Cannot Delete 0 Byte File On Desktop?

have looked many different forums and different solutions but nothing is working to delete this file from my desktop.I let my sister borrow my laptop while I was away, and she had downloaded these torrent's to my system. Leaving the torrent files on my desktop. I was able to delete them all apart from one.I can't budge it. I've used FileAssassin, LockHunter etc and I've also used CMD prompts.CMD prompt comes back with the answer that the file cannot be found, when it is starting right at me on the desktop. I can't move it to another folder, or rename it. FileAssissin can't find it and LockHunter can't find it. Unlocker didn't work either.

I have two blank files on my desktop. I can't rename them, and I can't delete them either! When I try and drag it over to the Recycle Bin, nothing happens. When I try and delete one of them, I get the message "Could not find this item".

been to a wedding over the weekend, before going I created a desktop file, wedding, with route to both hotel & venue, hotel reservations, etc., now I am back I want to delete the file but I am getting the message:"You need permission to perform this action.You require permission from 'pc name''my name' to make changes to this folder Wedding Date created 02/08/2012 7:57pm" as I am the only user of this pc I don't know what I have done to protect the file, no body else touches the pc, have right clicked to see if there is an option for open as administrator.how can I delete this file.

I'm unable to delete a video file off my desktop. When I move it to the trash I get a dialog box saying "The action can't be completed because the file is open by Windows Explorer. Close file and try again."This even happens after rebooting and right after login I drag the file to the trash. How can I delete this video file?

When I clean installed Windows 7 it would create 3 partitions
0 byte = unallocated
100MB - reserved
and 80GB (the rest) = install
Somehow, I eventually got rid of that 0 byte partition during one of my reinstalls.I thought I knew how I did it, but apparently not.I am trying to install W8 on a spare drive that I probably tried unsuccessfully to image my Windows 7 system to when it still had the 0 byte partition.

Few days ago i am able to drag and drop any icon on desktop also file to desktop,but next morning i start my laptop i was unable to drag and drop any icon on desktop also file to desktop.I tried many method but all failed.
i using WIN 7 home premium X64bit HP 431 intel core i5 2gb ram also my setting in desktop/view/auto arrange is off in context menu the drag and drop setting is on

Whenever i take a file and put it onto the my desktop, all the permissions to the file is completely stripped. Leaving none able to open the file.I am able to go into access control and add myself again, but it makes no sense at all..

i created a new folder on my desktop a couple days ago and now i cant delete it. i tried to shred it but no go. if i tell it to delete it tells me i need administrator permission. i AM the administrator. it tells me the file is being shared and i set it to be shared with no body. then i try to open the file of music inside the folder and it tells me i cant do that either. its says not accessible access denied.

I accidently unzipped a folder to the desktop so the zipped contents were placed on the desktop instead of into a folder like I intended to do. I just selected them all and deleted them and did it into a folder but three icons from the files are left and they cannot be deleted.
This is message I get when I try to delete them "This is no longer located in C:UsersMeDesktop. Verify the items location and try again".I have tried renaming to delete and I get the same does not exist message. The files are 0 bytes in size and are blank icons like a piece of paper with the upper right corner folded down. In properties it says they are a "File (.)" and opens with Windows Shell Command. The unzipped contents were for making a boot CD for a password reset tool.

I have an icon on my Win7Pro desktop that cannot be deleted, changed, or anything. I believe it was originally connected to a pdf file that I downloaded (from a reputable site) but the download was interrupted. It's file name is simply Donor.
When I try to delete it I get a flash screen that states: Could not find this item. This is no longer located (in desktop location). Verify the item's location and try again.
I cannot rename the file. It's properties shows that it is on the desktop but has 0 bytes.
I have tried about a gazillion things to no avail, including: Searched the registry for any entry that matches Donor, with nothing found. Booted into safe mode and tried from there with no luck, still won't delete. I am using full Kaspersky and a complete system sweep shows no malware, virus, etc. Found some sites that gave some script for trying to remove such files via the CMD prompt, but result always was that the file does not exist.

I'm trying to delete this file in My Downloads folder (Firefox) but everytime I try, it says "Could Not Find This Item. This is no longer located in :\Users\Username\Downloads. I can't delete a jpg file from our computer. The issue is that we can't even click on the file w/o it freezing the computer. I noticed the problem because I tried to run a defrag and virus check but both get stuck on this same file. I can't right click on it or even drag a box over it w/o the computer freezing.

I have downloaded some music files and a couple of films, with BitComet. When i download the files they usualy go into my download folder, but some of them have ended up on my desktop. I have deleted them from BitComet, and tried to delete them from my desktop. For some reason it is saying that the files are open somewhere else, so it cant delete them. This happens quite often; sometimes when I delete icons from the desktop, they don't disappear from the desktop. If I try to click one, however, it gives me a message that it cannot be found. I have to go to the task manager and close explorer and re open it.

I am on vacation in Italy and started downloading my photo files on the desktop of my hotel computer installed with windows 7 home. The computer has a C drive that has operating system and desktop and then a D drive. I have tried deleting the files and empty the trash, but when rebooted the files just come back. Is there a way I can permanently delete these fles from the desktop.

I had some RAR files, which I extracted into a single 8GB 1080p movie file. Throughout the movie playback my PC lagged like it was 50 years old and the movie kept getting stuck at times. Now when I attempt to delete the movie file, it says recycling but it never goes any further on the green progress bar. I have gone into safe mode and tried deleting it, same issue, it gets stuck there. I have played other 1080p files bigger than 8GB and they have run with no issues at all, so this file is just weird and corrupted. And now it won't get deleted I tried using file shredder and THAT also got stuck and went nowhere. I tried cut/paste the file into another external HDD and that also got stuck. Downloaded a few cbr files (comic books in .cbr format) and now I have a file listed with 0 bytes that wont let me delete it. I've tried unlocker, killbox and a few other things to try to get rid of this annoying file but nothing seems to work to make it go away. I even downloaded the same file again but while the file successfully downloaded again, the "ghost" file is still there. It is not a virus or malware; I checked that already. For a week or so now, I've been having this issue where I can't delete this file without an extension. It was supposed to be a .RAR file but something failed and it left this. Now when I try sending it to the recycle bin it says that this is not the valid location of the file. So now I don't know where it is. I tried using FileAssassin but it couldn't be deleted.
