Just arrived home from a trip to find that my computer is not working, constant crashing apparently caused by a failure of the display driver, after doing some research i think that some of my hardware has become faulty, the crashing is constant so i cannot really troubleshoot anything.
View 8 RepliesSo I just upgraded my graphics card from a radeon HD5450 to a radeon HD6670. I uninstalled old drivers and installed all the new drivers for the new card. Now I keep getting this message "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered." The screen will get little pixle squares all over and freeze up then shoot to a black screen for a few seconds. when the system come to that error message pops up. It happens usually when i'm just surfing the web or playing solitaire. I updated my BIOS Power supply is more then adequate.

View 3 Replies View Relatedfor about 2 months now my display driver is constantly crashing. I have to boot up in safe mode to stop the worries of the crashing. What'll happen is, I'll be doing something simple, possibly even playing a low graphic game such a Minecraft oropening a .txt file, and the screen will freeze and start flickering black. It'll come back to the desktop and say something along the lines of "Realtek Display Driver has crashed and successfully recovered." Yes, it's recovered, yayy, but no about 10 seconds later it'll keep crashing, until the extent of where the screen just is stuck on a black screen. I'm really getting angered by this, if any help can be provided, please post below.
i'm having some trouble with my display driver crashing when video files are played. sometimes the driver recovers, but other times it ends with a bsod.i am running windows 7 x64, 4gb ram and a ati radeon hd5870 with up-to-date drivers the driver crashes when
- an embedded video, such as on Internet, attempts to play
- during the windows experience index tests (fails during video processing)
- playback of some video files in windows media player (error message states not enough memory)
the video files in the windows/performance/winsat folder for example don't all crash.these all crash in wmp:

clip_480i_5sec_6mbps_new
clip_480p_5sec_6mbps_new
this doesn't:clip_1080_5sec_10mbps_h264 they all play in powerdvd 8 and quicktime.the bsod log's also point to one particular driver, dxgkrnl.sys the ati driver is up-to-date and i've tried updating directx as well. even tried reinstalling the os over the top of the existing installation.
I just done a fresh clean install of Windows 7 (due to brand new WD Blue 500Gb HDD) on a PB EasyNote TS-13HR, all drivers are the latest from PB's website all Windows 7 updates done and MS Sec Essentials insatlled.It crashes constantly but can then sometimes it'll be fine for hours I suspect a compatibilty issue with HDD, but not to sure really?Below is the debug from memory.dmp - it seems to point at a registry error, which is new (older crash dumps didn't say that!)

I've been having some issues since upgrading my computer to this Galaxy GTX 560 video card. My old EVGA GTX 280 did fine except I wanted to be able to run Direct X 11 and newer games on the horizon.I specifically get crashes when playing certain games. Diablo 3, Star Trek Online, Star Wars The Old Republic (seldom but still happens). The crash would usually occur less than 20 minutes of playing.I have not experienced a crash on Team Fortress 2 yet. I have played for a few hours without crashing.This is a second card, I RMA'd the first card already with the same issues.I am on Windows 7 Professional, x64.This is a upgraded installation from a clean install of Windows xp. Re-Installed Dec '11 This should be a retail version.Motherboard 2007.CPU 2010 Intel Q9550.RAM 2011 Corsair something matched pair.Hard drive 2012 Patriot Memory Pyro.I have not overclocked anything in my computer. Everything runs fine on my 280 GTX. (just a bit slower and I hear the fan churning like mad, but doesn't hard crash).I have also tried running the OCCT, however it also causes it to crash out in about 130 seconds. View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a Windows 7 Host running VMware Workstation with 5 virtual machines, One Windows server, 2 Windows 7 machines and 2 Windows XP machines.The host and non server VM's are fine, they run 100% of the time and never have problems, my SBS 2011 VM is another story. There have been nothing but crashe's over the past 6 months and they are fairly random.I beleive the server BSOD's and then it reboots, upon rebooting it just sits at a black loading windows screen forever until you completely power it off and then back on, at which time it boots up normally.The BSOD's happen ususaly around 12 AM when Windows server backup runs and creates a server backup on another server over the network, the backup runs 7 days a week but we only see the BSOD about twice a month.I have run through drivers in my SBS 2011 install and all seem up to date to me.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having some major and frustrating problems with my Windows 7 Device, where explorer constantly crashes or freezes, videos arent being played smoothly but instead they are jumpy and freeze for a great deal of time before playing another few seconds. Not only that but for over a month it has been performing updates when I shut down the computer that simply do not progress, there have been times when I have left my laptop on for over 12 hours and it hasnt budged from the first update. I have ran sfc/scannow but that doesnt get passed 22%, my AVG and Windows Defender are constantly being turned off without my doing?

