Can't Install Matrox Driver After Win 7 Upgrade
I have a Matrox M9120 PCIe x16 graphics card. It was running fine in Vista x64 with the 1.0.3.35 driver. I ran the Windows 7 x64 upgrade, and everything seemed to be OK until I discovered that I couldn't open Windows Media Center or view DVDs or other videos. I tried to upgrade to the latest Matrox driver, which supports Windows 7, but the old driver wouldn't uninstall.
I contacted Matrox tech support and was advised that I should have uninstalled the old Matrox driver BEFORE upgrading to Windows 7. They said that Windows 7 has locked in the old driver but cannot recognize it so that it can be uninstalled because it is not a Windows 7 compatible driver. They added that the ONLY solution is to do a clean install of Windows 7.
This is outrageous. No such information appears on the Matrox website, and Matrox did not notify me of the terrible consequences of upgrading to Windows 7 without uninstalling the Matrox driver even though I registered the M9120 with them last January and provided my email address. Matrox knows that every customer faces a potential disaster when upgrading to Windows 7 but covers up the mess rather than notifying registered owners of the simple step to take prior to upgrading.
I'm not going to do a clean install but will use the Matrox card without the ability to play videos for the time being in the hope that some smart techie will figure out how to uninstall the old Matrox driver from Windows 7. If that doesn't happen, I'll buy some other fanless video card and replace the partially functional Matrox card.

I'm having problems installing my Matrox driver on windows 7(x64) version. I've been using the 32bit version of windows 7, and i managed to get the matrox driver installed no problem. (i used the windows compatibility mode) I've tried the same method again (Windows compatibility mode) and downloaded the Vista(x64) version of the driver. It suggests the right diver to install but then says i have an incompatible version of windows. I have read up on the problem, and i have seen suggestions to check that the device ID is listed in the display drivers .inf file. I've checked that and my device ID does exsist in the driver .inf file. So now i'm stumped, is there another way to install my driver? Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my driver won't install.

Upgrade From Vista X64 - Matrox Graphics Driver Issue

Can't Install Win 7 Keeps Asking For Primary Ide Driver
Have a gigabyte ga-8irxp trying to install and keeps asking for primary ide driver. Have the disk and have been to site and downloaded promise drivers from there but it will not take any of them . anybody got any ideas. not running raid just using primary ide and sec. ide channels hardrive and dvd. have went through BIOS and turned raid channels off.

After Nvidia Driver Install, Get 'windows Not Genuine'
i was trying to get drivers for my printer. After restart, screen went black. I restarted in safe mode with netwking to find out what to do. So I eventually found out my graphics card had no driver; it had a generic vga adapter. So I search for my graphics card to find it is an Nvidia GeForce fx 5200 and I get the drivers for it. I restart in normal mode: no success. restart in safe' with net' . starts and am notified that drivers have installed. Now on next restart in normal mode, application error 0xc150002...press ok. Then i get a message in the bottom right hand corner that says 'windows is not genuine build 7600'. I have seen how to change it with/without cmd, but either requires normal mode. So how do I re enter my product key?

XP And 7 Install Issues (Won't Boot Into Win 7 Install)
I have XP SP2 installed. I used EASEUS Partition Master to split my drive in half, one half being XP, the other half being a future install of Windows 7. Put DVD in, selected the blank partition, began the install. Once it gets to the first reboot, it will reboot and go straight into XP. There is no option to choose Windows 7. The XP boot.ini has only one entry for XP. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to add an entry for Windows 7, but have no clue what to put and I'm also guessing I'd have to add a few special tags because it's booting into the setup process of Win 7.

Can't Do An Upgrade Install - Different Language
I'd like to do an upgrade install of Windows 7 Beta. Unfortunately, my current OS (Vista Ultimate 64) is in Italian, thus I cannot upgrade. I even tried to install the English language pack and I made sure to set the language in English. The problem is I cannot uninstall the Italian language as Windows tells me that it's the system language. Is there any way to make Windows think that English is the default language of my computer? I really don't want to make a clean install.

