Unfortunately this Asus mb does not seem to have inbuilt intelligent CPU fan control- unlike the Gigabyte MA78GM-SH2 which is whisper quiet but now not available.
Asus supply a software Utility on the CD, but the overall Application Installer will not allow installation to what it calls WNT_6.IP_64_MCE - thereby stopping me getting at what they call Cool 'n' quiet.
As I bought 6 of these mb's any thoughts on how to make things quieter would be much appreciated.
I've been looking doing some research about windows 7 and I discovered that your motherboard must support virtual hardware, for it to run XP, so enabling a dual boot, between Windows 7 and Xp. I not sure that my motherboard has the virtual hardware. I'm not seeing it, can someone help me?
I'm building a new pc with a Asus M3N78-EM mb and AMD Phenom 9600. I tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate (Bld 7000) 64 bit and was getting the BSOD around the point of expanding files during the install. I tried a couple times, same results. I then updated to the latest bios for the mb and tried installing again. The install goes much further, during the part of "completing install" i get the BSOD.
I tried 3 more times, everytime BSOD around the same part of the install. Can someone tell me if this is a mb bios issue, a bad cpu issue or a windows 7 64-bit issue? I tried installing Windows 7 beta 32-bit, and this installed successfully on the first try. This is nothing fancy with my new system, 4 gb (1066) GSkill memory, all default bios settings, sata hd's (non raid).
Ok, so I just put together a new PC with an ASUS M3N78 Pro motherboard, and I installed Windows 7 onto it. I got pretty much everything working right except the sound. I tryed installing a vista x64 realtek HD audio driver from the ASUS site, and it didnt work. Any ideas?
OK, so I just built a new PC with an ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard. I installed Windows 7 and almost everything works except for the sound. I have Logitech X-540 Surround Sound speakers hooked up and I installed a RealTec audio driver for Vista x64, which did nothing. Any ideas about how to get this working?
I am trying to control my system fans either using Asus Fan Xpert or Speedfan. Neither seem to work. I have tried changing settings in my BIOS like Q-Fan and Cool 'n Quiet but nothing seems to work.I am only able to change my CPU fan (Which is a water pump) not the other fans in the case.
PS SpeedFan:Speedfan is able to see the fans & RPM however changing the speeds of the fans doesn't do anything apart from Pwm2 on the right side just changes the CPU fan and that's it?
When I go to Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsNotification Area Icons dialog then there are a lot of programs which are already uninstalled.
How can I cleanup/delete all these useless entries? How can I delete ONE single entry manually?
Second question: Assume I want to hide icons and notification for mutiple/all entries (here approx 40 items) in ONE STEP.
Third question: How can I save/backup the current notification settings (for later restore) into a file? Are these notifcation settings stored in a certain branch of the Registry (which exactly) ?
I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

Is there a way to remotely control a PC through a wifi or ethernet cabled TV (so I can use the TV as a remote monitor w/speakers to stream internet videos, check mail and surf the net?Have PC's, newer wifi enabled TVs and Apple TV & know how I can use the Apple TV box see/listen to iTunes content on my TV, but I what to have access to my PC through the TV.Should think this was a piece of cake - but I just don't see any solutions out there?(I can use a fixed Ethernet cable if needed, but I already have very strong wifi signal everywhere.)
My husband has a Win 7 pc custom built by Fry's. Is there such a thing as a remote control (I guess it would need a usb dongle) to control it? Like to watch Netflix or Xfinity TV on the computer while he's in bed. He has a large monitor and then I could get him to get the pc off the kitchen table and upstairs. I tried using google but just got hits for remotely accessing from another computer. Didn't know exactly what to search for. His HP laptop came with a remote but we've never used it.
For some reason I can't view anything that is under the control panel as well as the control panel itself. I can open everything else fine such as pics, music, games, videos. But anything that has to with the control panel I can't see. The task bar says the folder is open but I see nothing.I have tried the following: ran sfc, it says nothing is wrong, tried to create a new user account, but I can't since it falls under the control panel. I tried to create a new user account through the guest account (I was able to make it an administrator) but it says I can't create a new account with special characters such as $=- etc... I didn't use any special characters at all so I don't know why it's saying that. It seems to me that this is a registry problem, and I'm a little uncomfortable with the registry and don't like to mess with it at all. Worse comes to worse I'm going to try to reinstall windows
cant install java. its missing from my control panel and eveytime i try to reinstall, site site gives me the java 160-31 update, when i try to install it, a dialog pops up promting me to search for the 29 update. i guess thats the 1 in missing cause the same thing happens when i try uninstalling 29 & 30 from my programs & features in my control panel. im running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and ie 9. i also use Google chrome.

I use Pangobright because the brightness of my Toshiba laptop doesn't go as low as I want it to be, when I'm using the laptop in complete darkness. But Pangobright also doesn't seem to go as low as possible, and when I dim it too low, I can't see a part of the screen unless I'm looking down at the screen. Is there a better screen dimming software?