I then got Pets for Christmas, was working fine until about a week ago when it froze every so often when i went to the map view, i would then have to press the desktop button and the message "The Sims 3 has stoppe working" would appear... un-installed all of the games and reinstalled them, didn't work. Then started freezing, during game play as well, unistalled them again and reinstalled - again no luck. View 8 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit) has recently stopped displaying Unicode characters correctly. I know its a Windows issue, not specific to a certain program, because the problem appears on Asian characters and symbols like the stars in my song ratings across various programs like foobar2000, Mp3Tag, and iTunes. I don't think they work anywhere; I just happen to notice their absences (replaced by ugly square placeholders) in my media-related programs. One interesting thing is that restoring my default font settings via Control Panel appears to fix the problem every other time I restart (ie, I might be able to get Unicode working correctly if I always restore the default font settings before restarting or rebooting my PC - but that is heinously annoying).
The only possible cause I can think of is that I have had some programs to modify the Windows UI such as GDI++ to make the fonts Mac-like (decided ClearType was better rather quickly :P) and pieces of Stardock's suite including programs like WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, etc. I somewhat recently uninstalled all of them, but I didn't notice the problem right away, so I am not sure if they have anything to do with it.
So, I just upgraded my computer to windows 7 professional 32-bit. The hard drive was reformatted so there isn't much on it. Its been running for about 3 days now and has not been running properly from day one. It just freezes up and the screen goes black randomly. I get an error message that tells me the display drivers have stopped responding and recovered. It happens pretty often and I everytime I've tried to play a video it starts to act crazy. I have an EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9400GT 1GB Graphics card and I was using the 275.33 drivers but someone suggested going to a previous driver so now I am running 266.58.

I then get the yellow warning triangle with the following message: Display driver Intel graphics drivers for Windows 7 (R) stopped responding and have successfully recovered. Now this happens 90% of the time & some pics on some forums don't show up for me, just shows as a little square box.Also, When I run a scan, I get this: "";"D:DRIVER4. After a clean install on a new ssd I'm trying to get my network adapter to work. I put the driver files from the site onto a USB stick, went to devices> properties and then tried to install the drivers fro a file. Unfortunately, Win7 says there are no drivers found. On my laptop, WinZip keeps failing to extract the drivers from the ZIP. I downloaded it here:EDIT: I also tried downloading the file again in case the first got corrupted, but I get the same error each time.I also tried another driver from a product that looked very similair
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with a problem now since January and I wonder if someboddy is recognizing this. My system gets a bsod when I install the graphic driver. It doesnt happen directly but after a while when im on the internet or when I'm trying to run FM 2012 or other games. Then when i reboot I get bsod before windows startup. When the driver isn't installed the computer is running without problem but im not able to play a game or connect the computer to TV and stuff like that.When I reboot again and put the computer in Safe mode I uninstall the driver in device manager and reboot again and the computer is able to start normally.The files that cause the bsod is:

*I looked around on the internet for soloutions, there're many and I have tried almost all. I've tried to remove everything with driver sweeper to install the latest update to my ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2. Even tried to install old updates.
*I have tried to install various OS. Vista x32, x64. Windows 7 x32, x64 and even XP. The problem remains. Now when I know that it doesn't matter I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
*I have opened up my computer and removed all the dust from the motherboard, Graphic card and CPU. The temp is OK!
*I removed one RAM memory and it didn't work.
*I've never overclocked anything.
*I've done some system test over night and it didn't find any errors.

I bought a refurbed Asus K50IJ-BBZ5 laptop this week.When I log into an administrator account after bootup, it will immediately give me a message about installing new device driver software, then in 20 seconds or so say that the install failed.The failure message specifically says"Device Driver software was not successfully installed.First, my ethernet works fine. I've plugged the laptop into a router and gotten to the internet, lost connection upon unplugging (i.e., it's not a wireless signal that is connecting me), reconnected upon plugging back in. Furthermore, when I have wireless enabled and am not plugged in by ethernet, I connect to the internet fine as well.So my wired and wireless internet access is fine.Third, it shows that specific network adapter working fine. Fourth, when I do try to update the device driver software using the device manager, it tells me that my driver is up to date.So my issue isn't so much with the network adapter/ethernet, since they do what I want them to. My issue is how do I stop the computer from pushing this driver at me?And I have cleaned the computer of most ASUS bloatware, and used msconfig to find what's running at startup, and there's nothing running that I see that is pushing this on me.

I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.

I am running windows 7 Home 32bit. My Laptop is Samsung r530. The Video driver (Mobile intel 4 series 8.15.10.2302) has been repeatidly crashing since last month or so. I have just updated it as well but the problem is still there. The BSOD occurs from few minutes to several hours after booting.(NOTE: I haven't reinstalled the windows since last 1.5 years and it is the same OEM windows that came with the laptop.

I have three pcs installed with windows7 sucessfully. I love the operating system.
My laptop is having issues with my 9600 m GT 512 video card..windows update will not find my video card like it does on all my other systems .. 186.81 is the version I have attempted to use from the nvidia webpage... windows reboots saying it had a problem booting and it will attempt to resolve the problem... I have to use system restore after each time I install these drivers... anyone else having an issue like this? Is there a solution to this problem?
My monitor displays this image every now and then "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 301.42 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." For some reason it gets worse and worse. At a certain point it just freezes. I got this video card only a few months ago so I doubt that it's about to die. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it.

View 35 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i've had my computer for about 6 months now and everything is great apart from the fact it crashes at least twice a day.I suspect it to be my Tascam US-800 soundcard driver as it has always given me problems.When i had it installed before it use to crash if i was uploading anything to the internet or even surfing the web!Since downloading a new update that all stopped. However, now if i am watching a movie on my computer or listening to music for about an hour, the sound cuts out. If i try to restart the comp from the start menu nothing happens, no matter how many time i click restart and i have to forcefully restart the comp.Sometimes the screen just blacks out so i cant get to the restart button.I'm pretty sure it's the sound card driver but the only thing that is making me think twice is that when i am producing music on Cubase, which is 90% of the time, everything runs smoothly - not even 1 error.Is there any way to see what is causing these crashes?
