Catalyst Drivers Will Not Install?
Oct 6, 2011
A few days back I picked up an AMD C-60 powered netbook, an ASUS 1015BX to be exact. As the stock HD is not terribly large, and Windows 7 Starter is quite terrible, the first thing I did was stick 4GB RAM into it, swap the HD and install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.Now, the issue I am having is that the video drivers will not install properly. When attempting to install the AMD official driver packages the 'Vision Engine Control Center' is installed but it only lists information on the CPU.The driver listed on ASUS' support site (x86 only, like most of their drivers for this netbook ) does install CCC but it can not be opened. With all attempted driver installations the Device Manager lists the GPU as a 'Standard VGA Display Adapter'.Additionally, I was sure to update Windows to SP1 before installing any drivers (as required with 11.9).So far I have tried reinstalling Windows 64-Bit, then Windows 32-Bit and trying driver versions 11.9-11.5 along with the ASUS supplied driver on the 32-Bit install. At no time has the driver been accepted, although I am sure the hardware is working as the drivers on the original instillation where. So, does anyone have any ideas on how I could solve this? With the AMD C and E series being so popular now, and me not being the only one with This Issue, I am sure someone here has encountered and solved this issue.Maybe it would be possible to take the driver straight out of the stock instillation (I have not yet formatted the disk)

My catalyst control center was bugged so i decided to just do a complete uninstallation, which was successful. When i went to do the fresh install, the install manager would not give me the option of install the catalyst control center even though i uninstalled it. i have been looking through various fourms for solutions, but i only found one that seemed appropriate but it failed. it was the solution of looking in windowsassembly and uninstalling the ATI related products with the public key code of 90ba70f846762.

I've recently been having various issues with my pc, among the things I tried to do was update my graphics card driver: found the newest driver crashed madly, and rolled back. What benefits are there in going for the newer ATI Catalyst drivers compared to the one defaulted by windows but which hasn't updated in 3 years. Generally what could have changed? Compatablity? If it works it works. Stablity? Performance? Heat management?Since it takes me 2 hours to download a driver (slow connection) I'm sticking on my Windows 7 default ones: I know they work. It does make me ask though if there is a benefit to upgading after i've got my PC stable again.

I have an Optiplex 760 with Dell's ATI Radeon HD3470 256MB, running Windows 7 Professional x64 (I also experienced this problem with the 32-bit version). Dell's latest drivers for the card work fine (version 8.640), but anytime I try to install a newer (including the latest) version of the ATI drivers, Windows bluescreens. The initial setup procedures go ok, and I can choose to install, then I select Custom (although I have tried Express with similar results), and when it begins to detect the hardware, it gets to about 10-20% and then bluescreens. The same thing happens when trying to install the Avivo Video Converter; it bluescreens on the detection page. So far, I have only tried the driver-only package and the Avivo

After a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, I used windows update to install all the updates available, and then after restarting I install the AMD graphics drivers. Upon rebooting, the system just hangs on the Windows Loading Logo.
What I have done so far:
I have tried the 11.10 and 11.11 drivers, same effect.I tried just using the driver only and the full catalyst package, both produce the same results.I have tried installing the drivers supplied by windows, but this process fails with an error code that suggests that I already have drivers in place. I have used driver sweeper in safe made to get rid of any video drivers before trying to reinstall, but the effect is the same. After every driver install, I must reboot into safe mood and restore to a previous point to be able to boot back into the full version of windows.
Previous History:This system was working fine with the 11.10 Catalyst package before reinstalling windows.
Relevant System Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 w/ SP 1
Processor: Intel Core i7 920
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P
Memory: 12gb OCZ DDR3 1600
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1.5 TB
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5970 2gb
PSU: Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750 watt

[I reinstalled Windows 7 using the Upgrade option (not clean install) but before I could do the reinstall it said I had to uninstall Ati Technologies which I could then reinstall after the upgraded Windows]I ran install for the Catalyst Softward Suite for drivers which had the CCC listed, but there is no CCC option in the install list when I run to install. It just doesn't appear! I've uninstalled ATI Catalyst Install Manager, ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode and then reinstalled but still the CCC does not appear in the list. I've also checked the Windows/Assesmbly key problem too. It's the same problem as this post: Catalyst Control Center missing/Wont install?I have a Radeon 4000 series card.

I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.
Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

ATI Catalyst Windows 7 preview driver package - includes the Windows 7 driver, and the ATI Catalyst Control Center (with limited feature support). AMD Customer Care
I'd get mine, but, I don't have Windows Seven public beta - where is it.. (Remember they may upgrade drivers before 7 beta officially released.)
Note: This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing.
PS. I left the tags out because of errors - '7' too short must be 3 char. and 'seven' is too common a word! So, no 7 seven windows tags for you ...

Im running a 6870 with windows 7 64-bit for the most part i have had no problems with catalyst or the card, apart from a random occurence where the screen rolls over, so the left side goes into the right and it just moves to the left so it still covers the screen, HOWEVER thats not my current issue, i recently used 'Driver sweeper' to clear all AMD drivers and do a fresh install of the frivers/catalyst to see if i could stop the occasional "this driver has stoped responding but has been seccesfully recovered" rerroes, or this screen spiltting issue, because i presumed it was a software issue, and then i re-installed with the 11.12 version, which at teh end came up with a message that there were erros and to read the log, which i did and thety all said sucess with nothing down the bottom saying anything about an error, but it all still worked althoguh i still had hte not responding error however i recently installed the 12.2 preview drivers, 9aswell as the 12.1 drivers), both of these version after i install them catalyst wont open, on both right clicking the desktop and running ccc.exe after i installed it i havnt had any not responding or BSOD errors, however i cant acces catalyst, and on some occasions when i installed hte 11.12 drivers random things like not being able to acces catalyst via right-clicking the desktop happened, i have had a look at many posts about it not worknig or opening up ,but they all come back with a fixx where they just removed and installed it fresh, well i have triyed the amd uninstalled aswell as driver sweeper, both to no avail, and i have hte lates .net framwork to support catalyst, i just dont understand why it wont work and now when im trying to acces catalyst explorer comes up with the not responding error, and i can see catalyst in the task manager pop up for a second but then it goes away, i will check msconfig and services to make sure its all working but i cant think of any reason why it wont work at all.

I just upgraded my AMD catalyst software to 12.4 on my HTPC. Been noticing that when I am viewing via my Sharp 19"LED TV I get signal cut out after about 20 minutes. I notice this when my screen save comes on in WMC. It eventually craps out and I get "no signal" messages on my screen. It comes back if I simply click on the mouse. This never used to happen before. I could leave the HTPC on over night and simply turn the TV monitor off. When I would turn the monitor on in the morning, the Desktop would be visible. Are there new settings in 12.4 that could be causing signal cut out (i.e. like an energy saver option)?
