Nov 26, 2012I had 2 computers last week with auto updates on, mcafee vse 8.7i enterprise administered through epo. get a failure to authenticate windows. Ran MS offline scanner, no malware, multiple warnings not a legal windows installation, update fails, system restore fails, then reboot and bsod. No f8 for safe mode. The only 2 win 7 computers with auto updates turned on exhibited this behavior. Complete reinstall of course, anyone else have the same problem?

May 27, 2012I've been trying for several months to solve this problem. I have a home office network with a Debian Linux server, which I'm using as a calendar/file/print server, two Linux laptops, one XP machine and one laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, which came preinstalled on the laptop.When I try to access the shares on the Debian machine, I keep getting authentication failures. I've tried my Windows username/password, my Linux username/password, and even created new users on both systems to try different solutions. All the computers are able to print through the Debian server. However, file sharing using the Debian machine as a Samba server does not work on the Windows 7 laptop. It works fine with all the other computers in the house. I've tried a registry hack, setting LMCompatibilityLevel to both 1 and 2, checked and rechecked my Samba configuration, even tried resetting the clock?

Mar 6, 2009I am able to connect from XP to a network share at my workplace by giving login/password. However, when I try to connect from Windows 7 i get the error: "specified authentication package is unknown"
However, I am able to connect to another shares. From XP no one is having any problems in connecting to this share at all. Have googled but to no avail. Found one suggestion to add 'authentication packages' key to registry but it was already present in my Win 7 and with the correct value.
Any help would be appreciated as I am at my wits end with this issue. Win 7 is working flawlessly otherwise. Much much better than XP. Vista was pretty much unusable on my laptop (HP TC 4400 tabletpc)

Feb 2, 2012The situation: Using windows explorer to access a shared network resource, for example, \blahfolderfolder2 - the first time I try this on a new installation, it requires authentication (user/pass) which I provide (this is on a workgroup, not a domain).That's fine. The goal: I want a way to force Windows 7 Pro to forget the authentication and ask for a new authentication next time an access is attempted for that share. Here's what I have tried, and what has not worked: Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Disconnect Network Drive (it doesn't work because there is no mapped network drive to disconnect; next connection attempt does not ask for authentication) From command prompt (run As administrator): rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr -- Then select any network share to clear credentials for, then click delete button. (no network shares listed; next connection attempt does not ask for authentication)

Go to advanced tab, click on manage passwords. This brings up the credential manager (can also get to credential manager directly from control panel). Find credentials to delete (windows, certificate-based, or generic) - there are currently none listed, though there had been earlier, and all were deleted. No change; next connection attempt does not ask for authentication. From command prompt (run As administrator): secpol.msc
Go to security settings -> local policies -> security options -> Network access: Do not allow storage of passwords and credentials for network authentication.
Enable it. Exit and reboot. No change; next connection attempt does not ask for authentication. I have tried all of these with or without rebooting immediately after.

Oct 19, 2012For the past few weeks, I'm getting all these error codes and have NO clue why? They are to sites I use every day. One moment I can access the sights and next moment I get the error codes.I've run the Windows Repair Disk, CClean, Malwarebytes and Spybot and nothing I've done has helped. Any ideas will be appreciated because I've gotten a rotten headache again today trying to figure this out.If I recall, I think it all started when the Babylon Toolbar forced it's way onto my computer. I have no idea how I got it but I believe it's been deleted....and not even sure if that is the start of the problems/ I just remember having to delete it and then got these others problems afterwards. Whether there is a connection or not, I don't know.

Random BSOD Codes Cannot Get Into Windows
Apr 26, 2012"2 years ago I built my own PC, and every component was brand new, except my hard drive (which I got a new one shortly after). I installed Windows 7 and everything was going great during the install until my computer BSOD. I think to myself "Ok..." but the computer restarts successfully and I just shrug it off in the typical "Oh Windows..Jump to a few months later. I start having BSOD every few start ups, until it eventually got to where it was more often that not. The odd thing was, it would only BSOD during startup, and once it was up, it ran like a champ. So my lazy solution was just usually put my computer on standby. Well, then comes a day when I have to restart my computer for some program or driver installation, and the computer never comes back on. Try to use Startup Repair on the Recovery Disk, but to no avail. I suspected my RAM, so I swapped it out with another (compatible) set I had available. Unfortunately, the computer would never start up. It would literally not power up. So I ended up replacing the motherboard. Now my computer starts up fine, and my computer seems to be normal until.The BSOD soon returns, and I suspect that it could be a software issue. I reinstall Windows. This seems to fix the problem... for a little while. A few short weeks later the problem returned. I am severely frustrated at this point. I can't get Windows to boot more than 1 out of 20 start ups. I start running diagnostics. CHKDSK, memtest86, Seagate's Hard drive tools. Eventually it gets to where Windows won't start at all. What's worse, the recovery disk won't even boot. If I'm correct, this means that it can't be a hard drive issue?
I had a copy of Ubuntu available, and I install that on a small partition I hadn't used yet. It boots some of the time. Other times, it has issues as well.if I've replaced the motherboard, run Memtest86 with no errors, and am unable to boot to the recovery CD, does that mean that it is my processor at fault? From what I researched, processor defects are rather uncommon, and usually due to over heating (and I have a pretty substantial cooling system). The other thing that's niggling my brain is that my computer can run sometimes. For instance, I'm typing this on Ubuntu right now. If the processor is messed up, how is it running this at the moment?"I put my SATA drive (the original) in a different, working computer and it wouldn't start up either. So I switched to a different IDE hard drive and formatted it and installed Windows. It works for a few runs before it stops working completely and now no matter what I cannot get into Windows. Safe mode doesn't work. It crashes on the boot CD. Some (but not all) of my BSOD are actually green, but I don't know if that means anything special. [code]

Sep 12, 2012Blue screens are coming at different times with different messages. I have not noticed a pattern, or certain thing happening at the time of crash.