Upgrade Media - Clean Install From Installed Win 7 Upgrade ?
I did an in place upgrade of Windows 7 home premium and I am thinking about trying to do a clean install since the start up time after the upgrade is brutal (about 10 minutes). My question: I know you can do a clean install using a custom install but do I have to re-install vista first or can I just boot up to my working Win 7 install, put the disk in and do a custom install?

Windows Upgrade Advisor Won't Install
Trying to install Win 7 Upgrade Advisor on a two-year old Vista machine (DELL XPS 420). Clicking the setup icon to install gets me nothing. No installation screens, no warnings, no errors, nothing. I tried installing on an older XP laptop and the software installs there just fine. I've checked the other related topics and they seem to be related to problems installing on XP, not Vista. Any ideas what I'm missing? I've never encountered an installation that fails before it even starts.

Upgrade From Vista, Won't Finish Install
I've tried four times to upgrade my vista 64 bit to windows 7, everytime it gets to about 62% complete it just stays there. I'll leave it running for two days and it just won't finish. I've have over five thousand my lastest build, and it all runs great on Vista 64. The compatibility wizard shows no issue before I start the upgrade. If I boot to the CDrom first with the windows 7, it starts coping the disc and then I get the Friggin BLUE Screen, everytime. I've been building sytems for over fifteen years, I've owned every kind of windows ever made. I've probably paid for Bill Gates car (one of them anyway).I could do a clean install, but I don't want to pay for all the software I've installed again.

Matrox RTX2 Compatibility
Windows 7 64 bit not compatible with Matrox RTX2. Well there it is drivers are not available for Matrox RTX2. Unless someone else can suggest something, there not on the Matrox download page.

SB Audigy2 XS - Can't Install Driver
Brand new install of Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. Windows installed a driver automatically for my soundcard, but I had no sound... great. So I downloaded a newer driver from Creative's site (2.18.0011) but it refuses to install, saying it can't find a supported product! My Audigy2 works perfectly under XP so it's not a hardware issue.

Can't Install 32 Bit HP Driver
Win 7 64 bit host (RTM) - need to install 32 bit HP 1320 driver as additional driver on the host so a 32 bit XP (SP3) machine can use the printer. So far I have not been able to make this work (when I select additional driver and point to the folder that contains the HP 32 bit drvr, I get an error msg 'Can't find a valid driver, etc')Would appreciate knowing if anyone has successfully done this, and how.

Can't Install BC-5500S Driver
I've just bought a notebook (FSC Amilo 3540) with a Sony Optiarc BC-5500S DVD/Blu-ray drive. Then I changed the operating system into Windows 7. Everything seems to work fine, except the fact that I couldn't install the driver for BC-5500S. From the vendor's website, it says that it supports Windows 7 (and also according to Sony's website).

Can't Install XPDM Driver
I have my own XPDM driver for special 2D graphics card. (it not capable to support WDDM driver). I could install it on Windows 7 32 bit edition, Windows Vista 32 bit edition and Windows Vista 64bit edition. But I can not install it on Windows 7 64 bit edition. When I tried to install my XPDM driver on Windows7 64bit edition, error messa says "The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows". Does anyone know the solution?

ATI Driver Won't Install
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop and I installed Windows 7 Build 7100 on it. However, Open GL games do not work, and I have the ATI 8.56 graphics driver installed and I am trying to upgrade it to the latest 8.61. However, after I run the installer, my screen does not blink and once installation is complete, I do not see a change in the driver version - and catalyst is not installed as well. However, when i am trying to re-install it says the drivers are already installed. Any ideas as to whats going wrong? Its a 32-bit OS. I cannot run any OpenGL games, they fail saying it could not load OpenGL.

Can't Install Network Card Driver
I tried to install network card driver, but I can't because of: 1) device manager doesn't see any networking devices (I looked even for devices without driver) 2) control panel -> add a device hungs up in state 'searching for devices... Make sure your device is discoverable.', so I cannot install it this way either. This is a computer where I used linux and windows xp before without a problem, so I think hardware is not the issue.

