I am traveling to Hong Kong in a couple of months. My HP laptop is from the US. It has an external power brick that takes 100-240V.My question is about the cord that goes from the power brick to the wall outlet. The cord has a US plug. Does the cord also take 100-240V and I just need to buy a plug adapter, or does the cord only take US voltage and I need to buy a new cord?
I have a Phillips desktop machine which up to a few weeks ago was running fine. 4 weeks back I was running a virus scan and left the machine alone only to return an hour later and find the machine off and the power cord at the back completely melted at the connector. After an initial panick I replaced the cord and the machine booted up again and ran absolutely fine.4 weeks have passed now and today I noticed a burning smell whilst the computer was on and I noticed the power cord was starting to seriously melt again.
I have had this issue for a while with my Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop. It is a guess, but i'd say 5/10 times the power cord comes out of the laptop (for whatever reason - moving it etc) then the laptop will simply black screen and instantly restart and boot up again without an error message or any information as to why. This doesn't make any sense to me because every time I do have the battery pack inserted into the laptop and over 30% battery life (this is when ill plug the charger in).
I have a laptop with Win 7 HP 32bit SP1, which doesnt boot at all, if the power cord (AC Adapter/Battery charger) is plugged in. Further if power cord is plugged in after booting, the system hangs / shuts down. It runs fine on safe mode. I believe it is a driver updation problem but not sure. I have updated all drivers given in Toshiba download site.
When I remove the power cord of a cpu while working, it often makes windows 7 crashes hard. When that happens, Windows 7 by default makes a system restore. Since we don't want that, we removed this option. Since the system restore has been desactivated, Windows 7 reboot over and over again. I have to reinstall. Sometimes, even the safe mode is not working. This scenario does not happen every time because sometimes Windows 7 succeeds in "getting back" online.
I have 4 outdoor video cameras, which i want to view/record ALL on ONE screen-cant figure out what peice i need to split the screen 4 ways,or how to about hooking up...& how do i view them on different locations in my home after i get this done?
I need a new AC power adapter for my monitors. I have three Acer S243HL LED monitors, and the power adapters basically exploded a few months ago (I heard a loud pop, followed by the monitor just turned off). I tested it with a working power adapter (the one I'm using now for my only functional monitor), and the monitor itself is fine. The power adapter is not. Anyways, to prevent this happening in the future, could someone recommend to me a high quality power adapter which won't short out on me?
I have an HP Laptop model 6735b with an AMD Turion DualCore ZM-84 Mobile processor and 2GB of RAM. I purchased it in January 2009 and installed windows XP on it, which I had no problems with. I recently installed Windows 7 on it, and it will not power down or go into hibernate mode without being on external power. When I tell it to hibernate or shut down it will power the screen down, but thats as far as it will go without being plugged in. All of the lights stay on (volume control buttons, wifi indicator, etc.), the hard drive continues to run, and it will stay like this until I plug it in, at which point it will finish its power-down or hibernation.
I've a question about Brightness in laptops When I use Cord to Power my Laptop I usually get higher contrast, brighter back lightning then just using battery.
I get as much brightness with Battery usage as with a Cord ?
I've done a lot of searches using variations of the above title and came up empty or just plain missed the answer.I'd like to know, if it is not asking too much, the following points:
1. What exactly is the function of Link State Power Management in the Power Options Advanced Settings, PCI Express?
2. What are the implications of using the options available:
a) Off.
b) Maximum power savings.
c) Moderate power savings.
d) Which option is the best selection for my Dell laptop.
I use my PC for audio production and I have a few external controller devices that are USB powered, for example a midi keyboard. I recently had to build PC due to a theft....long story short after building the new PC I've noticed that my USB buses have continual power to these external devices after I've powered down the PC. My old windows 7 PC did not do this. Is there a setting I can change to shut off power to the USB buses when I power off the PC? Or is this a hardware issue?
i've tried to set the option for pressing the power button to 'Do Nothing' so no body can shut the computer, and yet it shuts down by pressing the button, so why is that and how can i work this out?
