I got a new computer last month. When people send me Adobe PDF Files I can't print them with 64 bit Windows 7 Premium that is on my new computer.I have Adobe Reader 9.3.4 . Is there an add on I need so I am able to print? It must have already been on my old puter with XP.
View 7 RepliesAt places where I have worked (XP systems), one of the printer choices was "Adobe PDF". When you print to it, it creates a PDF file. I beleive this driver came from Adobe. Is this driver free?I would like to get this driver for my home Win 7 system but have not been able to find it. I have found similar drivers from other providers, but not Adobe. Some of these drivers require payment which leads me to believe Adobe does not give this away free.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Adobe Design Premium CS4 on my HP Pavilion Elite desktop computer. Soon after, I started to experience long boot times of up to ten minutes.
So far, I have:
1. Ran HP diagnostics on all my hardware - all passed.
2. Checked in Event Viewer, which confirmed the long boot times, but gave me little idea of what causes it.
3. Rolled back my NVIDIA GTX 460 driver to version 270.61, but that made no difference.
4. Ran a full anti-virus scan in Safe Mode using Malwarebytes - nothing showed up.
5. Checked running processes in case the CPU was being overworked - again, nothing showed up.
6. Disconnected my Hitachi USB backup drive and my SD MS Office documents-backup flash card.
7. Ran a boot trace using Cluberti's tutorial, but the computer blue screened shortly after the trace started to run, so I decided not to pursue that line of fault-finding any further.
8. Reinstalled Windows and my applications and discovered that the long boot times only restarted AFTER I reinstalled Adobe Design Premium CS4.
7. Uninstalled CS4 and the long boot times appear to have disappeared.
So, as the title of this thread suggests, can Adobe Design Premium CS4 cause long boot times with Windows 7, and if so, why?
On my old computer I have Excel docs prepared using Windows XP and MS Office 2000. I have transferred all to a portable hard drive. My new computer has Windows 7. I've installed Office 2003 because I do not like the current version of Office. When I open the Word docs they are fine. However, when I open the Excel docs they appear as a .pdf not supported by Adobe. When I open them on my wife's computer which is Vista and MS Office 2000, they are fine. I really do not want to have to recreate the Excel docs using Office 2003. What, if anything, can I do to have the 2000 Excel docs transferred to 2003 Excel.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUntil recently my computer would open image files with Adobe Photoshop and Preview them using Windows Photo Viewer. This is the way it has worked in Windows 7 as long as I have been using it. This worked great because Photo Viewer open almost instantly and Photoshop takes forever! About a week ago, probably after some Windows updates, it started "Opening" everything in Photo Viewer instead of Photoshop.
I changed the default program back to Photoshop, I had to do this with every image format, from BMP to TIf one at a time, but I got it so when I want to open an image, to edit, it comes up in Photoshop. The problem is that it now does the same thing with anything I want to preview! I work with images all day long. So my question is how do I get it to respond to the "Preview" command with Picture Viewer without changing the default action for "Open"? I've looked and I can't find any place that lets you change this setting.

I tried to move it but it couldn�t be moved so I copied and pasted it into a new location. I know I should uninstall but since I just wanted 1 copy, I deleted one. After that, most of the other Adobe programs were affected. When I opened some, they would say that some files are missing or my license has expired. Some started asking for serial number or to register.When I opened Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 it said Photoshop Elements Help was missing and there were missing icons on the right side. But I can goto to another laptop isn't name computer alfa1. I goto run \alfa1. But don't access to it! Also I'm a administrator. My OS is Windows 7 home premium and another system Windows 7 Ultimate.
Is is possible to change from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional without losing files? Both are 64 bit.

It still copies the screen to the clipboard for a paste into paint, but I can't figure out why it's bringing up the dialog to print or how to turn that off. I have seen it before maybe 8 years ago on Windows XP but do not remember what was done to correct it. When I try to search, I just find posts about it not working or how to turn the whole screen capture function off for the PrtScn button.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe original OS was Windows XP 32bit SP3. I upgraded this system to Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 with no issues.
I then went to upgrade the system to Windows 7 Premium. I chose the "Upgrade" install and not the "Clean" install. I've checked the updater to confirm that all my system information was adequate. I uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Controller, iTunes, etc. that it wanted me to. Oddly enough, the ATI Catalyst Controller was the most recent driver that supports Windows 7.
I checked online to see if the hardware was all supported by Windows 7. The Sapphire Vapor-X video card was not compatible or compatible... it simply wasn't on the list of either. The X-Fi Extreme Gamer said it was NOT compatible... yet, I had a driver for Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Application checker said that my sound card was ready for Windows 7... thus a discrepency.
I went on with the installation. I get to the last step where it resets the computer at 62% and I get a BSOD for about 1/3 of a second. It goes by too quickly for me to capture it. It then restarts the computer instantly with the result of "Upgrade was not completed successfully. Restoring prior OS yadda yadda". I've gone through this about 5 times now trying different things.. keeping the Catalyst controller installed, uninstalling the video card, removing the sound card, etc. Nothing seems to work.
It was recommended to me that I do a clean install... however, I have read that many others have done a clean install and theirs STILL doesn't get past the 62%.
Is it my hardware? Do I need to buy MORE hardware now that 7 is out that is on the compatible list?

Illustrator CS2

Photoshop and Dreamweaver are the programs I use the most often, but will all these programs work with Windows 7 at the CS2 version level, or do I need to upgrade?

After I down load it (from the Adobe site),I'm still told that I need it. When I check the un-install a program screen, it's there. One is print to file which I don't know where that came from but every time I try to use it, it prints an "invalid file" after I enter the mile long output file name ending in .pdf.Using the other adobe pdf printer port I click print and it doesn't ask for a file name/location it just shuts down as if it printed to somewhere but I don't know where.
