bootable image that contains a command prompt other than the windows 7 install or recovery disks. I just did some troubleshooting today, and I'm not exactly an expert, so I had to keep booting back into the disk after verifying that my fixes didn't work .
I have had my new computer with windows 7 from Dell for almost 2 years. I have never had any problems with it until yesterday. All of a sudden I can't login with my password. I am the only one who uses my computer. I called Dell and gave them my express code service #, etc. and I have already paid them enough! I went searching on how to resolve this and one thing I found I need to get into safe mode with command prompt. Well, I did and it loads files and then goes right to logon screen without allowing me to enter any command prompts.
While working on my laptop a command prompt screen comes for a second and vanishes away and this happens a lot of time ..however since this happens so fast I dont what is written in that command screen as it exits in less than 1-2 second. Is there any way i can track wht makes to come this screen again and again
I have a new pc (Windows 7) and the moment I got it home the screen display diminished so that it was something like three quarters of the full screen, with black bands on either side and having to swivvle from left to right to read the full contents of the screen. I must later have pressed something inadvertently, as it decided to be full screen again! However, it is back to three quarters format and I haven't been able to find any useful guidance as to how to get it back to full screen again. This is driving me mad!
I am getting a prompt screen to upgrade my Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X, which has a selection to install Chrome that I cannot de-select.I do not want Chrome - should I upgrade this? Indeed - do I need it?
then the desktop finally loads. It only lasts about 60 seconds before BSOD'ing again. Safe Mode seems ok, but I was in the process of typing up this thread when safe mode shut down on me randomly. I've tried restoring to earlier points and running malware scans. Minidumps are included.
Ok So I got myself into a unique bind here. I was trying to install some custom system files (for a theme) and I did it wrong and now I cant open explorer.exe . I dont want to goto a backup because this is a easy fix. (in my view). So I need to know how to run command prompt with administrative privleges from command prompt.
I am trying to do this command: copy explorer.exe C:Windows
So if there is also another command I can just tack onto that that gives me admin rights to do it. I would be happy.
After I install the software I need on the SSD I would like to make a bootable copy of the SSD and install it on the HDD to have as a boot able backup. I have read many posts about this yet cannot understand what I need to do.
i'm looking into getting a thumb drive and i was wondering what you guys think would be best?
i know there are a million different brands but i was looking for something to load a Windows 7 build onto and install quickly.
i've been using dvd's and its cool to see all of them in order from 7000 to 7100 but after all the clean installs i'm doing i know dvd's aren't the quickest.
so! what type of USB should i get and how do i make it bootable?
just got myself a 16GB Kingston Drive and what i want to do is put 2 or more bootable images on there create my own boot menu so i can choose what to use when i need it.
Have two HDD, one with Windows 7 professional 1TB SATA and other older win XP sp3 160gb SATA. To keep working environment separate, I use one HDD at a time, disconnecting other HDD. It used to work fine except 2 days back, when I had shut down winXP 160GB HDD with hibernation and after detaching that sata cord and reconnecting 1 TB sata cord, there was a major startup failure. With Windows 7 DVD RE, after opening system recovery dialogue box, no options were working including startup repair, system image recovery and system restore. In command prompt, c drive could not be detected. However, after bootrec.exe/fixmbr win 7 started but is a bit slower. How to avoid this problem? Does hibernation of one HDD interferes with startup of other HDD even though no RAM changes take place?. Does frequent change of HDD like this cause hardware/software damage?Specs - Core 2 duo 1.83ghz, 946gzis mb, 2gb RAM, ATI radeon 4850 512mb, VIP 600w smps.
when i turn on thers a blank screen saying f2 and f12,iv,e pressed both and nothing happens, just a other blank screen saying no bootable devices, i connected a external hard drive and put a windows disc in to try reinstall windows, but still nothing ,windows goes through the motions, and then says something about not been able to find a hard drive
Someone want to explain how the hell you make a bootable ISO from these leaked builds?
Everything I try is FUBAR.
Edit: Okay..nevermind..I Frankenstein it and figured it out finally..I just copied the install files onto my USB flash drive and rebooted and set to boot to USB drive.
No need for an ISO
Edit 2: ...Okay..I give up..I get an error during install saying Windows can't install the required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. bla bla
Anyone else getting this with the 32bit leaked copy that just came out?
I'm using an HP laptop and made a bootable flash key with the Microsoft utility (which I downloaded from Microsoft) to make a Windows 7 installation. I(supposedly) changed the boot order in the bIOS to look first at the key. Didn't work - booted directly into Windows 7 (seemingly bypassed the bootable key)1. How do I tell if the USB key is bootable?2. What could have prevented my BIOS from remembering my new boot order?3. What might be the reason(s) why my laptop won't boot from the USB key?HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PCSerial Number: CNF84816H3 Product Number: kq573av
I am trying to make my 1TB eGo USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive bootable. I am running Win 7. The bios hardware supports booting from a USB drive, and I am able to select the USB drive from the boot menu. But when I choose the USB drive, I get: A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart I am able to read/write from the USB drive normally via Win 7 with no problems, but I am missing that something "bootable" - what is it? I used bootsect make the USB drive bootable.(the USB drive is formatted NTFS and could this matter my computer is formatted 64 bit and the USB drive is formatted with whatever you get when you select NTFS -would that be 64bit in my case?)
Whereas it was possible for my computer to boot from a USB key until now (there is the BIOS option to make it choose USB device in priority on boot), it does not work anymore : When I use a bootable USB, it goes directly on windows When I use a brand new and not bootable USB I don't even have the black screen with "missing operating system" I used to have.
the problem now when i restart my pc it doesnot read it and i made the dvd boot before the hard disk and it still not booting from it.I tried to search before posting this thread, but i amnot very good on these things and i didnot understand how to solve it, please give me the steps for doing it and don't tell me "burn the cd" or "do something" as i don't know how to do these things
Maybe it's a stupid question,but I can't figure it out how...?
At this moment,I have Win 7 buil 7000 32 bit installed,and I want install x64 version,so I have downloaded Windows 7 build 7048 x64,but it's not a bootable ISO file.
I managed to make an ISO,but have never did and don't know how to make a bootable ISO file,I have already tried several programs(PowerISO,MagicDisc,ImgBurn,Nero 8),but every time I burn an image on disc,it doesn't work.
If there is someone who is willling to explain me correct way step by step,I'll be really greatful.
I downloaded OFFICIAL Windows 7, but there is no ISO file so how do I make it bootable? There is a setup.exe file but since i have VISTA 32 bit i cannot clean install to W7 64 . So what do I do?
I have to overwrite a windows 7 64 bit OEM with a windows 7 64 bit professional iso I got (yes I obtain it legally). I burned it onto a disc using a just a regular burning software that came with my computer(macbook pro), but you can't do that can you? You have to use a certain program that turns it into a bootable dvd, right? Am I correct or am I just taking nonsense.
I was just wondering id it was a good idea to have an extensive knowledge on the windows command prompt and how to use it. If so can anyone share some links to where I could see some tutorials?
i resized my my C: partiton and it is my main partiton usin Partiton manger and since then it is not bootable and windows is not loading although i didnt format