I've been having some BSOD lately when I plug in a usb memory stick. At first it could happen during games and at start up.I first thought it was the program "magicdisk" that was the problem. One of the BSOD blamed it on a system file used by that program, but after Uninstall I still get BSOD.I tried to revert back to an old system image, but that didn't help. And it also added "magicdisk" back, but this time I couldn't uninstall it. It said it was already uninstalled, but the registry files was still there. So I tried to clean out any remaining files and drivers from the program.
ive just got a new laptop with Win 7 on it and ive bin trying to get my USB HDD to work with it but keep getting code 43 does any one know how to fix this? i think i need to download the drivers but can't find them any where for this HDD its a Freecom mobile drive 160GB model code PSJABA IT SAYS ON The back can any one help?
ake sure that when plugging into the MB, the HDD doesn't lose any data from the prior set-up? HDD-1 is the primary data drive. Shouldn't I be able to "mount" it and read the data? I am planning on moving the data to some external HDDs, reformat the HDDs and then put the user data files back in HDD-1.
I know there are several threads but they are with different cards and they didn't solve my issue...
I bought a new MEDION AKOYA P5334E and the system arrived installed normally with Windows 7 home edition.
I've installed on the computer the Windows 7 enterprise edition (x64) and many drivers could not be find. I've installed nost of them, except the display adapter. It's stuck on "standard vga graphic adapter". I have the AMD Radeon HD7570 card but no matter what I try is not working! tried to uninstall the current driver, tried to download the driver from the AMD website (when executing it - it's running but does nothing). when executed the auto detect from AMD website, I got the message "we were unable to find your product or OS"
Over the past 2 years my PC has been afflicted with random power off/power on/reboot events. It will go for months without these and then have multiples of the events in a day. (I had 8 of them 3 days ago.)I assume I have a hardware problem, but nothing has been found and I'm grasping at straws. The time between power off and power on is several seconds.I had assumed this rules out a software cause, but maybe I'm wrong. I know Windows can schedule a power off, but can it tell BIOS (or something) to power back on in a few seconds?I know blaming the power supply is a much more simple explanation, but then I'm left with explaining the intermittent nature of the failure.
From many days the battery icon is missing from the taskbar, the notification icon is greyed out even if the laptop is not on AC. i followed the the tutorial System Icons - Enable or Disable but nothing happened.
ive done something rlly daft lol, in an attempt to fix windows firewall i have uninstalled the Windows Firewall Authorization driver as it said it had a problem with it prior to thinking how can i reinstall it

I have a few peripherals that have not been working via plug and play and I was wondering if there is a setting I need to change.I have done some search over the internet but have yet to find a solution thus deciding to post here.
My Inspiron does not recognize usb hd drives when I plug them into a port. This is Dell is using a Windows7 update that was installed over the original Vista software. My backup is stored on a Maxtor USB drive and I need to access it to retrieve some files.
my explorer crash when i connect or disconnect USB device, in this case flash drive.it's not everytime, but frequently happen.I already tried CCleaner.
I've pulled the old Fan out. When I google the PN: hi. 10800.028 e I learn it's Socket 775, 95mm which I confirmed by measuring fan diameter.
Tiger Direct shows this right-priced replacement model which matches every spec except it has a 3 pin plug: VALUE SOCKET T/775 HEATSINK at TigerDirect.com. They don't know if 3 pin plug works when 4 pins are present on mobo and original part has 4 pin plug.
There's also this used one which exactly matches PN: Acer HI.10800.028 Heatsink and Fan Gateway AX3400G X1420G X1920G
And this one for twice the price that matches even the Acer model number: New Acer Aspire X1200 X1300 X1301 X1800 X3200 X3300 X3810 Cpu Fan. But he doesn't wanna spend that much.
Yesterday I encountered a problem. My Dell laptop not charging. But is showing in notification area charger plug in but not charging. I check my battery heath from bios. It's showing battery health normal. But adapter type showing as a unknown. I am confused If my adapter is going to dead, then why it is showing "plug in" in notification area
So its a Satellite C855-141,Toshiba. And the headphone plug worked, but now its broken. When I plug any headphones I hear a crack or just some sound, and then its gone. Also the speakers are off then, they dont let a beep out. So the laptop is getting the headphones signal but its not transferring any sound.
I plug in a LAN cable to my laptop but apparently Win 7 can't detect it. However it does detect the wireless connect and automatically connect to it.I'm a noob when coming to Win 7 and Computer stuff.
