creative X-fi PCI card. It's the OEM card from Ailenware. (got it @ Micro Center for $10) Ailenware's site only has a Vista x64 driver which will not install on Win 7. The driver from MS update is installed and I do have audio, however the Creative control panel will not work. When I try to start it, it says "no compatible device found" and then closes. Everything works great when I use Vista x64 but I can't seem to get it right on 7.
I tried downloading the driver in the sticky but when I click download it sends me to another page. Anyone know how I can force the Ailenware driver to install or maybe another link to dl the driver in sticky? Or maybe a way to get the Control panel to recognize the device. I really only want the control panel for loudness equalization. Many of my MP3s have different degrees of loudness. Often, when it shuffles to a new song, the volume goes from decent to ear bleeding level and sometimes drops to barely audible.

I have problems with my soundcard, all drivers seem to install correctly, both from original vista disk, and from the latest 2.18.0010beta drivers from creative. however i get problems with playback, crackles through the speakers, faint sounds, sound cutting out etc etc. doesn't sound great through 5.1 ...
does anyone have this card with or without the above problems on windows 7?

So my creative sound drivers (newest from the website) only seem to be running at 32 bit. Is this going to affect sound quality or cause problems at all? Is there any way to get them working at 64 bit? Will this affect performance in games? I can't use the beta drivers that are posted because the X-Fi Titanium isn't listed there (unless there was an omission).

I've been a long time M-Audio Revolution user - but discovered recently that what I thought was surround all these years was matrixed surround (Stupid me ). Anyway, I looked at a billion sound cards (A lot anyway) and didn't find any that sounded perfect. But gaming is a priority and so is surround support via an external receiver, so I thought I'd give this Creative a shot despire the horrible rep because of it's local availability (easy return) and it does everything I need (DTS Connect and DDL encoding). People also hyped up EAX to some astronmical level, and after seeing some examples on the Creative site I thought it would be impressive. So I popped in BF2, a game that supports EAX 5.0 - set all in-game and external settings for EAX on and at normal levels...nothing. The guns sound identical if I shoot them in a small room or of I shoot them in a large open field.I tried new drivers (Was very nervous to do so, but it didn't break anything - everything works good on my Win 7 64-bit PC so far *fingers crossed*) and that didn't do it, adjusted settings (It was on the Game mode already), I tried turning it on and off and comparing - I can't hear anything! I am using the encoder to get DTS Digital out of my Logitech Z-5500 speakers - but does this somehow mess up EAX? Do I need to run something first like ALchemy to make EAX work? I thought it was as easy as click the box and start gaming...but silly me it isn't. I now know EAX is a largely dead technology, but it irks me highly that it isn't working properly on the games that support it - I'd really like to sample it first hand but either it makes a miniscule difference or it's not on..

my Windows 7 x64 (7100) found after a clean install new optional updates which included drivers for my soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio. I also used the drivers I got with the cd and installed them on my system. Everything is working now except a few options. I get sound in 5.1, but when I select options like X-Fi Crystallizer, X-Fi CMSS-3D or just change the volume bars (FL, FR, RL, etc) nothing happens!
Before I installed Windows7 x64 I was using Windows XP Pro x86 without any problems. When using the above mentioned options they did changed the sound.
Is it possible that I've to download drivers by my self instead of the Windows updates one?
Does somebody know what I'm doing wrong?

Seen this enough here and elsewhere with people not knowing or understanding the differences between the different cards. For example have seen too many instances of someone recommending regular X-Fi drivers with the Xtreme Audio. With that said here we go,
1. Audigy SE/LS/Value, X-Fi Xtreme Audio and the Sound Blaster 24 bit
All of these cards are virtually identical hardware-wise, and for the most part the drivers are interchangeable. The only thing the Xtreme Audio has over the others is that it gets to use some of the X-Fi software (and supports Entertainment mode only). Drivers for all of these cards can be found on Creatives support pages,
-------------------------
Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster
http://support.creative.com/Products/Products.aspx?catid=1
-------------------------
the Audigy and Live 24 bit can be found by using the "If your product is not listed above, please click here." link at the bottom of the page. Alternatively you can also try/use the Daniel_k package,

------------------------
that has been modified to work with all the above cards (single installer and driver) as well as return the use of some of the applications that used to work in XP (and Vista if the card was bought recently enough and came with Vista drivers on the CD).
2. The Audigy 1, 2 (all, including the 2 Value) and 4 series. These cards again all use the same driver and can be found through the saem link as above. And again there is also the Daniel_K driver set,

and will not work with any of the cards from #1.
3. Original X-Fi series and the new Titanium series. Again latest drivers as well as some of the applications can be found on Creative's site, as well as the daniel_K set,

http://www.filefront.com/14952787/XFI-SupportPack-2-0.exe/
------------------------------------------------------
Again like the regular Audigy drivers, these will not work with the Xtreme Audio.
4. That leaves the original SB Live series of cards. There is not now and never will be any support for these cards from Creative, and I really wouldn't expect them too considering most of these cards are from the Windows 95/98 era. For anyone with one of these cards the only option you really have (applies to Vista as well) is yet another Daniel_K modified driver set,

I had noticed that a lot of people first had sound issues with their Creative X-fi soundcards. Most of them sorted it out by running the Creative drivers in Vista compatibility mode, or by installing the support pack released by a member on the Creative support forums.
The problem for me is that when I do a fresh install the drivers (either the official or the support pack) I can hear sound properly from the speakers before the computer restarts. However once I restart to complete the driver installation, the sound is gone once Windows loads again.
If I do an uninstall of the drivers from device manager the sound comes back once again, but once I restart it is gone again.
I can't explain this weird behavior but think somehow Windows is overwriting the drivers after a restart. I'm just wondering if anyone hear knows why this is happening the way it is?
I currently have a Creative X-fi Xtremegamer fatality pro, and 4GB ram. I also have a leadtek winfast pvr 2000 which installed properly and works fine (aside from no audio) so i'm wondering if that might be conflicting some how.

I have that sound card. I install the latest driver from Creative which is version 2.18.0013. Installs fine, reboots, then the AutoUpdate program comes up to install all the other applications for my device.
However, if I try to run like Creative Audio Control Panel, which got installed during driver installation, it says "The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit." Even if I install the other application, it will say almost the same message, when I try opening most of them.
I have researched this and contacted creative, but they are never no help, and from what I understand, lot of people are having basically the same issue with the drivers compatibility in WIN 7? Is that correct?
Does anyone know of a solution or do I just have to wait?
I have checked all hardware installations, and they are all good. This worked on Windows Vista x64 with my current system.

I run a Windows 7 RC (64Bit) Build 7100 Version (German).
So far all Programms & Games just work fine.
The only problem i had was with my Creative Live! Cam Vista IM (VF0420).
I downloaded on the creative website the latest vista 64 bit driver & and programm (called creative live cam center). But when trying to install them, combatibility probs showed up.
Then i found a thread on this Forum how to run a programm in combatibility mode (right click on driver, choose properties and then compatibility. Now you can choose a different OS).
But what i did, is even easier. Right click on driver and click on "troubleshoot compatibility". Now Windows looks for the problem itself and recommended XP SP2 mode (in my case). Confirm. Driver is being installed and settings are saved.
