i ave a strange problem with my Windows Live Messenger (2011). When i loggin into mail.live.com nd sing on web i see all people online there and i can talk to them. But when i log into WLM there are only 15 contacts and none of them is online, even if they are on the web based chat (in the email). I use Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and the newest WLM (updated).
I have followed instructions on various forums regarding the none existence of a "New Contact" button in my Contacts folder.I open properties only to find the "Customize" tab isn't there.
I opened up my Live Mail today and my contacts are all missing. It says you have 0 contacts. When I redid my computer lately I was pleasantly surprised that even with my computer completely restored to it's original state, when I reinstalled Windows Live Mail all of my contacts appeared on their own.Anyone know how I can get them back, Windows Live Mail has been acting strange lately asking my to sign in to my Windows Live Account etc, which it doesn't normally do.
All my contacts were missing after the last update of Windows Mail. My cousin had the same issue.I could find my contacts list on my C: drive but they weren't linked together anymore.By logging into Windows live (@live.com email) the problem was corrected. But what about those people who don't use or don't remember their login for their @live.com account? How do you link the 'Contact' file from your hard drive to your Windows Live??
I recently replaced my Hard drive. I had been backing up using Win 7 Back-up. After replacing my hard drive due to failure I have had issue restoring. I first tried to restore with the image after a while it gave me a failure error. So I the reinstalled windows with the original disks that I created when computer was purchased. I reinstalled most of my programs and was able to restore data with the backup. Most of my data was restored but I am missing some information. One is my contacts in Windows live mail. Where in the back up data might my contacts be and where they go. I am also sometimes having issues with windows recognizing the data on my usb hard drive. The backup data and windows backup image are there but when I run restore, advanced recovery methods, it does not find the data on the drive. It states that no back up data could be found The drive is showing.
I have Windows Live Mail and when I click on Contacts at the lower left hand I got no contacts but when I send a email an click on To: then I have my contacts but I can't add or delete any so I don't really know where my contacts are at can anyone help?
I have Windows Live Mail which is working. I have my contacts in a folder in the next partition. I double click on the contact add to my contact list. I go to my contacts and see if they are there they are NOT there, it says "None of your contacts has an email defined" My contacts are under User My User Name Contacts so I'm not sure if this is even right.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium,How do I know if I have a message from one of my messenger contacts? I logged into my Hotmail account and I have a (1) at the top of my screen beside Messenger. When I click on it the name of my contact appears. But the thing is there is no message. Just the person's name.
Try to delete in WLM account A but deletion occurs in accounts B and C as well. How can you delete contacts in WLM in one account but keep contacts in other accounts?
How can i export my contacts from thunderbird? Like I have 1000 emails and I want to export their emails to a file so I can save them. What I mean is I want to have a list of the emails. As I said there are a lot of contacts so I can't do them manually, I did like a week to do that
I added my mother's contacts to her address book but when you make a new email and you hit TO this is what we see. yet she can click on address book and boom they're there so why arnt they showing up in the TO: if this group has a newsgroup please provide the details it would save me alot of time.
Anyone know why emailing 2 contacts separately works but putting both of the same contacts in the To: field together doesn't. The emails disappear into the ether.
I have LiveMail on my machine at home and at work. Sometimes a new mail address or correction comes into one and I want to copy it to the other. Since LiveMail has no way to save a single item and then transfer it, I want to be able to copy the entire "contacts.edb" to my other machine. But since the "users" directories are not quite identical, it doesn't take, LiveMail shuts down and reboots with the old contacts file.
Emptying the contacts and reimporting will not do. For one thing, I have Chinese characters inside the names and addresses, and these are all stripped on the reimport. For another, it seems a time-consuming solution.
Adding everything just duplicates the entries.
Is there some easy way to do this? I tried copying both the ebd and the pat files, but they contain directory links particular to each computer.
I just created 3 new accounts in Outlook 2010 and set one of them as the default. Then I imported a csv file containing another compute's contacts. All went as expected but for the fact no contacts appear in the other accounts. I also imported another csv file for Calendar to the default account and each account shows the correct calendar entries. I guess Contacts don't behave like Calendar. So, I tried to import the Contacts csv file into the other accounts but could only find 'suggested accounts' a a target for the import. How can I get each account to have Contacts?
How do I know if I have a message from one of my messenger contacts? I logged into my Hotmail account and I have a (1) at the top of my screen beside Messenger. When I click on it the name of my contact appears. But the thing is there is no message. Just the person's name. Does that mean they have just hit me up to let me know they want to talk?
Due to some reason my memory card formatted. In my Memory Card i have a back up of my contacts. I try to recover data from memory card for this i just try with the following utilities:

I have windows 7 64 and in my hotmail there are email accounts that I can't delete. They must be spam placed there from a website I visited. When I click on CC, they show up in the list, but when I go to manage my contacts, they are not there.
I posted a question three weeks ago about my primary email addess being compromised after MSN stole my data and put it on the cloud. For some reason my question was buried underground 'for a private answer' by the moderator and I haven't heard a word since - Can someone explain why the question was taken down and the question left unanswered by the moderator?Regarding Contacts Folder/Interface in WLM - how do i disable it. I don't want it, I don't want it creating files and folders I haven't asked for. I don't want it invading my privacy and I don't want it interferring and distributing my data across the internet AGAIN for reasons as explained above
Windows Live Mail seems to force a Contacts Check Names when trying to create an email. So, if my new email address is not in the contacts list it will not send?Is this correct? Solution?
I'm currently using WLM as my email client with my ISP's email account and not signing in to my MSN account.
I can import contacts and the like but their birthdays don't appear in the Calendar unless I sign into MSN and then only the contacts' birthdays' that I have in MSN appear in the Calendar.
So if I don't want to use my MSN account with WLM then I have to create the Birthday calendar manually...
This is my gripe with WLM, it "encourages" the end user to use a Live mail account or all the features in WLM don't work.
If I'm wrong about this could someone explain how to get non MSN contacts birthdays to appear in WLM calendar.
I am running Win Vista Home Premium Edition, X64 bit, and am using Windows Mail for my E-mail provider. Where do I find the "Contacts" file, and how can I back up this list on a floppy so that I may re-install said list in case of a "crash"?
I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Pro and when trying to input information in Windows Contacts, I noticed that the birthdates displayed are not the dates that I input, but the previous day's date.
From looking at other computers and on the Internet, it appears that the Contacts folder is supposed to have a customized menu bar with a "New Contact" button, but on this machine the menu looks the same as every other folder. I don't use this folder/app very often, so I can't say exactly when this changed, but the desktop.ini file in this folder has a relatively recent modification date, and contains the following:
I can still add new contacts by selecting "Contact" from the "New" submenu, but it'd be easier if I had the button in the menu bar. How can I get it back?