Frequent Bsdos On Number Of Different Error Codes
Dec 28, 2011I've been suffering more or less frequent BSODs for a while. They usually come when I'm playing something, ranging from Orcs Must Die to Fallout 3. Most often they appear when I'm on Skype, chatting with people while playing Magicka or League of Legends. These BSODs are often accompanied with loud, "buzzing" sound which disappears only after the computer reboots itself. There have been many kinds of files which seem to be the cause behind the crash such as win32k.sys, dxgmms1.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, usbohci.sys and so on, but I don't know what to do about them.I've updated my GFX, chipset and soundboard (I think, it's integrated) drivers and flashed the BIOS. I've also reinstalled the OS once, few months ago I guess. I've checked RAM with memtest, turned out fine, same with hard drives. I haven't monitored computer temps very closely, but I have removed the side of the case so the air should be flowing freely. The crashes are also quite random.

Jan 20, 2012My computer just likes to crash. I haven't run into any way to repeat any of these, and there's no common factors. This has been happening for months, and I've been able to stand it until now. I'm just sick of never having a working computer. Hundreds of blue screens, at least 6 different error codes over the last 6 months. I've attached the latest few.The last problem I had with this computer was a rash of BSODs every few minutes, rendering my computer completely inoperable. It was bad caps on an old motherboard, which forced me to upgrade my mobo, CPU and RAM; that was done Sep 23 last year. I've still been getting a few lately, so I tried switching to an older hard drive I have on hand, which helped some, but didn't solve the problem completely. Here's the specs as of now.

Brand new case with two big fans to hopefully rule out overheating

Yes, I know, it's weird mixup of parts that could run a lot better with newer hardware. That's what happens when you take what you can get and spend money only when you have to. I don't have money to throw at this stupid thing, money is in short supply. So don't just say, "buy a brand new this, that and the other and your troubles will be over," unless that is the ONLY option to fix this. I simply can't afford it.
EDIT TO ADD:A short list of codes and associated files I've gotten in the last couple BSODs, just for quick review and in no specific order:
50, ntfs.sys
3B, ntfs.sys
D1, ndis.sys
3B, tcpip.sys
Because of the ntfs.sys being a common factor, I suspect the hard drives, but I'm also wondering if it's not something else,because this happens with two different drives, one IDE, the other SATA.Also, the errors below are from both drives, both with Win 7 installed. The perfmon was run on the IDE drive, as the SATA drive is too unstable to run reliably for 30 minutes.

Feb 9, 2012The poblems started a few weeks ago when i upgraded the CPU and the GPU. The vendors of the components and the motherboard stayed the same. (E6550 --> E8500 and HD4850 --> HD6850)It had some crashes before but now it got realy bad so i reinstalled the system, updated MB bios, dowloaded drivers from vendor sites, updated everything and only installed basic 3rd party drivers and software.The crashes still remained they happen more often when the computer is under heavy load (3D operations, games running), but they also occur if im playing a video or just use a web browser.I ran memtest, chkdisk but nothing, then furmark and intelliburn but no effect.The remaining drivers came up clean with verifier, and i looked after anything that came up from the crashdumps but my windbg knowledge is limited.

Beep Codes On Startup - Choose Operating System
Sep 24, 2012I was playing Syndicate on PC, and then suddenly, the game froze along with the sound. I could not alt tab, or ctl alt del. So I shut down the laptop using the power button. Then onwards, every time I start/restart it beeps numerous times and then the HP logo is seen, then it beeps numerous times again and then asks "Choose operating system". I click windows 7 on that screen and then it starts and works fine. I have started and restarted, and the number of beep codes are numerous and dont have an exact count every time. On one start it might be 11 beeps and on another it might be 8 beeps. I am on HP G70 120, and I am on Windows 7 32 Bit. The only operating system I am using is Windows 7.

Nov 19, 2011I have had my acer aspire for about 6 months and for the past 5 months this BSOD keeps happening at random times, and the symtem reboots and then restores.I have tried various methods to stop this happening - and I am now at a loss - I have tried puting hotfix on and also restoring to factory setting, i have heard about updating the bios etc but i am not great with the technical side of things.My computer came with windows 7 on it and it no disc - so how do i unistall it and then reinstall? i am hoping that i dont have to do thi however i see no other option.i should add that i contacted acer and that they have agreed to take it back and look at the hardware, however it its a software issue which i think it is - they will charge me 80 to fix it.