Win 7 Won't Validate On Upgrade
A friend of mine called me last weekend in desperation, having had a serious multiple virus attack on her (XP Pro) PC. The system was trashed, so we decided to install Win 7. The PC came with XP Pro, and the sticky label is still on the case. However, in view of the viruses we weren't prepared to take the risk of leaving anything on the PC, so I wiped and reformatted the HD and installed "afresh". She bought an "Upgrade" edition, since she has a legitimate XP license.  I waited for "please insert your XP CD" which didn't come. Then I waited for "enter your XP validation code" which didn't come. Finally, it asked for the Win 7 validation code which it told us (with no explanation) was invalid. I phoned MS to get a telephone activation but ended up with an Indian call centre operator who hadn't a clue. Do I REALLY have to wipe the HD, reinstall XP, then upgrade?  What does that do for anyone? It'll take me best part of a day - for what? Surely it isn't beyond the wit of MS to provide the "enter the old CD" or "enter the old code" as was the case with previous upgrades and was was promised for Win 7. I read a while ago from an MS employee that [quote] Windows 7 upgrade will be able to do a clean install as long as you have a valid and legal copy of Windows XP or Windows Vista to show during the install. A prompt will appear asking for the cd-rom and product key. Jessica Microsoft Windows Client Team[/quote] Sadly, it seems Jessica's wrong. It didn't ask for either - it just refused point-blank. The installation completed, but will not activate. What now?

Kyocera FS-9530DN Printer, Can't Install Driver
We have a Kyocera FS-9530DN printer on our school network for which Windows cannot find a compatible driver. I know that the windows vista drivers will work on Windows 7 because a student who upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 is able to use the printers. Unfortunately, I am unable to install the printers - Kyocera provides sets of its printer drivers through an .exe installation bundle that automatically detects the OS and then kills the application because it's not a supported OS.

Win7 Will Not Shut Down And Can't Upgrade NVIDIA Driver
on a recently purchased HP Pavillion Dv7, quad core, laptop I can't get it to shut down and it will not go into standby either when using the Start > Shutdown the system appears to hang with the Shutting Down ... message on the screen. It eventually blue screens with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE errorThe .dmp files started on 12/20. There is a restore point on 12/20 that I can't seem to get to restore.I tried to upgrade the NVIDIA driver, the driver installation hung and would not complete.Also tried applying the hot fix from KB 977307. That took a very long time to install, maybe 30 minutes but did eventually complete.I will begin the process of disabling drivers and such next, but was hoping there might be another clue that I am missing. The restore point indicates that some HP software was updated, so, that would seem to be the first thing to disable / reinstall.Thank you,-jdPS: Other than this it's been a great machine and OS. Win 7 RC Install Failed, Now I Can't Boot Vista
Alright I was dual booting Vista and 7 beta just fine without any problems for months. I decided to install 7 RC and replace my beta installation. So I downloaded the iso and burned a disc. Rebooted, booted from dvd, and got into the custom installation mode. I reformatted the partition with windows 7 beta on it and selected that partition to install on. When it got to expanding windows files I figured it would take a while and went to bed. In the morning I had an error message saying installation failed. So I figured I'd boot into vista, download a clean copy and burn another disc and try again. But now I can't boot into vista. The boot manager doesn't recognize that I have any OS at all. I tried running windows recovery disc and it says it can't detect any boot sequence problems. Vista is there intact and unharmed but now how do I boot it?

Can't Print Office 2007 In Upgrade Win 7
Just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit on a Vista 64 bit machine. Office 2007 was working fine prior to install. Now Word and Excel will not print on my Xerox Phaser 6280N. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers three times. The download from Xerox does have a challenge installing - gives me an error - but I can still find the updated drivers and install them when I reinstall the printer (set up as a networked printer on my router). However, I can print Acrobat Files as well as WordPad files! No problem printing a test page either. As I said, I have updated the drivers so they should work fine with Windows 7.

the half off upgrade sounds good but you need to clear up the wording of upgrading from xp. does the win 7 upgrade install over xp only after you format. then do a clean install of xp then install the win 7 upgrade ? that sounds like a government job. real real lame. the way it is made to sound is do a clean install of win 7 with the upgrade after but thar would be a fresh install... not a upgrade - Microsoft designed Windows 7 Upgrade media for Windows Vista. A customer with Windows XP can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade media but must back up their files, clean install, and then reinstall their applications.
