Best Anti-virus Programs To Use That Requires Low Resource Usage
Nov 5, 2011
I have been using Norton products since the day I bought a computer and have found that it is pretty much a resource hog when I am trying to play video games like the newest game Battlefield 3. What antivirus software is a low resource hog and does not take up many resources to run the computer? I would prefer free, but I can buy it as well if that needs to be necessary.
I had a problem with a website while running Microsoft Security Essentials. I tried to reinstall MSE but I keep getting an error during the installation. I also tried to install AVG with no luck. It is like I can't install programs.
Ok so today i was clearing some data with the Disk Clean Up, almost right after that my computer became extremely slow and unresponsive, I found that my McAfee Security that came free with the laptop was Turned Off and it wont Turn On again. I have tried Installing AVG, running an Rkill that i downloaded last year and have done a System Restore as far back as possible but still my computer becomes unresponsive and wont open any programs unless i'm in safe mode.
I am fixing to get a new computer and will be needing anti virus for it. I'm not asking what is the best free anti virus out there. Money is not an issue, I want the best all around anti virus to date. I am using avast pro right now, but felt like there is probably something better. I am debating on BitDefender, kapersky, Norton, or maybe put Avast back on.
I am currently using Microsoft security essentials as an Anti-virus software. Is this sufficient or do I need another anti-virus such as Bitdefender, Macafee etc? If necessary , please recommend a decent anti-virus program that offers good protection for computer viruses, spyware & malware
I had just done a fresh install on a new machine 15 days ago. I had registered my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit @ microsoft site. Now my system has virus @ the anti virus has started to act very strangely. telling me to re-inatall the Anti virus + Office 2007.If I do so will my OS be legal? My system is acting up strangely.
I have just purchesed norton gold 360 and it says that I need to uninstall avast to make it work. when I try to delete the folder it says "you require perrmission from laptop pc/laptop to make changes to this folder.
i just installed CLEAN install of Windows 7 Upgrade (OEM) and it takes 45 seconds to boot up YAY
but ever since i installed norto n360. 2 minutes? i hate resource hogging programs.
I am looking for an anti virus that is super great that barely affects your pc boot up (or no effects at all to make pc boot faster) and well, not a resource hog that makes ur computer crash.
so any suggestions for what antivirus programs (i need people who actually tried the product and has experienced it, not just suggestions without knowing) fits what i am looking for? i am currently using norton 360 3.0 its good but slows my laptop.
After downloading Avast Anti-virus software that I purchased, my Windows 7 Laptop was slower, and then, it would not shut down and froze. Now it stays frozen in the start-up screen, and does nothing. Could the installation of Avast have caused this, and what should I try now, beside the lake behind my house?
What is the best anti virus for WIN7.Could you also take these factors into account: least amount of RAM used (certainly not Norton), best GUI, best scanning system, best security.
Using Windows 7, Error code appeared during trial version avg anti-virus uninstall and stated that operation was unsuccessful. Tried repeatedly but computer will not even start the uninstall process. While trying to download new 2011 free avg, the application exe file appears to save ok but will not show up on desktop or anyother location for me to access. Tried other software applications from cnet and got same results. Also restore operation did not work.
I am looking around for a virus/malware protection program.Something that will detect viruses AS they come in, instead of having to wait untill you are infected, then running a scan. The software should monitor the network for outgoing and incoming connections, to seek out Now I have come across a number of programs before in my past, and used a number of them as well, but I am curious as to what programs are currently "on top" as far as virus detection rules, and security features goes, and most review sites seem to be biast toward which software company pays them most to talk them up.
Having changed anti-virus software from MSE to AVG on W7 the first scan revealed a "Corrupt Windows Installer".Further investigation doing a Sfc /Scannow confirmed this was indeed true and Scannow could not rectify it.how I can rectify this without doing a complete reinstallation of W7?
Looking for reliable and compatible Anti Virus Software on Windows 7 64x.
After reading so many posting on the ServenForums I kind of layout these are the best 3 antivirus software, they are AVG Free Edition , Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).
I had serious nightmare using AVG Free Edition on my Windows 7 x64, which constantly causing program or opening up file not responding. I honestly do not think I will go back on AVG again (Also, it takes too much memory on real time protection as well as scanning threads).
I would like to hear from everyone to see which one of the above anti-virus program is best in terms of Security Protection, Compatibilities to Windows 7 and performance.
so i want to ask a question? how can i set up an antivirus program with a mini laptop since they don't have a CD/DVD drive, i mean i already bought kaspersky Antivirus but it's a cd and since this computer don't have to insert CD's i don't no how to set it up
I am using windows 7 64 bit home basic operating system, i have confusion, which antivirus will be support to this OS.Download kaspersky anti-virus for windows 7 64 bit
cannot boot into win 7, "Startup Repair" screen pops up. States to, "start window normaly" or "start Repair". Starting normaly repeats bringing upthis pop up box. "Repair" do nothing.
Amd Phenom II x4 B55 BE, 4gb ram, 2 1tb hdd, 1 250gb external, win7 prof. 64-bit, running kaspersky now. Was using avast prior to problem. Ok to the problem: Unusual or perhaps just new memory usage being high (cpu usage just fine)Direct cause: svchost.exe (system, pid 888) to be exact..Possible Indirect Cause: Virus (most notably the fakeAV trojan)Ok, so i got the fakeAV trojan last night late. I have i believe cleaned it completely, still running a few last scans to check, then rerunning a few in safe mode, but so far everything has come back clean lately. (at least each program once clean, usually multiple). So what this virus does is install a fake av pop up, which of course didn't click and a program called arc.exe (which runs in task manager as microsoft 8 direct blah blah bull) and downloads trojans. So I manually deleted (end process tree, file location, delete, it was in a temp folder) the arc.exe (which was the fake anti-virus pop up blocking me from accessing anything on my computer), but it damaged the registry and I could no longer execute any .exe files, open any programs, or install anything. I did the manual delete etc etc in safe mode with networking.
So out of necessity I restored the computer to a week ago to fix the registry/file access issue to be able to get av software etc etc.(I also deleted all the temp folders, prefetch (it had a lot of download instances of the trojan for the arc.exe file) and a few spot files i knew were bad (i keep close tabs on what I've put on my computer when, and using search modified and looking at date created, deleted a few folders and such that were no good).
