Modding TCPIP.sys File

Oct 31, 2007

I use uTorrent and get some quite good speeds, but upon reading many tweak guides I'd guess you'd call them. They all recommend tweaking the TCPIP.sys file. Now I did this on XP Pro went I had it and noticed an improvement. Brilliant.

But I have done it, maybe three times now on Vista 64. Every time, following guides people have raved about and once I've followed them to the T, upon reboot, I have had no internet and the only way I seem to be able to fix this, is by reinstalling the OS.

I had tried using the untweak reg file that some come with, backing up the original reg and trying to restore it. Basicly I've tried many things. Now I say I've done this 3 times as each time I thought that I must have done something wrong for it not to work. So I would redo it. Does anyone have this tweaking working in Vista 64? All I get is a loss of internet connection to my computer.

Vista 64 Goes To Sleep: Tcpip.sys Errors

Aug 26, 2008

Vista 64 goes to sleep or coma while on the web using various bit torrent clients. Always requires a hard reboot. Happens even at night when unattended. Goes in spurts, OK for a couple of weeks and then quite often. Flashget is the worst, tried just about all the bit torrent clients available. Something has to present a conflict or it has something to do withh ATT Dsl (maybe). Had a lot of tcpip.sys errors in event viewer. There are ways to patch this but it is not something I want to do. I would just like to prevent these errors, if they really precipitated the coma.

Tcpip.sys Black Screen: Wrong Version

May 26, 2009

I turned my PC on today and a black screen came on saying that windows could not be started because this file (tcpip.sys) was missing or corrupted. When I try using my install disk (as the black screen recommends) it tells me that it's the wrong version or something (I gather that it needs to be set up to be able to restore). I did however find a way to use this screen like Windows Explorer so I can copy files etc. Is there a solution to this? If not could you please send me a copy of the tcpip.sys file so that i could try overwriting my existing file?

Interesting TCPIP Restrict The Scale Factor

Oct 12, 2008

I have an event that I would like to learn more about and Microsoft Technet nor google has helped me in this one. Event ID: 4228 Source: TCPIP Message: TCP/IP has chosen to restrict the scale factor due to a network condition. This could be related to a problem in a network device and will cause degraded throughput. Could this be a driver issue?
